I’ve just finished resurrecting a 990SMT that had been left outside for three years. I’m surprised how well this bike works, it’s like KTM was thinking of me when they built it. A 1290 SMR, now that’s something else. I applaud you, sir, with making this happen and taking us along for the ride. Instant sub!!

Definitely a great job! Very much ahead of KTM manufacturing. It would be nice if KTM creates a model for witch the kit could be sold by the creator of this project. After all, KTM should give this guy the recognition.

I bought a 990 SuMo in 2008 and waited for a new one from KTM till this year when i finally bought a 1290 SD RR. I still own the 990 though since it's way to cool to ride. You absolutely created my dreambike! Kudos to your passion and your staying power. This is a huge project! Just wow!

Stunning.Just stunning. This bike would be an instant buy for so many people,but ktm isn't willing to take the risk of selling something so extreme. Amazing work as always,so many people would only see problems in this project and no solutions,but you pulled through solution after solution,and the result is to say the least,breathtaking. This work cannot be awarded with emotions or words... Its a piece of art & engineering that you just showed us, Dan. While watching all these parts i remember the history of HD & Buell, when an engineer left HD & made its own bike ( Buell) hand made. Daan… what to say, this is amazing!!! I own a 990 SMT, a great bike little tuned to 130rwhp. But now after 3 years i am missing the power… this would be the ultimate base for a “SMT 1290” i am dreaming already a year to do this with an 990 frame and a 1190 engine, but now to see the it also is possible with the 1290 unit… well what to say… this is next level!!! I always think in the “easy way”, 990 frame, 1190/1290 ADV as a donor bike, slam the engine over with the cabletree, shorten the cables where needed. An make it work. Yours with the single sided swingarm… wauw wauw wauw. I assume your a dutch guy right? I hope to see the bike on the road some day.. and maby be able to make a little talk😬 to get some more inspiration and knowledge…

Very nice ..I have the 2007 ktm 950 smr with araka exhaust system and itg jet kit .intake....spits out flames...named the dragon....love it..I was thinking what about a 1290..smr...and here it is ..sweet👍👍👍
