I received my AI port yesterday and have so far been using it with my Dahua Starlight PTZ dome. I plan to add my Reolink doorbell to it once I can add more than one camera. I had wondered how the AI port would deal with the Dahua’s own smart motion tracking but so far it seems to happily track the motion that the camera is also tracking. Took a little while to convince the alarm manager to show the AI-enhanced Dahua in the “Scope” list but seems to be working ok now.

Thank you! I've been wanting to see if the AI Port would enable LPR for 3rd party cameras.

Glad I could help!

I have mine setup on my Reolink Doorbell for now. I also am going to test it with my Annke dual camera 180 deg camera as well.

How does it work with Reolink Doorbell?

Awesome, let me know the result and how it works with the Annke

I'm having great results with my Dahua dual 4k sensor 180° cam paired to one of my AI ports. I'm even getting decent LPR, at not good angles. It's not the intention I have for the cam but it's actually doing it, although not great because it's not set up for LPR. I have another paired to my G4 doorbell pro I just installed and it's doing good too.

I wonder if it would do LPR and facial with the AI360 cams? I have two of those on property and they are the best located for scanning those who come and go. My other front property cams see the front of a vehicle (but we don't use front plates here), so a pull-in and pull-out would not reveal the plate, but the AI360 would have seen them. I know the Viewport didn't properly handle them, it would not dewarp the video, so it was returned. If you or a follower have tried it with the AI360, I would love to know the results!

I don't think it will work, because that camera is from the AI series, and the faq states it only works on G3/G4/G5. But I'll get my AI port today and have an AI360, so I'll try it out and let you know.
@InsideWire3 күн бұрын
The AI360 does not have the advance AI features and also as its was said its only for G3/G4/G5 series, but I would be intrigued to know the answer if its different.
@basscheutjens66122 күн бұрын
I've tested it and the AI360 is indeed not supported. When you see the list with camera's to select which one you want to pair with the AI port, the AI360 camera is not shown.

There is no resolution limitation on the five Ubiquiti cameras. You can do up to five 4K UniFi Protect cameras per AI Port. You just cannot do any of the existing AI cameras like the AI 360 camera.

If you happen to receive the AI LPR when its released for a review, Id appreciate a follow up video to that review with a comparison of the AI LPR and a HikVision LPR+AI Port combo for comparison.

Did you turn WDR on Hikvision camera ? It would let you see reg number with IR on.

This setting was turned off :( I will be trying this again tonight and will see what it looks like.

Is it possible to choose the 4K quality ONVIF streams of the Hikvision with this unit?

No

Its what is set within the web interface of the camera, not within protect.

I have my AI port setup on my G4 Doorbell POE and it works, but there must be a bug, as it never generates a thumbnail. The thumbnail is just blank, you can click on the blank thumbnail to see the video of the face recognition, but thumbnail is bugged. It appears to only do this on the doorbell, as I have an AI port setup on a G4 Pro and thumbnails are working fine when it generates an event for face recognition.

This is everyone’s experience so far. Ubiquity apparently shipped it before the Protect software update was compatible with it.

Got my AI port today Using with a G5 turret in driveway. Its mounted kind of high so I'm not sure if its going to pick up plates going to test tomorrow ..it seemed to struggle making out face detections. I really had to look right at it to get to pick up my face.
@InsideWire3 күн бұрын
Let me know how you get on with the license plate.
@David-h5m1d2 күн бұрын
@@InsideWire I drove by it with my truck this morning and it did not pick up the license plate. It picked up the vehicle being a truck, but did not get the license plate. I reassigned the port to another G5 turret that has a lower mounting location and hope it will be able to capture the license plates from that angle.🤞🏻
@David-h5m1dКүн бұрын
So far not impressed. I’ve only had it pick up 2 plates out of 10-15 that have passed and faces don’t seems to tag unless you are super close or staring at it. Hoping it improves after an update

How are you getting it to show which person? I have AI Detections on my Flex G5 cameras, but I haven't seen anything like this in my UniFi NVR. Does this only work through the AI add-on tool?
@InsideWire3 күн бұрын
Are you talking about on playback and live view?
@craigsamuels78953 күн бұрын
Am new to the UniFi system. I already got a USM-SE, and my cctv system is hikvision with the nvr. What I would like to know is, if I unplugged my hikvision cameras from the nvr and plugged it directly into the AI port, will it work without any configuration of the cameras? I want to get rid of my hikvision nvr and have everything under my UDM-SE, instead of having two separate systems. Keep up the good work.
@InsideWire2 күн бұрын
I did this exact same thing. I plugged the cameras into a POE switch and adopted them in UniFi Protect. With the AI port, you dont even need to plug the camera into it, you can just connect it to a switch. However, you can plug the AI port in to a POE injector/POE Switch and plug the camera directly into the AI port. It can work both ways.
@craigsamuels78952 күн бұрын
@InsideWire Thank you very much for your reply. I will buy one and do that. I got 2 hikvision colorvu cameras, and it would be much cheaper for me to buy the AI port and do that.. keep up the great work as always 😀👊🏾.
@procekimКүн бұрын
i think the usage is rather limited. Sure it does detect, but then there is nothing you can do about it. IFTT would be great if you could for example create a scene or action. Car arriving Reads number plate and opens a gate. Hik vision or dahua does have this already. This device should cost 50 max. Issue is also reading during night, IR is useless detecting faces. Hik or Dahua does have already colour night vision.

Most of the 3rd party camera have certain detection and recognition features. Can't they just enable that instead of having to buy the Ai port? But I see why they would sell you the Ai port to make money.

wow the G4 WiFi has a terrible image quality. i wasn't expecting it to be that bad. as for the AI port.... until i see the firmware that supports multiple cameras.... this thing will be too expensive for what it does. if they enable the multi-camera support.... sure the price will justify the product. I hope we could do like 1 Onvif and 1 Protect camera but i don't see that happening for some reason. probably marketing... I can't wait to see what the AI Key will bring to the game
