Overtime 034: M4 Mac Mini is worth the hype

Just ordered the Mac Mini M4 w/ 24GB/512 and shopping for a monitor (27"-34") to go with it. I do a lot with image editing and a little video editing. Any display suggestions?

A used/refurbished Studio Display is my default recommendation. But Asus also has a new 5K monitor that it just dropped for like $799.

I’m in the exact same position. I’ve read reviews and looked at a bunch of displays for the Mac. There are displays that are less expensive than Apple’s and they seem to have some updated features but with the Apple Studio Display going on sale ($300 off), I’ll probably end up getting one on sale (new) or refurbished. In the end, I suspect that the Apple display will have better longevity and won’t ever experience any random glitches.

I thought Macs still don't fully support USB 3.2 Gen 2x2. So the Samsung T9 performs basically like a T7.

I will replaced my Mac mini M2 with the new M4. I’m going to get the base model because it offers the best value for money. I already have a MacBook Pro M3 Pro 16”, so I’ll use the mini for tasks like watching movies and playing with developer versions. The student discount makes the M4 an excellent choice for the best bang for buck computer, regardless of whether you prefer Windows or Mac.

Just picked up the base model to run as my home server. Also grabbing the m4 pro ( 48gb ram ) but…. Going to rock the base model as my daily driver first to see what I need for the second unit. If the base can do the job, I might just save that cheddar.

I do and going to do a video on it. Just sketching through some ideas on the video but have all apps and strategies laid out. Just new to the camera.

The M2 Max Mac Studio and M1 Max Macs are only better in raw GPU performance. In 3d productivity software like Blender M4 is more powerful than the M1 Max and M2 Pro. M4 Pro is more powerful than M2 Max in Blender and has the raw performance of M1 Max
