Looks a lot like the hubs I designed for Vittoria in 2013. Which was adopted in some way by DT 😏. Slanted spoke hole 'ribs' to achieve a 1-spoke length for the whole wheel 👍

for the love of god can you test these rims aero drag and rolling resistance with 25mm tires. My 25mm gp5k tires with lattx tubes measure out to 28mm with 21mm internal/28mm external rims. I believe a 28mm gp5k would swell to near 30mm on 28mm wide rims.

I was wondering - deep rim (say 50/60mm)+round spokes vs shallow (30mm)+bladed spokes (say sapim aero spokes). How much worth of an advantage will the later option give, it will be more aerodynamic than the same rim with regular spokes but how much? As in more or less aerodynamic than 40mm? Could anyone tell me?
@BLVBak

Thanks for the good test work. Regarding the effect of spoke tension on lateral stiffness of the wheel then there is the stress stiffening effect where for example a column has a reduction of bending stiffness when the compression load increases (eventually leading to bifurcation buckling). So if the lateral stiffness of the wheel is partly due to the rim bending it could be influenced by higher spoke tension. I think I ones observed this on some skinny Stan’s alu rims I built before I learned to read the tension-meter properly and over tightened them significantly. Most likely this is insignificant effect on the large cross sections with noncrazy tension in the spokes.

@ThisIsANameBruh

it's an outfront camera that has some technology to erase its stand. It's post processing image manipulation done by the camera itself without you noticing. Probably uses "AI" in some capacity. Not new tech. You can actually see some bluriness in the middle of the handlebars, that's where the camera is deleting parts of its out front mount.

“NOT SO STIFF WHEELS” I actually like those. Novatec Jetfly SL vs Fulcrum Racing Zero For daily training rides, I actually prefer the Novatec Jetfly SL. It’s so much more forgiving on harsh roads. More comfort gets me going. My training rides are structured. I only care about pushing the power out. A not so stiff wheel actually makes it a better experience since structured workouts are brutal enough. I don’t need a bl**dy stiff wheel to transfer every single road buzz to my brains 💀 Not to mention, I can score two sets of Novatec Jetfly and still have change for coffee and cake compared to getting the Fulcrum Racing Zero

Now that is something interesting! If they went for r13, novatec or any of many similar hubs, it would have turned out cheaper and simpler for 9velo. But definetely not as appealing for buyers. Hypothesis about yaw vs CdA: the graph shows greater variance for smaller angles, meaning wheel depth plays a greater role. 6 degrees is a critical value for flow separation and is resulting of rim profile, not depth. With greater angles wheels are stalling equalily and the only difference becomes side view area, hence the greater variance again. Might be just an artifact of approximating two regimes with a single graph, because there are definetely too little data points around 6 degrees.
@Rose.Of.Hizaki
@Rose.Of.Hizaki Жыл бұрын
Would it work out cheaper? I thought keeping things "in house" would work out cheaper as youre not having to pay any extra overheads when it came to production. Afaik Novatec and Powerway hubs are made in Taiwan (Is 9velo from Taiwan??)
@feedbackzaloop
@feedbackzaloop Жыл бұрын
@@Rose.Of.Hizaki dunno about origin of 9velo, but can only guess PT would never work with Mainland. As per inhouse production, it turns out cheaper if you can match the numbers. With forging, casting and semi-automated assembly hub production is a costly upfront investment.
@Rose.Of.Hizaki
@Rose.Of.Hizaki Жыл бұрын
@@feedbackzaloop Im guessing 9velo are from China like EliteWheels, Farsports, Winspace and all the other cheap carbon wheel brands that popped up within the last few years and started selling direct to consumer. so partnership between manufacturers based in TW definitely isnt in the cards. I assume they already had the resources available to build their own hubs otherwise they wouldnt be doing it. though since their inhouse hubs are based off DT swiss hubs. There shouldnt be a whole lot to dislike unless the workmanship is terrible or the hubs are insanely loud like the hubs on HUNT wheels.

Same. I put in an order last week and its still not shipped. I wish their website was a little more intuitive. On their 'Shipping' page they talk about lead time and how much time they need if wheels are in stock/out of stock or custom builds but there is nowhere on the website or the orders page that tells you if they have stock. Just 'awaiting payment', 'awaiting shipping' and 'shipped' I understand that its probably not going to arrive for a month as i chose the cheapest shipping option but i still check the status of my order every morning when i get up and every night before bed...I just want to see it marked as shipped so I know to start the countdown.
