Nonsense, plenty of 991.1 TurboS' for under 150 out there, even some .2s - the 992 cars are a whole other mess of VW electronics and "vertical integration" so you're buying some lambo/audi/skoda in there as well - more mouths to feed for the purchase price :). The "base turbo" models are significantly cheaper, often lacking PCCBs which are carry a hefty price tag. That said, if the cost of purchase is a major concern then the total cost of ownership might not be worth it - insurance, maintenance, etc tend to be their own pound of flesh. A TTRS might be a better option if you can find one, or the ever lovable R35 (before prices go nuts for those too).

Turbo S is their fastest street car with all the luxury and electronics and comfort that you can get in an 911. It's a ultra luxury sports car that you can pull up to a fancy dinner date with. The GT3RS, GT2RS, GT1, Carrera GT, 918 Spyder are literally purpose built racecars. Depends on how you define "best"
