Recently learned Armscor Makati Manila Pistol shooting is P600 for Filipinos, but P1500 for foreigners. Other branches also have extreme price difference. This is really dishonest and taking advantage of foreigners. Especially when Armscor exports products other countries including USA. This could give Armscor or Rock Island Armory (RIA) a bad reputation with US customers and other countries abroad. Another KZbinr Tony Phan covered it in his video below. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3SkZqJ4jLiZsKs

Well, I'm italian, and i will have no problem pay a bit more, i do understand that they let foreigners shoots when obviously they don't have a Philippino permit for carry or shooting, so they take a big responsibility letting people that are not certified by their authority shooting in one of their facility... and by the way, in dollars or euros those are not big fees... but i also do understand your disappointment, it's very thoughtful of you, kudos to you and nice video... i' m thinking of gettin' a Rock Island 1911 in 9mm

Thanks for giving mature feedback, and I respect your opinion. Price gouging. It is what it is. The Armscor / RIA 1911 pistols are good shooters. I liked the 9mm, very flat shooting and accurate. See link below to Manila gun stores. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppXEaJ17mZ5lers

True, but you should still be thankful as most Asian country wouldn't allow foreigners to rent/shoot a pistol.

maybe try looking at it as a way of encouraging locals to pursue the sport rather than just trying to earn more from foreigners, most of whom in any case earn way more than the average filipino. the act of going to a range to burn money on a couple of rounds for fun is not something an average filipino would consider; his money's best reserved for family needs. it's more of a conscious act of allowing locals to partake and not be strangers to their own land and what it has to offer. nice video, by the way! you should try the COSA firing range in Coron, Palawan Philippines. i was just there about a week ago and glocks are part of the normal offering in roni kit configuration. :-)

It is because foreigners arent allowed to use a gun here in Philippines. Most ranges pay extra permits for that. If you want to shoot guns in ph, find a friend who's a gun enthusiast and a member of a shooting range and just pay for the ammo. Range club allows members to bring 1 friend in the range for free.

I'm a Cebu native and I've been an American citizen for 15 years now. I own a Rock Island Armory M5 shotgun and a 1911 GI and I'm very impressed about the performance of these firearms. I've never had a failure in both of them except for just bad ammo, other than that nothing else. It's just funny how the prices there are higher(being made locally and sold locally) compared to the ones sold here which involves import tax. Definitely will go and check out their range once I visit the homeland
@BAdventures

Hey nice one, and both good choices. I also found the high local prices strange. I think they must have local firearms tax in Philippines. Maybe less local PH taxes on exported goods too. Thanks for sharing =)

nice vid, armscor shows profession in their trade. love the 9mm in the 1911 shows little recoil. smaller bullets in heavy frames means less recoil, less recoil means higher accuracy.

Yes I was impressed with the Armscor facilities and staff in both Manila and Cebu City. Good point, they heavier metal frame pistols tend to be more forgiving. The 1911 in 9mm was accurate and low recoil. Thanks for watching ;)

Very good patterns! My EDC is a Glock 19. I love 9mm for the light recoil and magazine capacity but most of all the economical shooting. Walking around unarmed is my biggest concern since I have been considering visiting the Philippines. Not that I am highly concerned of the crime rate but mainly for the peace of mind I have by always having my weapon on me. It's my favorite habit
@BAdventures
@BAdventures 8 жыл бұрын
Yeah I can see why they make them, they were nice shooters. G19's are very popular for EDC and even as a duty pistol. If you stay in the good tourist friendly areas you will be fine in PH. Also the new President Duterte has increased security so you would be fine. But of course don't go to bad area unless you have trustworthy friends with you. thanks for sharing ;)

This applies to many things in life, "Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast"! That polymer frame MAP looked cool, I would love to try one of those. The markings on the shotgun bolt is called "jeweling".
@BAdventures
@BAdventures 7 жыл бұрын
Yep exactly, you know the drill. Was interesting to try local products. I can see why the CZ style of pistols are good shooters. But enjoyed the 1911 more. Ah yes "jeweling" is the term I was looking for. You're in USA?
@Shooter11B
@Shooter11B 7 жыл бұрын
Roger, Washington State in the USA. Yeah, CZ's are great guns. A bit hard to get accessories for them as well as magazines which are expensive. One of my favorite CZ's was called the Phantom which is now discontinued I believe. Very similar to the one you were shooting. I am with you, the 1911 is still one of my all time favorites (I daily carried one for years), but I carry a Glock 19 as my daily gun now. If I was going to go to war, the 1911, or one of the new Glock 45's would be my choice.

