It’s 2020 and I still feel as strongly today as I did when I first learned of Roy Williamson’s passing that he was taken too young and has left a hole in Scottish traditional music that nobody will ever fill.

I'm only an Englishman, I've listened to the Corrie's for many years. From the first time I heard them my life was enriched. I discovered a whole world of Scottish music. They are so talented so real to their art and belief. Long live Scotland, Corrie's endure forever, despite this very sad time. Heartfelt thanks to you both.

This star in heaven will never die. He did not scratch an old head, but for a man like Roy his mortal body passed away, but his memory will live forever more in the hearts of his admirers. From this old codger nearing the end of his span of life. I THANK you ROY for being you.

What a thought. 18 years this August 12th. I remember when I heard the news; couldn't believe it. Was not a glorious 12th that year. Sad, sad loss and Ronnie's tribute was so touching from one dear friend about the other. Yes they did capture the movement in Scotland at the time but now it is even more poignant. I also hardly ever passs a day without a Corries tune.

It's funny how the trail twists and turns when looking for something on KZbin. I first found The Corries looking for "Scotland The Brave". I found it so funny and the music so good that I went on for more of the music that The Corries did from that point.

glad to hear that. great to hear there's another generation keeping them alive. we used to sing their songs in the minibus at the youth group I was in. knew them all by heart by the time I was 13 lol. then when I was older we went to pubs with live folk singing, something that is very hard to find these days in edinburgh unfortunately. singing with kevin tait in the candlemakers down the grassmarket. fond memories indeed. ronnie stays up morningside I believe. their live shows, even on recording, were always better than the studio recordings. terrific interaction with the audience, true "folk" singing, something the few "folk" pubs left have forgotten

doug sykes their songs are extremely popular in my pipe band, when we go to competitions on the coach we sing them all the way home! Just turns out that one of our new tunes we will be playing in our new MSR is haughs o' cromdale which I believe the corries sang! You would be surprised just how much their music is still alive in the pipe band world

I've always had pride in my Scots heritage, you can really feel it in the pipes when your heart races as you hear them playing, but it wasn't until I heard "Flower of Scotland" on You Tube, sung by a crowd of fans at the games that I realized just how powerfully felt your anthem has become. I'm proud to be an American, but a part of being American is your pride in where your people came from.

@KoteVode I think some people like "disliking" anything. Who can "dislike" an obituary? It's like disliking a gravestone or booing a funeral address. Whatever you think of the rights and wrongs of the Scottish political situation and the viability of independence, "disliking" this is pointless.
