3:50 *pass from #2 to #7 I was #7 yesterday, but almost every time I was passed the ball, I already had a defender attacking me and my back was turned to him upon receiving the ball, and I had a difficult time making anything happen. If a defender was immediately guarding me, maybe there were better pass options to other players, or maybe the defender was fast, but, at the same time, I take responsibility for not being able to do more/better with the ball.

Coach, love the videos. My first year coaching U12 rec. soccer. Any tips or advice on how to stop the players from bunching up? Having a hard time keeping them spread out, we do good in practice but in games its a different story.

Pattern choreography. Team organizational possession. Check out my build out and attacking vids for more specifics.

With dedicated runs to the goal, do you have issues with kids getting off sides? If so, any pointers?
@CoachRorySoccer5 ай бұрын
Yeah especially younger ages. Really need to teach a curved run. So it should be curved and not directly to the spot.

What if they set and spin with the 9 and have runners? Good players can make the pass to the 9 easily, then either midfield or fullback rotates round and can play left right or through ball centrally
@eltarawali30156 ай бұрын
I would maybe try to lock off one side and force the even longer pass diagonally hoping they try the switch but gives the team time to shuffle as ball travels

What's the best way to review these patterns with 11U's so that they're not standing around the whole time and losing focus? Do you have any drill suggestions that could help gel this for that age group?

I’m actually planning a 9v9 dedicated attacking pattern video next. Similar to my 7v7 vid. I’ve had a lot of request for it.

Hi Coach. What about a video about some principles of play.
@CoachRorySoccer Жыл бұрын
In general? Attacking, defending, specifically in a certain formation?
@ThommyShelbyy Жыл бұрын
@@CoachRorySoccer I would say split in attacking and defending. If you want to put even more work in it, you could split it in the four phases. We have the ball. Oponnent has the ball. Attacking after winning the ball. Defending after losing the ball.

what about pressing against 3-2-3 team?
@CoachRorySoccer Жыл бұрын
Depends on how they are building up. Also what formation are we in?

Hey Rory ! I have a question. What do you do against a dominant opponent? How do you play? What are some ways to keep morale up and keep myself , the coach, positive through the whole match? As you may know sometimes club games can be a mismatch , what advice can you offer?
@CoachRorySoccer Жыл бұрын
This is a great idea for a video. In short you defend and try to counter but it really depends on the specific strengths and weakness of your team and what the opponent does well etc.

How come you don’t like the 3-3-2 formation?
@CoachRorySoccer11 ай бұрын
It really how you look at it. I guess you could defend in a 332 but in possession what does the midfield look like? Like how are you building up in a 332? A 323 and 431 for me provide more natural angles and support. In the end it’s all how you train and coach it really.
