At first glance, Tim Blanchard's '66 Mustang 250 Coupe wows you in with the beautiful paint, torque thrust wheels and classic sixties muscle car stance. Once closer, you hear the rumble of the Boss 302 Cleveland Engine exiting thru the large rear exhaust outlets and spotting the drag radials, tells you it's something special. The story behind the car is as interesting as the car itself. At the age of 13, Tim bought the Mustang for $50 and with his father started on a father son project which in Tim's words, went way further than originally anticipated! Competing mainly in the no elapsed times, kots grudge racing scene, this was Tim's first actual time runs! The Boss 302 Cleveland with a 250 shot of nitrous comes alive with wheelstanding launches and passes of 9.28@147.88mph and 9.63@146.89mph. My God I love that Mustang I always said the Boss 302 had a lot of potential the stock Boss 302 is basically Cleveland heads on a 302 block. I know how badass the Cleveland Motors are cuz I've owned two of them. And both of them would embarrassed big block cars. Both were fairly stock just slightly bigger cam in the second one headers Holley four-barrel it would bury the speedometer and keep pulling you into the seat. If you knew what you were doing it didn't take much at all to get to the 450 horsepower camp.

They dont like when BOSS 302 and Clevelands beat their BBC asses. I have a 359 Cleveland in my 70 Cougar. Not the fastest thing yet - 11.5@117 in quarter so far. There are times I beat their BBC and they come and ask me how big my BBF is. Nope, its a 359 Cleveland. Then I get the "well its a big block anyways with those heads" Im like "nope, small block bore spacing, motor mounts and trans pattern, try again"

@@nova467spanker Small/big block is a Chevy thing. The 351C is a 335 series engine. The Ford 221/289 was called the "Fairlane V8" when it first came out. What really gets me is when people call the 351M/400 a small block. OK, it has the same bore spacing as the 302, but having owned 2 of them I can tell you it's a big chunk of iron. So, how about calling the 351C a "mid" block. Enjoy your Cleveland, I had one about 35 years ago, a great engine.

It cant be a Boss 302 and a Cleveland at the same time. Yes I know the Boss 302 had Cleveland style cylinder heads BUT the Cleveland was 351cubic inches. All that aside it is a very nice and very quick Mustang!!!

Very nice, this gives me hope, I’m building a 10.7 to 1 408W with TFS 205 11R heads to go in my 4 speed 66’ GT. I was worried about not being able to get enough tire under it to hook...I guess that’s just not the case.

Its very possible the 302-347 could perform better due to weight transfer im building a 65 fastback and i got a 351W and 302W to play with im just worried the 302 block cant hold together at around 450hp The 351w is so strong just heavy for the 65-66 i had a 67fastback in 1980 in high school ran 12.80s 289 ported heads 10.5 comp. 520 lift cam torker289 C4 and 4.11 The 351w came in my 65 and its so tight with factory shock towers but like you i really want the easy 550hp But unless i cut towers which i might i guess im gonna go 347

@@cammer68oliver2 I agree at 450 the older blocks can hang no problems but i have a 85HO block and yea 450 would be no issues but sometimes the build ends up with a bit more I have world sr heads 200 intake runners to work with I pretty much decided to go TCI front suspension and shock tower delete and stroker 408 with 580/595 lift and Victor Jr

+casius108 nope they are stock wheel wells with the upper inner tin pounded in they are 275 50 15 (26x10) the wheels are 15x10 with a 6.5 backspace.... I widened the housing and centered it in the well but had to grind about an 1/8 in on the springs to give tire clearance.... barely fits but doesn't touch at all

A Boss 302 is a 302 Windsor block but higher nickel and 4 bolt mains, with 351C 4V closed Chamber (but if there not original Boss heads you need to plug the 351C water jackets and drill into the heads to match up to the 302 Windsor water jackets) with a special intake that fits the 351C heads on the 8.2" 302 Windsor deck

Calling it Cleveland is a lot easier than explaining to everyone that does not know what a Clevor is...which is a windsor block with cleveland heads....But yes you are correct.... look for the car to be coming back out in 2021 with a couple turbos hung on it.

Everyone on here is giving their own opinion on what engine it is so I'm just going to ask what is it and does it have aluminum heads on it and is it running nitrous if it's no on the nitrous no on the aluminum heads and those are cast iron stock Cleveland heads then I'm impressed if it's 302 or windsorheads I'm even more impressed cuz that's hard to believe but I know a stock Cleveland will run that with the right cam and a 456 rear gear's

“Boss” is not a “Cleveland” its a “Cleveor” it’s a Windsor block with Cleveland heads and a unique to itself intake manifold, the only things Cleveland are the heads valve covers and exhaust manifolds its more Windsor than Cleveland, pound for pound, and no 302 runs in the 9’s in a 60’s mustang without serious mods or “power adders” lol 11’s maybe. Nice though, sounded like a pro build tune and bob weight/rotating assembly inertia cylinder equalization and component balance, or a well done blueprint build.
