What a beautiful statement to this man. I couldn't agree more. What class he shows, even his eyes are kind and thoughtful and sad. Even the most ignorant behaviors he sees can not move him from his classy place of being. We can all take a lesson or two from this tragic father. Elijah was special. He was what I call 'touched'. I'm crying for this boy and how he suffered.

@@Enemymind1973 The reporter or who ever is terrible and the sound of the father and lady sucks. You can't hear most of this video on their side and the questions being asked were so dumb and poor the father couldn't even answer back most of them. As for law enforcement... they don't listen or pay attention to their arrestee's. Just like in court the judge makes everyone feel stupid and doesn't answer half the questions the defendants ask. But has no problem making sure to make you look and feel dumb and stupid in front of everybody. I didn't see much of Elijiah fighting back or resisting. Certainly nothing that would have to be given that shot to put him out. He tried to tell he's situation and why he is different but like usual law enforcement just treat him like another drunk druggie and to say he had super strength that the police officers had trouble keeping him down and under control. Bull SHIT. I'm so sorry that happen to Elijiah he only wanted to go home and was telling them he was no threat couldn't even kill a fly. But it only took 20 some minutes for officers to kill him. People need to start listening.

Matt Beckley No I don’t need to have my head checked. I’m a mother of special needs children who as a part of their diagnosis don’t like being touched. In fact hugging someone hurts them. They also can’t communicate well and if caught in this situation they would most defiantly resist because they handle being touched. My kids are both good kids. Sometimes my oldest child has to go to the hospital. She’s never ever been mistreated by the police because I’ve made it a point to introduce myself and my kids to most of the police around here. My kids don’t look like they have special needs but they do. My heart is broken for this father because it could be me at any moment. My kids have autism and my oldest has a dual diagnosis of autism and schizophrenia. She has authority, visual, and tactile hallucinations. I’ve seen her fight things that are not there. I’m not the only one. The numbers of kids will autism is rising. The police especially need to be educated about it so that these kids don’t die. My kid is allergic to one of those sedatives that they use. The emt can 4 point restrain people. They don’t have to give them shots until they find out the actual medical history. There where alternatives and things that should have happened. If this entire situation was approached differently Elijah would not be dead.
@jenettejackson991

@Matt Beckley "Nice appeal!" Your response was not about facts it was a personal attack against me because you did not agree with my statement. You told me that I need my head checked without knowing where I was coming from. I was coming from a place of empathy for this father. When death happens that could be prevented it wasn't handled correctly. I have CPI training. The police should always de-escalate situations. Mocking someone to escalate them is where it started. That is what makes it wrong. Police are supposed to de-escalate things and try not to go hands-on.
@jenettejackson991
@jenettejackson991 3 жыл бұрын
Matt Beckley Your the being ignorant and you can’t read your own source. So let me break it down for you. 1.53. The complaint : guy looks sketchy. ( the way someone looks is not a crime. He should not have been stopped because no crime was reported. 4:14 First contact 4:28 Hands on. You are saying that he reasonably tried to de-escalate in 15 seconds. There where zero de-escalating words said. The kid was being accused form the minute and not spoken to. He didn’t have to stop him at all and shouldn’t have because he had not committed a crime. If you get a report of a sketchy person maybe you should watch them and observe first to see if they do anything wrong. He wasn’t doing anything wrong. He wasn’t being violent and hands where put on him first. He had that mask on due to a medical condition. He had headphones 🎧 in his ears and couldn’t hear commands. ( which the transcript doesn’t show) He had been to the store before with no issues. That never should have happened because someone called and said they saw a sketchy black person walking down the street. It wasn’t a good stop to begin with.. There is no way you can convince me that 15 seconds is enough to de-escalate. He was approached in a manner that escalated the situation. 15 seconds after contact they went hands on. There is no excuse for that. By the way I’m pro police because my brother is a Sargent. I have many family members in law enforcement. Criminology is one of the areas of study in my degree. I am not interpreting your source the way you are because I know what I’m talking about. Everyone has their own opinions. At the end of the day this was a tragedy for this young mans family. My heart breaks for them.

