Neos SmartCam - Continue using this camera after they shut it down! ONVIF & Home Assistant support!

Brett, mate, help...... I have 9 Neos Smartcams !! I have followed your video to the letter ..... When attempting I get: 1. Camera Not flashing Blue at ALL Or 2. Have it go around in the Blue / Orange flashing all night and never finish the install update. I have also tried a 30 second reset on the cameras before attempting. I've tried 4 of my cameras and not got any to finish updating. I am Formatting and re coping files before each try. I have a 4GB SD card. I am holding down button before power goes on. It goes Blue / then starts (or not) / The camera SHOUTS, "INITIALISING FIRST BOOT / then never finishes .......... I followed your link to get the files.

Hi, i followed the process, the light didn't turn blue, so inrelesead the reset button. No it plugged camera back on, there is no light and wont respond.

Am I right in thinking this fix won't allow remote live viewing on mobile phones?

Not on its own no, so I use this hack to then pull the feed in to home assistant and then can use the HA app to view outside my house.

You'd need to leave it in the camera after first boot as it'll be used to store recorded footage 👍

I followed the process, the light didn't turn blue, i kept holding the reset button, i had to release thw reset button.now it wont turn onn and no.light at the back. Tried pressing reset button for 30 sec no luck

Are holding reset BEFORE turning it on? Needs to be before. The button is really fiddly

Thanks for the video Brett. Before I have a try with it, do you know if the leak sensors & hub are shown anywhere in the Thingino GUI, or is it all related to the camera functions? I've lost leak monitoring now that the Neos app is dead and would dearly like to re-use the leak sensors as they are pretty good.

I'm afraid the leak sensors and hub aren't picked up by this software. I don't have any to try, but I'm sure I heard somewhere that they could be repurposed somehow.

Thanks! You will be able view them when on your local network through the mobile website, you'd have to either set it up with your router or via an app like Home Assistant if you wanted to do it live outside of your house. If you record to SD card you can view it after the fact. Hope this helps!

Thank you! Yeah, there's no reason it shouldn't work on a Mac as long as you can format the SD card as FAT32.

Ok I am planning to use my neos with an sd card. New sd card formatted and inserted and have checked and it is recording video well. The problem I have is that sound is not being recorded. Dont think its the sd card as I copied a another video file on it and there is sound so it must be the camera. As there is no app anymore does anyone know how to get sound on the recording. I have even tried to reinitialise the camera but this has not fixed it. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Sound worked on my ones, but maybe try choosing the opposite format for recording than you've chosen, so try MP4 if you have MOV selected or vice versa?

I'd recommend reaching out to the project team with the errors you've received as they're a really helpful bunch and will probably be able to fix it for you!

Think my finger came of reset button at plug in is there a fix

I'd try and run the process again and see if that fixes it. If you didn't hold the reset button down then it won't have done anything to the camera yet.

No, this is a complexly new firmware and operating system. You can put the Wyze cameras on this also.

I used a 32GB, the bigger the more recordings you'll be able to store on the card