What a coincidence. I've met 3 Americans from Washington State recently. One of them is into shooting sports so don't be surprised if I visit one day. I've heard of the Phantom SP-01, owners seem to love them. The new Hudson H9 pistol is a striker fired 1911. Maybe what we have both been looking for. You can PM me on my Facebook Page if you want to chat.

Did an 80% RIA 9 em em 1911 last year. I mean, for right at $400, it was not a bad gun, considering al the small parts are injection molded. But I wanted to find out if I had the patience for the project on a cheaper gun before I went and bought top of the line parts for my 10mm/.357 Sig longslide.

I'm certainly glad that you're an australian who enjoys the shooting sports, unlike some of the more anti self defense antipodal sorts I've had the misfortune of interacting with. I did note that you really didn't give yourself a proper break in between strings. Repeated shooting will fatigue your hands and affect accuracy. And in your travels, did you ever come across Glocks and other polymer framed handguns in the rental ranges? Glock has specific variants made for the Philippine/asian market that we in the US will never see. (I personally use Glocks for both self defense carry and for competition, as well as for duty carry in security work. Hence my interest).
@BAdventures
@BAdventures 8 жыл бұрын
Yeah it is so strict in AU and so little understanding they are often demonised. It is actually cheaper for me to get on a plane and plink overseas lol. Good point I should have taken a break, my groups opened up as I fatigued. To answer your question, no polymer frame striker fired are not that common. Ironically polymer/strikers are usually more affordable say in the West. But in PH they are imported goods and firearms go through licensing etc so are often triple in street price. From what I heard the PNP are slowly adopting Glock variants as their duty pistol, seen a few police with them. I hired a G19 Gen4 from a competition shooter in Dumaguete just to try it out. They are very popular with security forces, but just harder to come by at ranges. I have heard of Springfield XD's but not seen them. The 1911 is very popular and they have the local skilled labour to make them affordably. That is why I wanted to try the Armscor MAP1 polymer frame. Local product, a bit lighter and modern features. CZ 75 pattern is a good shooter by nature so I can see why they chose that style. Hope that helps.

Maybe. You mean the stoppage at (13:35)? They like to use oversized safety levers on 1911's so I flicked it up by accident. The manager said they have had thousands of rounds through them and no problems. Surprisingly they were cleaned and lubed when I arrived. Range guns get plenty of regular use. But they are not always properly maintained. Thanks for sharing.

Me too, had I known earlier. I would have become a club member and visited any branch regularly. BTW the Filipino price is around P600 to shoot a pistol. Don't be afraid to get a Filipino friend to check first. They often double or triple the price for foreigners. I like CZ's types too. But I was surprised how well that 9mm 1911 shot. Very smooth and accurate. You know about CZ P10C? wish I could try one of those ;)

Yes, 9mm seems to be better for you. I have performed Armed security and Bail Enforcement here in the US and always carried a .45 auto. I once did a weekend shoot with a Gunsite instructor and shot over 400 rounds with the .45. Man that was not a wise idea. At the end of the weekend when it came time for testing, I could barely even hold the handgun. I passed, but my accuracy was off a bit, because my wrist was so sore from firing that much ammo on such a large scale. So I have a question, do they sell AR's and AK's in this place, or is that something they would have to order and have shipped, and what are the laws in regards to carrying/owning a firearm? (Great shoot by the way, very nice grouping)!
@BAdventures
@BAdventures 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks and good feedback. Use what works. AR's style rifles are more common. I've seen AK's on occasion but pretty rare. Usually rifles are special order items. The bigger gun stores in Manila said they order them in from overseas, like USA. You will also see old CAR-15's and M16's rifles floating around. The 5.56mm (223 rem) round is more popular. You can rent and try guns but ownership involves a bit of paperwork and expensive for locals. To legally own a firearm in Philippines you need The Basic 3: Filipino Citizen, 21+ years of age, complete and pay licensing requirements. Living in SE Asia is different to a shorter vacation. Feel free to ask question or chat on my FB Page.

