I can promise you that the balance beam scale will not let you down. Any battery powered digital scale will lie to you. When batteries get low you might blow your face off. My RCBS scale is late 60’s vintage and still works flawless. Digital is easier to work but not as accurate. WB

You kicked out my favorite 9mm powder, which is Tight group. A little dab will do ya and I get good velocities and good accuracy with it. You can fill up your powder measure and load all day and it barely drops. Meters great too.

I shoot 9mm Berry's bullets, 115 gr and 124 gr. I've been loading 4.0 gr of Titegroup under a 115 gr bullet and 3.9 gr under a 124 gr. bullet I have a 550C Dillon progressive press, with Dillon's case activated powder measure - it throws powder really well. I just came across CFE Pistol in my new 51st Ed'n Lyman manual - a new powder to me. Ordered some today and am awaiting its arrival.

Need to pay special attention with using a reloading manual. You were looking at the 9mm RIFLE data. There is an entirely separate (and much more extensive) list of published data in the Lyman book for 9mm handgun. The loads for rifle should be safe in a handgun however, this being a video for “beginners”, I’m a firm believer in teaching beginners that ATTENTION TO DETAIL is of the essence in the world of reloading. Using published data for the wrong application can lead to very bad things. Other than that, great video.

Alliant Power Pistol, Alliant BE-86, Winchester 231, Alliant HP-38, Hodgdon HS-6, Alliant Bullseye, Alliant Unique, Alliant Titegroup seldom if ever disappoint in the 9mm. You can play around with a lot of powders but these are ALL very well known and thoroughly time tested to work extremely well.

I use Accurate 5 and 7 most of the time. They both work well but it depends on bullet weight which one I use and these are not beginner powders , they are dependable powders.

In case you haven't already tried you should really try out using the dish from old scale and tare it, then put powder in dish and weigh it then pour into shell last, that way you only have to tare once for dish instead of every single time since all brass different. Also those dish are designed to be anti-static which helps as well

Great video, warts and all. I love to hear about mistakes as it helps me avoid them, or at least not feel so bad when I make them. Thx from a brand new hand-loader.

The problem is that there is no guide for a 16" inch barrel .. the data that they are providing most of the time is out of a 4" barrel . Vihtavuori N350 in his famous shooting accuracy! my load is 115 FMJ with N350 5.7 grains .. that fall in the middle between the low and hi recommended power load . Vihtavuori N350 is the slowest in the N300 series of handgun powders. It is ideal for very heavy loadings and top velocities and energies for a broad range of pistol and revolver cartridges. The grain size (1,0 mm length and 0,8 mm diameter) is exactly the same than N320, N330 and N340; it is the porosity of the powder that makes all the difference in burning characteristics. N350

The perfect powder measure is anything but that it will get you close but it's not consistent

What's your opinion on 244 and CFE not much available these days. I was lucky to find some over priced small pistol primers. Good video.
@freedombench45143 жыл бұрын
I actually haven’t been able to try those out yet. It seems these days you have to just get whatever is available. One thing I was very surprised on was the difference in recoil between powders. Thanks for checking out the channel! 🇺🇸

Have you tried to find a digital scale that is accurate to .1 grain?
