Im filipino and i used to have one of those. Its not made after ww2, its more recent than that (maybe starting from the 80s?). Only thugs, poor people and communist rebels here use those 1911s. Part of our colonial mentality gun culture here is to buy norinco or RIA and have it Colt or para odnance marks etched on them
@Vladpryde Жыл бұрын
LOL, interesting. So the Communists prefer the home-made 1911s rebranded as a capitalist Colt, but not the actual Communist-made Norinco? I had a Norinco once way back in the mid-2000s. It was a spontaneous purchase that I came to deeply regret. In my defense I was still new to firearms at the time. It was a horrible garage-built monstrosity that was just awful in every way. I paid way too much for it, and sold it at a massive loss. Lesson learned.....now I stick to either American-made 1911s, or Turkish-made 1911s. I'm contemplating my first one now in fact....either a limited-edition Colt, a mil-spec Colt, or a TISAS 1911 Government model. $1,400, $900, and about $340 respectively.

@@Vladprydethe price difference between the norinco and the "paltik" guns are substantial. The cheapest you can buy are the homemade revolvers that cost around $30-50. Many comments here already said it's called a 'paltik', usually made in Danao, Cebu, Philippines, so I'll just add a fun fact. 1.) The term 'paltik' has been integrated into everyday speech as a common word in the different languages in the Visayas region, where Danao is easily accessible, as being "poorly made", this pertains from the fact that paltik guns have little to no quality control and the reliability vary from gunsmith to gunsmith and the type of steel used. 2.) During WW2, Danao residents started making guns for the local resistance forces against the Japanese when the Americans withdrew from the Philippines to Indonesia, and the Philippine soldiers and local militia had hold their own and needed a supply of weapons and ammo. The problem is that there has been a lack of will to fully industrialize the Philippines and remains an dominantly agricultural country, with the lack of industrialization, highly skilled smiths like the gun makers in Danao continue to have their skills under-utilized and have to resort to just continuing their backyard business to be able to feed their family.

Sometime during the 1980s, These underground Filipino gunmakers were at one time recruited by the Japanese Mafia, The Yakuza, and brought to Japan to make guns for their use. Sam Colt had been dead nearly half a century when the genius who was John Moses Browning blessed the U.S. military with his iconic design, chambered in the also iconic .45 Auto. Colt was famous for black powder guns. Any Colt after 1862 was someone else's. So really, when it comes down to it, the 1911 in this video isn't a clone at all, but a forgery. It could have just as well been a Springfield forgery or an ATI forgery or a Tisas forgery. It's still true to the Browning design, although in the A1 version that appeared in 1924 while JMB was still alive and kicking.

I say this because Colt outsourced some of their manufacturing of 1911's to the Philippines to keep up with production some are unaware of this. They sell the 1911 to the stockholders for 6000 php the stock holders sell it to the runners for 7500 php and the runners sell it to gun runners for 13000 to 14000 php and the final gun runners sell at around 15000 to 18000 php. Thats how the trail works hahahaha

I have had a lot of 1911s. Always wanted a Colt with the pony on the slide. Finally shelled out $800 for a new Colt 1991. I was very disappointed with the Colt ,It stove piped a lot Failure to fire and feed. What I really did not like is it had a plastic grip safety and a plastic trigger. For $800 these parts should have been steel. I have a Rock Island 1911 now, all steel parts and absolutely runs GREAT! Colt is selling there name. Springfield, Remington R1 and Smith & Wesson still make a good 1911 for the price. Colt---forgetaboutit! A lot of companies made 1911 in wwll , all were as good or better then the Colt.
@calsurflance55983 жыл бұрын
I had the same problem with a new colt I bought in 1981. Stove pipe, fail to feed. Same issues. I sold it a year or two later. Bought a Rock Island 1911 A1 about 8 years ago, and have zero malfunctions to date.

@@calsurflance5598 Yep,Colt is just selling the name. I just bought a Nickle Plated 1911 A1 in 45 acp. What a beautiful gun. Now I have 2 Rock Islands,both are great. Colt has been sold to CZ,I understand. Maybe the quality will get better, but I bet they won't get any cheaper.

