Samsung always gets the message and sends. You have typical pixel signal problems. When you have no Internet it resorts to SMS.

As a heads up, enabling link previews means the URL is loaded automatically on your phone upon receipt, without you having to take any action. This might be a privacy risk for some users, as it lets the owner of the website know that you either visited that specific page, or that you received a link to it. This is one of the reasons messaging apps let you disable this feature - although they could do a better job at explaining the privacy implications of the feature.

RCS is cool, and has potential but it's still as fragmented as early Android OS updates. Too many companies have their hands in the configuration. Your experience varies even more depending on carrier and what the carrier uses as their RCS server on the backend (Jibe is Google's default but there are dozens of different ones) which could even make a difference in if you even have encrypted messages with your contact(s) or not. iPhone RCS messaging isn't even encrypted as Apple wants to use their own encrypted method down the road. This long comment should help highlight the "mess" that RCS is right now behind the scenes.. in short we basically have yet to truly experience the "Rich" part of RCS, but hopefully we will in time..

Apple doesn't want to use their own encryption, they want the GSMA to add E2EE to the universal profile. Google messages adds E2EE to their messages platform not to RCS, it's like how iMessage adds E2EE to the messages app on the iPhone.

There should be an option to separate carrier messages from personal texts to improve the user experience. Sometimes the inbox is clogged with carrier messages and if you receive many, it gets harder to trace your personal texts

I often clean up my messages by deleting ones like "Can you buy a loaf of bread on the way home" but leave other important texts from that person. Unfortunately it leaves lots of lines that read "Texting with (name) SMS/MMS" or "🔒RCS chat with (name)". How do I also delete those lines?

The OTP delete thing defaulted to on for me in the USA. I use Beeper, so I get follow up "messages" letting me know they were deleted. Kind of annoying but whatever.

I use it but alot of friends etc don't see a need for it. they have been doing fine with just the regular sms. It may just go by the wayside eventually since alot won't switch to it just like several other google apps. they should just make it mandatory in the future if they want it to be used.

Messages for web has become useless for me as OTPs are not visible. I used to have the ease of checking my OTPs on my computer without need to find my phone. Instead of disabling this by default, Google should have given option to show OTPs on web, if one wishes to.

i simply refuse to use Google messages until they allow deleting a text from the notification quick actions i don't want to have a bunch of 2 factor code senders cluttering my message list. and without the quick action I have to go into the app, take multiple actions to delete a message/conversation, and then make my way back to the previous app. it's sooo cumbersome

Google messages turned to shit when they removed automatic messages organizing back in 2022 or 2023. That was the only thing keeping me on google messages and not samsung messages. But now samsung is just forcing everyone to switch to google messages instead of samsung's own app

I disagree 💯 with you. Gemini on messages is actually way cooler especially on areas with network challenges. Not to mention having to switch between apps when you want Gemini to generate a message you want to send in the messages app. Having Gemini within messages is the best decision ever as limited the functionality may be. Plus is it gives limited results you tell it to provide full details and does so.😊
