The way I look at things in general for Mexico as far as cities: 1) Monterrey is Mexico's engine. It's where stuff gets made. It's a city that works....much like the Midwestern USA...think the old Detroit or Chicago. The only difference is the mountains. Mexico City is like Washington DC and NYC combined. It's the equivalent to Manhattan and Washington DC's National Mall. Puebla is the Grand Dame of the "South". It is maybe like Atlanta. Merida is probably like Savannah GA. Cancun is like "Florida". Guadalajara is like Mexico's Silicon Valley... California Puerto Vallarta is maybe something like either Southern California or San Diego. Loc Cabis also fits this. Queretaro, that is maybe something like Seattle, Boise, Omaha, or Kansas City.. difficult to say. Tijuana, if it gets its crime rate under control, would maybe fit something like Seattle or Anchorage. Don't know. This is my take. I know it's not totally accurate. I do not even want this to be absolute. I know I am not perfect... though I have traveled extensively in Latin America. I am not a Mexican, and many apologies if I offended anyone.

I've never heard of this city to be a vacation destination, but a co-worker is there currently so I needed to see why they'd go there vs a beach area that is more commonly chosen. I have to say the natural and manmade landscape is just remarkable! The pricing of things just has me 🤯! That chocolate strawberry muffin that was 1.60 US$ would most likely be $8-$12 (depending on where in the US you are buying it). And $42.00 US per night for that Airbnb would be well over $100 a night in a US location.

@@NoNamePerson98 always depends of the city, and population density, here in Monterrey we are like 7,000,000 it's a big city, the third largest city in Mexico, but, isn't as big as the third largest city en U.S. If you walk around Monterrey Centro, the downtown, you can see a lot of homeless, specially in Juarez, cuauhtémoc and Pino Suárez avenue, even in below the bridges they have some camps, with electricity. I work in the downtown, and I can count at least 30 homeless just in the streets around the office. But certainly, I don't know if that is a lot for U.S. standard, but sure is a lot for Mexico.