Every gun has a formula: some parts can be tighter for accuracy, and other parts looser for reliability. 1911's generally have tighter tolerances as they are hand fit by nature. I think Armscor adds just enough slop to the right areas to keep them reliable. In USA they are very affordable as Rock Island Armory (RIA). Try out a rental for yourself sometime.

Thx b this vid helps a lot...I'm a novice at shooting..I bought a glock 17 it was jamming on me..any advice
@BAdventures
@BAdventures 8 жыл бұрын
Glad you found it helpful. Oh wow a G17 is usually known for being reliable. Well without seeing it in person, limp wristing can cause any pistol to malfunction. You need to hold it firm enough to cycle reliably. You can dry fire practice (no ammo in a safe direction) to build a sure grip and get use to the trigger. Also check the ammo, if it was out of spec or poor quality, or maybe a light weight load. Usually Glocks don't need lubricant but a small dab on the rails and barrel wouldn't hurt. Don't be afraid to get help from the store or a local gunsmith. If anything is damaged or faulty, you can send it back to the manufacturer or nearest Glock service center for repair. I heard they have good warranty support in USA. Let me know how it goes. You can PM me on FB page.

Alex Marcial Jr Ok, have you learned how to clean it? Send me a PM and I can send you some more info ;)
@BAdventures
@BAdventures 8 жыл бұрын
BTW the reloads are probably part of the problem. You can use them but you must clean the barrel bore after every use. The Polygonal rifling in Glock barrels can clog up from the lead fouling. Also if they were poor quality reloads they can be inconsistent or weak so do not cycle the gun properly. Clean you gun ;)

Oh yes, I was impressed how reliable and accurate they are. These range hire guns are actually a good test. Thousands of rounds every year from walk in customers and they keep working. The manufacturer knows how to fit them properly. The only minor thing that could be improved is the parkerized finish. Sometimes not the best finishing, but as long as it works it doesn't have to be pretty. Thanks for watching =)

You looked into Polymer 80?
@abcertweld
@abcertweld 7 жыл бұрын
B Adventures Travel Vlogs Yes I looked into it, but the only advantage is having a gun that's not registered. I say this Because by the time you get the 80% lower kit then on top of that and on the entire upper receiver that you have to purchase along with the trigger. Your better off if you can pass a background check just purchasing a Glock, because it will cost about the same amount by the time everything is said and done. To me if it does not save money then there's no reason to purchase it and go through all the hassle, because if I want to gun that's not registered in my name in America all I do is have to buy it off of a private seller. I achieve the same thing just without all the extra work and expense.

Totally agree. Shooting sports are much more expensive in PH. A Filipino friend checked recently, local prices were around P600 for the pistol rental package. I asked the manager about the pricing "variances". He said it was fine to publish the higher rate. Many businesses shamelessly over charge foreigners. I like their products. I think it goes not just for guns, also with buying a lot and build your own house, mostly expats marry a local and the names will be affixed to the land title, for automobiles/cars, I think the story is different, expats can buy "only if its cash basis", but if you buy it thru bank carloan, I guess it isn't doable, LTO for expats car registration and drivers licensing are allowed so nothing to worry. Hope this info helps! Take care y'all.

This Cebu City Armscor range was P2500: package to try 4 pistols with new factory ammo 50 rounds, plus all safety gear and target papers. Cheaper rates for Filipino citizens and Armscor club members. You can try negotiate cheaper if you just want to try 1 pistols or shotgun. I told them Makati Armscor range in Manila is P1500 per a pistol + 50 rounds with cheap lead reload bullets. I also showed them the video to prove it. So try negotiate politely. It is a shame, but even a good brand like Armscor can still try overcharge foreigners.