@@johnmccorkle3430 They are nice to look at but reliability is the key. It has to function or it’s just a pretty paper weight. And a liability! Enjoy your new Rock Island!👍👌

@Montfort Es Mort I really suspect "Colt" 1911s will get better ,now that CZ makes them, probably not cheaper ,though . I recently purchased a 22cal revolver sold by Rock Island and made in the Check Republic. Alpha arms manufacturers these revolvers for RIA. Alpha has a really high tec factory. Theses revolvers are top notch, I was quite impressed with my 22.

Back around 1990 I picked up a Colt gov model. It was a jam master. I sold it to a gunsmith and picked up a Springfield. It wasn't as bad but still not very good. I was told by a friend that 1911s had to be sent to a gunsmith to be made reliable, so that ended my relationship with the 1911 platform. However - a few weeks ago I picked up an RIA 1911. It's had about 1k rounds through it and been 100% reliable. So I bought a Tisas US Army model for just over $300. Also 100% reliable. What's wrong with these US makers?
@RobBoudrie5 жыл бұрын
I'm not 100% convinced its a 4gery. 1. The gummed up top of the firing pin stop is probably from crudely using a tool to remove it (some are very tight), not from bunging up the carving when making the part as that is completely inconsistent with the rest of the gun. 2. The arc like mark inside the slide are from the end mill on a milling machine, not from hand filing the gun. 3. The checkering on the back of the slide and front of the grip portion of the frame is a common custom gunsmithing feature and often added to a gun well after it was manufactured. The presence of this feature has no bearing on the authenticity of the weapon. This is a nice feature on a modern 1911, and a travesty against the huge manatee when done on a vintage collectible. It may indeed be fake, but it wasn't made in a hut with files. As to making guns by hand - A friend does this and get about $5k each, but his idea of "by hand" is make each piece an individual work of art using tool like swiss screw machines and Japanese 5 axis mills.

Would have been better if you had compared it to a real Colt instead of a Remington. Nothing wrong with the Rand, just not the gun the fake was trying to be.

Couple of points: 1) No one should be copying another manufacturer's product and passing it off as authentic, i.e., unless you are Colt Arms, you can't call what you manufacture, a "Colt". 2) How well does this Philippino-made model M1911A1 shoot? Might shoot pretty well; might be a good economical handgun to own.

I watched a documentary on gun smuggling into the United States. The make the forms from actual 1911 parts as dies. It’s a long process as there are one maybe three people working on the one gun. They take metal and get it really hot and then with the use of a die they can form the Metal. Grinding is also done using a die to make sure the part is as exact as possible. After the pistol is completed they go out in the forest and fire one bullet. If it works it is sold to a gun runner that sneaks them into the United States. From their it is sold on the Black Market such as gangs. Very dangerous business. The worker that makes guns can and do get killed by rivals.

The only true Colt 45 ACP is made by Colt. All others are copies made under lic. from Colt During WWII, there several manufactures, to wit Remington, Ithaca, High Standard, Singer Sawing Machine Co. and many more At the time it was production, production, thus the machining marks on the firearm. So do your home work before you make incorrect comments. By the way, if it has machine marks then it is not hand made.

A factory before in Cebu Philippines that supplied unmarked firearm parts for US brands as outsource, produce the best copies (discretely & illegally) They use photo chemical etching for markings, they told me if markings is very perfect & plain it's a copy. Because original roll markings embossed the markings surface & is normally uneven. (Their parts are interchangeable with OEM 1911). Most backyard gun makers claim their gun came from that factory because it's the most sought after.

Colt used that style of stamping on their newer slides. Google "colt 1911c govt" and look in the images. Buds is selling them too. It looks like someone took a real military property 1943 made frame (I ran the serial number), checkered the front strap, bubba'd the grip screws, messed with some other shit like the plunger, used a newer colt slide (yes, they have shitty stampings) and checkered the rear of it, and reparkerized the gun. It's not a genuine ww2 era 1911a1, but it is a "colt made 1911" made up of parts from different Colt guns.

A 1911 that was reasonably old could be expected to show more wear than the copy as well as an idiot scratch. If you wish you can look up when the gun was made at Colt's website. My .45 1911 Government Model was made in 1918. It shares serial numbers with several other Colt models, both revolvers and semi autos. My 1911A1 Combat Commander in .38 Super was made in 1979. Philipino made copy? The 1911 was designed during what was called the Philippino insurrection! The .38 cal. the army was using, was ineffective against the Philippino's, and the army needed a larger caliber firearm! There are 1911's made in the Philippines and are of decent quality! About as expensive as a Colt made gun!
