I got into an argument recently with my boys at work...I was saying Hip-Hop is dead and they were saying it's just dead to the East and Old School heads. Personally, "Rap music" is the term used by people who don't listen/understand Hip hop. I believe Hip hop shouldn't be elitist and should be accessable to anyone who listens to it. Much like all "genres" of music, it should be enjoyable at all different levels. Hip hop makes people think about their own lives, ambitions and creativity. The vehicle that drives the whole scene is self expression and keeping it real. Keeping it real is paramount. It's what I love about Hip hop.
