The word "Aishiteru" is like a big deal for Japanese. Even with family they wouldn't use it easily. I think the term they often use is "Suki" or for much feeling invested is "Daisuki". Aishiteru weights so much that the shy Japanese will absolutely avoid saying it in daily basis.. that's why they laughs when Lea said it. 😆

It's like when Indonesian said "Aku Sayang Kamu" instead of "Aku Cinta Kamu". Cinta is something like a big deal, and oftenly used in term of romance relationship. Sayang is not as big as Cinta, but Sayang is more universal and less cringey 😁

But sometimes saying "Sayang" is more meaningful for Indonesian than "Cinta" because it's more like love with selfless-ness feeling, like genuine feeling without really hoping to be loved back. You can "sayang" your cat, your sibling, your parents, your bestfriend and your spouse. Not that saying "Cinta" is lower than "Sayang", but it usually for romanticizing love story, you know..people who fall in love without care in their surrounding (bucin 😂). Well, I think, yes, I agree with you (and most Indonesian will also) that saying Sayang is less cringey... maybe it is same case with saying Aishiteru for Japanese?

Yes, aishiteru isn't an easy word to say for Japanese people. Besides, Japanese people is more like to show her love by actions rather than by words. By looking Léa's family laughing and joking together, we could see that they love each other. Anyway, something I stil can't understand, why I always smile when I see Léa?
