Hi, nice video. I love it What do you think of this ebike for tall people? Has the 6'1 sr had a complication with the e bike?
@RideandShineBicycling8 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and your positive feedback! The e-bike is great for tall riders up to 6'4, and the 6'1 sr is cruising without any issues.

@@justinb7940 4,500 miles, Wow! That's great! Glad you've had no problems. The new Prodigy V2 LX does look really nice. Very impressive bike, especially at that price!

At 4:35 for a 1Ah battery you would get 30 minutes out of it at 2 Amps , not 2 hours ( I'm sure you didn't intend to say that ! ). The size of the 'fuel tank' is better expressed by working out the Watt hours ( Wh ) . This is the battery voltage multiplied by the Amp hours. Ebike battery voltage can vary from about 36 to 72 volts between models. Ride1up say its 500Wh ( 48V , 10.4Ah ) which is decent. You don't want your battery being too heavy yet want good range. The Portola has a geared hub motor which keeps the cost down. Mid drive motors are better in terms of efficiency and ability to go up very steep hills but are much more expensive because of bike frame design and maintenance issues ( eat through drivetrains ) . There are always trade-offs but for travelling at legal speeds it has plenty of power. The dual piston 180mm rotor hydraulic brakes are nice I'm not so keen on the welded rack. Personally I like the option of a removable one so I can reduce weight. Overall you get a lot of functional but not stellar components. The 40 Lux front light , for me at least would be feeble ( better to not include something like that and let the customer choose ) . It's likely the battery is the largest component cost . It will be interesting to see if spare parts are available like the hub motor , controllers etc . I get the impression that e-bikes in general use mostly proprietary electronic components with not a lot of interchangeability .

Thanks for watching. We did a lot of research on this bike.. "An ampere hour (Ah) is the unit of measurement for electric current over time. It is equal to one amp multiplied by one hour." Portola support tells us that the battery will be charged for 5 hours approximately which depends on the circumstances of the ride.

@@RideandShineBicycling I know you really make the effort in terms of research and in the creative process for your videos ! Your presentation skills are a 1000 times better than mine 🙂 Most of my previous comment was from a mechanical engineers perspective. Your very first line on the video says its all when you state that some E-bikes cost many thousands of $ and I have been asking myself for years why . I think it's a good bike for the price. At a glance it seems like a much more powerful version of say the Zizzo E-forte. I may suggest the Portola to some other channels who review these things.

Hey, thanks for the shoutout and for sharing your perspective as a mechanical engineer! Keep the feedback coming, it's valuable.

Great information! The Portola is looking pretty sweet- and I like the folding ability. Another thing that stands out to me is, just like Cheryl, I’m only 5’2 and the Portola fits us shorties lol. It seems like the majority of e-bikes being sold online the starting height is 5’5 or 5’7. Thanks for sharing 😊

Yay! Fellow shortie! It is sometimes difficult for us to find a bike that fits us. I did feel comfortable riding the Portola. Short people unite! 🤗

Would the unadjustable handlebar height be an issue for a taller person?
@RideandShineBicycling8 ай бұрын
No, unless they were taller than 6'4". Although we only tested it with someone 6' 1" and the bike fit him well.

I would keep a fully charged up extra battery on you at all times....YOU NEVA KNOW😊
