He's been smashing it whilst the others have done much less since retiring from the pro ranks. No surprise Ollie decided to grinch the challenge. Make him do a Tri as a forefeit.

They're not great for anyone athletic, except the winner. Sub 18 is needed to start being competitive for winning casual 5k's and 15mins and change for less casual races.

All of them did really good job! For non runners, anything below 25 minutes is really good. For over 40years old guy, non runner, 18 min 5k is crazy good!!!

I have really enjoyed dan,s getting fit from being the oldest to nailing the boys! Especially since me being over seventy its nice to know we can all train to be a lot better than we probably are!

I saw Dan's time on Strava on the 18th and was blown away by how fast he is at his age and size. Just absolutely amazing he did that in a little over 18 minutes. Being around Dan's age, I thought my 5k time of 21:15 was good then I saw his. Although mine wasn't on a flat track like that. I might need to see what I can do without elevation. But great job Dan, you are getting super fit.

Those would be good times for non-athletic children, but not for grown athletes. I'm really surprised at how difficult this was for them, and how much they suffered at such slow paces.

@@Foxpark97 They never really run. It's completely normal if you're a cyclist that you will be struggling when starting to run because you don't have the right muscles trained. Same thing will happen to someone who only runs and then picks up cycling.

@@Invincable84 With their self-claimed VO2 max levels, they shouldn't even strain until they get under 17 minute pace for a 5K even with their lack of running coordination. They were breathing HARD and looked like they would puke at any time. It's not like they aren't using highly trained leg muscles to run. Except for the first fellow, they are all literally slower than many grannies and 12 year old girls.

GCN: We are not runners GCN proceeds to have Dan run under 6 minutes per mile pace, Si and Alex run under 7 minutes per mile pace and Conor being the “slow” one with under 9 minutes per mile pace. I hate to break it to GCN but they are runners.

What I'd love to see as a GCN video is the guys having a go at cross-country skiing. I watch a lot of c/c and Biathlon too and remember a commentator saying recently that cross-country leg fitness and road cycling fitness are a very close match. UNO-x sponsor a lot of the Norweigian skiiers so would be a good sponsor tie-in as well if you could persuade them to get involved?