I covered it in the video. Buy price was around P20K - P35K. Does not include licensing fees. The rental price for foreigners was P2500 to try 4 different pistols and 50 rounds of ammo. Cheaper rates for local Filipinos. Ask the local Pinoy price first. More detailed video link below. Gun Stores Makati Manila kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppXEaJ17mZ5lers

Dry firing a weapon is actually really bad on your firing pin, I personally would never advise anyone to dry fire a weapon over and over.
@BAdventures
@BAdventures 7 жыл бұрын
Sure I understand. Always recommended to use Snap Caps when possible. That way it does not cause any damage. You can even make your own from empty shell casings. The best shooters in the world use dry fire practice. Just another training technique to build repetitions. Thanks for watching =)

Snap caps when used can save your toys. If you have access to reloading tools. The empties get resized, full length, and re-primed. paraffin wax in a 85-90 degF can be loaded to a .357 or .44 mag shell by just pressing the empty shells. When back to home temp of 70-75 degF The wax will harden and you can shoot indoors. No propellent powder, no lead. I like it in winter time and sit the target in front of the fireplace and help stoke the fire with wax, no mess.@@BAdventures

9mm is easier to shoot less recoil, the 45 you seemed a little afraid of it. If you want to shoot competition IPSIC or IDPA 9mm and 45 are scored different. 45 is also better for self defense it has more stopping power, Myself I shoot 40 cal. Glock G35 more control or easier to control and same point system as 45 cal. Oh and the prices were not cheap, you can get a 1911 for 10,000 pesos
@BAdventures

Thanks for sharing, it did seem like higher prices. Especially when the same Armscor/RIA products are cheaper in USA. I like 45ACP, especially out of a 1911. Just focused on what works. Felt recoil from the 45 is not a problem. It is a big and heavy projectile, that makes a nice pop and concussion blast. It's more about the shooter warming up to the gun and firing process. Don't get to train everyday. 45 actually has lower chamber pressure, so does not feel snappy during firing. Where the 40 S&W is a higher pressured cartridge by nature. Feels snappy in hand from the bullet flying out fast. Also depends on the ammo. Higher or lower pressure load, heavier or lighter weight projectiles, etc. Keep your 40 barrel clean and careful what ammo you use. Don't want a kaboom ;) kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqrcaaeXhpadis0

Haven't looked at the video yet, but will check it out. I haven't had any problems with my 40 cal. I have had a couple squibs with my 45ACP , just lucky I wasn't doing a double tap. So, no kabooms yet. Just lucky I have seen other people have them, mostly guys that do their own reloads. Costs more using factory ammo all the time, but maybe worth it. Oh and the squibs I had were using reloads too. I have a 22 cal. LR conversion kit for my Glock G35, which is great if you do a lot of shooting . The 22 cal. LR ammo is dirt cheap $2.00 for 50 rounds, gives you lots of time to work on all your skills and not break the bank. Little boring , but great practice ammo, great for beginners and getting your girlfriend into shooting too. I shoot a lot of different firearms , from 22 cal. revolver to my 629 S&W 44 Mag. and rifles. Love Skeet and Combat Shotgun. Now a days I only make it out to the Range about once a month, use to go a few times a week. Don't shoot in competitions any more. I think part of not being into it as much as I once was is because of all the new gun regulations and laws changing every year, the government where I live just made it more expensive and a big freakin hassle, kind of like the US is doing, just making things more difficult for honest people to have guns and putting them all in the hands of the criminals. Sorry, I'm getting off on a rant here, great Vlog keep up the good work.

Wow, that was scary. Good thing I'm not a Glock-tard. One of my favourite handguns is also one of my cheaper ones, that's my CZ75, which are excellent in my opinion. They are super reliable will fire any ammo and you can bury them in dirt and dig them up and they still work. Probably the or one of the best 9mm ever made along with maybe a Browning HP. Just my opinion and if you think a Beretta 92 is I have 2 of them and NO.

Right, nothing wrong with training and plinking ammo. But good thing you know what a squib is. I like the CZ75 style pistols too. Good ergos and flat shooting. I'm glad I tried the Armscor MAP1 clones. There are a few newer striker fired pistols using similar concepts now. Low bore axis, better grip designs, etc. I made a video on a Browing HP, link below. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rnq7amqvgr-If5I