Walking home from the store should not turn into THIS! They never listened to anything he said. I argue about "non-compliance" a lot. One feels a natural indignance and anger at being approached as unlawful, or "suspicious"when you KNOW you are not so. When you try to speak, and are not heard leads to more frustration, and fear when dealing with an authority. But also, should police be able to harm you for having a bad attitude, is that illegal? Are police like God or parents, to punish One for being a jerk, if that is the case. Police are approaching normal people and misunderstandings with a preconceived suspect/criminal mindset. I understand the dangers police face every day, but you would have so much more support, compliance, and respect if you could treat people like people, and criminals like criminals. The nerve to play the victim, in minor situations that are treated with same regard as crime in progress. We have nothing to fear but fear itself. Are you victims of your own fear? Or antagonistic abusers of power? Maybe little of both? Blanket protection of police only hurts the people, and the police too! Militarization of our police has happened over a few decades now, which is bad enough. Coupled with our country's history of racism/prejudices ( open and hidden, systematic and "organic", old and new ) is a horrible equation that only hurts us ALL in the end. Accountability

I just happened to find this video. A previous video mentioned Elijah's name and I did a search. These stories break my heart. When I saw a video that showed pictures of police officers making fun of Elijah, I was disgusted. I was even more disgusted when the chief of police stated in a press conference that she could not put those officers on administrative leave without pay because there was not felonies involved. So when police officers murder a citizen it is not a felony? One thing I see is that we have separate justice systems. I'm very sorry for Elijah's family and their loss. Please be careful when you call the police, it can put a person's life in danger. Police cannot be trusted, and it has been this way for a long time. We have a sick society that believes police can be trusted. Question your beliefs, because it may not true. Just be careful, and watch that actions meet the words.

My prayers, empathy and heart to you, Sir. That you lost your son, the circumstances involving his death and being subjected to the public because of this, literally, makes my stomach turn. Stay strong. You're doing good work here. If you need anything, let me know.

It was 2 men and a young female cops! Why didn't she use her skills to deesculate and listen to his explanation??? Instead they put him in 2 choke holds amd then the 3 of them took pictures laughing, as the reenacted the choke hold. That EMT should lose his license as well!!!

Deepest condolences to the family. This is a terrible tragedy. The men wearing police uniforms who stop this young man are unprofessional and inhumane. They had no business being in any law enforcement agency. The only crime committed on the day was against a young defenseless Elijah McClain.

God bless the family and I pray that they get justice. I have to say that this is one of the most tragic and disgusting things I've ever seen. What kind of justice is this? It's utterly horrific brutal and cruel it was as his father said " Cold beyond belief" 😣 my heart goes out to the family..I feel for you and hope you get justice , you have so much dignity 🙏

Those police over reacted looking at this man, shame on them, for doing what they did to him, they wouldn't even listen to the young man that tried to explain why he was walking on his way home, that was the biggest mistake the police made!

Elijah is a tribute to his parents. His goodness is so rare and such a contrast to those who killed him. We owe Elijah our gratitude for his being so special in a world that makes that almost impossible. To those who killed him and the officers that mocked him, I can only feel pity for you know what you did to such a gentle lovely soul.

When someone calls the police on another person, particularly when they are another race, if the inocent person is murdered by the police, the caller should have the same murder charge as the police, period. All police should have an IQ of 110 or above, and should pass a multiphasic personality test, which shows if they are a liar, and attempting to trick the test. Simple. A national database should show them as "Do Not Hire," or "Hire at Public Risk," and should be monitored. So simple.!!

I truthfully understand what this man is going through. My son was killed but not by police officer but they know who murdered my child but that person is still walking around free so no justice for me I understand the frustration that hurt that his family is going through cuz I've been there. The hurt goes beyond your heart it hurts to your soul may God give them peace. 🤱🏼🤱🏼🤱🏼

Why would a paramedic have ketamine in his arsenal to administer to humans? Isn't that illegal? I don't get that. I think he died from a combination of both the chokeholds and the ketamine injection! Can't believe the coroner didn't state that on autopsy report. Doesn't make sense to me!
