I wasn't expecting this program to help me, a grown adult, to deal with past bullying. I felt exactly like Trenyce about the revelation that mean people lie to make you feel bad. I went to sleep with a smile on my face, and I know now how not to be bullied anymore and how to help my future kids if they ever get bullied. Thank you Jo 💖

A lot of school authorities as well as those who check on abusive bosses are useless. Back in my hellementary school days, there were a few teachers, two in particular, a couple, there last name being Cole, which was very fitting for their hearts, and as for the other, even though he wasn’t nearly as bad, he was still able to make my list, and two IAs, one in particular who was rarely around but was a much bigger bully, that were bullies along with four students in particular who were notably worse then the other bullies. I went through a lot, believe me. To top it all off there was this one time when I went to the principal's office to talk to the vice principal about the bullying from the teachers and other students and I was angry, sobbing and the works and I did not hold back on how I felt or on what I was saying, but little did I know that the system for the entire schools speakers was on, so everyone in the entire school heard everything. Now, some of the things that was done to a good friend of mine, who has Cerebral Palsy, well, she had an instructional assistant, same one I had, who at times put the lock of her locker on backwards as she was being timed, sometimes also having her wear an intentionally heavy nap sack when she was walking with her crutches when she already had a hard enough time with nothing extra weighing her down, on the odd occasion had her crutches put towards the classroom door so she had to use the desks to balance herself to get to them, one day she slipped and fell in the mud on her way to one of the portables and she was forced to enter the classroom. As for me, I have roughly thirty regular sized pages with regular sized font single spaced, I think it was around fifty or so before it was edited for me, of a bunch of the unfair stuff that happened to me. Anyways, after the schools PA system incident, the bullying got even worse. It did not matter that mom and dad called and tried to help. No one was able to do anything at all for me, nothing, I was a caged animal with no escape/no way to get any kind of help. Even now, emotional abuse is not something that the cops will typically intervene in. Then one day towards the end of the seventh grade I just snapped completely on one of the bullies, ripped his shirt, tackled him to the ground and would not stop going completely ballistic on him, just absolutely out of control. The lunchroom/recess supervisor who basically did pretty much nothing against emotional bullying ended up pulling us apart and if she hadn't have stepped in then I would not have stopped. The thing about these days is with the internet, social media/etc it just seems like there is a lot more evil stuff going on because it is a lot easier to uncover it, and kids/teens, as well as adults, seniors, etc, need to be encouraged to stand up to bullies, if they can, and to stand up against bullying when they see it happen and to secretly record if things get bad enough, recording live stream if possible just incase they get caught.having those recording being recorded to some secret place on the web that the victim can have access to those files when and if they ever need them. Recordings that will never be seen/known by the bullies if they do happen to snatch the recorder, if this advanced type of option is even possible. Back when I was a young teen, one day I just had this switch in my head that just flipped instantly and for quite a while I had random moments when I had to do or say something bad, thankfully I had many options and they didn't have to be something that was too horrible, so I was able to narrow it down to the least severe ones that would still cause the attacks to go away for a while, and they were either swearing, there were a decent amount of times when I had to do it in front of someone that did not want to hear it, or dialling nine one one, the nine one one was done twice when I was near enough to a phone when it happened so I tried to stay away from phones as much as I felt that I could cause I knew/know how important the nine one one service is for people. I know that it is hard for most to grasp this, but I actually had no choice when these impulses came into my head. It was like a forced Tourettes. Try if you can to imagine a combination of both Anger and Fear that would start off at a level that was still higher then what any human being should ever have to endure and them just constantly getting worse from there when I did not do one of those two things. So yeah, I had to make it go away until the next attack. There were no set times, places, etc, they would just happen, and sometime I would get two or more attacks very shortly after each other. Then finally one day, I had my last attack and that was it, so I consider myself to be very, very lucky cause I was getting to the point where I was almost ready to just end it all. As for the job end of things, with my second last boss he was a real master at manipulation, could be one of the most vicious to one of the most loving people you have even met on the drop of a dime, flip of a switch, and knew how to pull peoples mental, emotional strings, and believe me when I say that I make a really good target especially during some days when I was the first/only one there where at times there were alcohol and beer bottles over the floor and during those time especially he had the kind of rage that literally shook my body and went right through to my very soul. One of the worst things that pretty much sums up modern day justice was when a fellow worker called workers rights and they gave the boss a two weeks advance notice of them coming by to inspect the place, obviously giving him enough time to make enough changes for as long as the inspections went on which is crazy because every inspection should be a surprise one. He never had more than four people working since anymore than four would mean the occasional inspections. The worker who reported him got blacklisted and was not able to get another job, then one day we found out that he committed the act of un aliveing himself. And people wonder why very few ever come forward in regards to abuse. Well, maybe it is because many do but very few of the ones who come forward ever get any real help. I bet that most reports that actually are filed get trashed and a fair number of the others altered. Even back when I was a kid, you could have video footage and only use the parts that make your case look good while trashing the other person, now that never happened to me, but for any parent teacher conferences, which should be illegal because the kids should be there too, and, well, who knows what might have been said behind my back during any of my schooling where it was just the parents and teachers talking as those and other conversations should have all sides of the story. I was mentally/emotionally trapped there for like eight years and as such I have lots of stuff that I typed about that job/torments as well as a couple videos I made of shots that I took in secret, there was one time in particular where the boss, a strong guy, took a large post and just chucked it at me in a way so it barely missed me.

@@NoNameArtist89 Bullying is awful indeed. And it's not always avoidable either, because children and adults tend to be mean. Yet, in many instances, it is! Number 1 chance of getting your child bullied, is by overfeeding your child. Obese children can't keep up with their peers. Are always last at games, among the last to be picked for teams for sport. That's devastating for their self-esteem and an invitation to either become aggressive themselves (as reaction to being hurt) or become vulnerable and depressed. So feed your child with healthy meals and snacks of whole grains, vegetables and fruits. Another thing is, that you want your child to be balanced emotionally. Don't neglect it, but don't helicopter it either. There's loads of books and info on the internet on how to set your child up well for life in almost every circumstance. Take advantage of this vast knowledge. Feed your brains instead of racking them :) The KZbin channel of Emma Hubbard is a GREAT resource for learning how to get started. With a wise start and a good foundation, your child has many advantages in life! Love your child enough to go through this, and if you have a stable partnership, go through it together. Discuss it. Discuss how it went in your homes. Come up with a solid plan for raising your children best. You might like Jordan Peterson as well, as he's very versed and knowledgeable about what generally helps people succeed. One of his rules for succeeding in life, is that you must not allow your child to be dislikeable. If you can't stand it's behaviour, why would anyone else? Peterson gives good advice to (young) people in general to get their lives together. When you as a parent have your life together, that will most certainly have a positive effect on your children. Enjoy!

Oh wow, thanks for taking so much time / effort to answer. Appreciate it :) I was wondering specifically about the concrete situation "child directly tells me he/she's bullied and what best to do then", roughly. I guess I was imagining a child with normal weight and mainly emotional trouble. In my opinion, there could be a conflict inside of the child like wanting the bullying to stop on the one hand / asking for help, and managing it by themselves, alone, on the other hand. Maybe I'd say something like "that sounds awful, noone wants to be bullied. How about we think together about how to solve the problem, what do you think?" A big, big problem is shame, from my point of view. I think being bullied is associated with so much shame/embarassment, that victims rather not open up about it. @@gardenjoy5223

Nine years is a hell of a long time, they could have tried a nutritionist or a child psychiatrist when home remedies failed. Significantly overweight children - I'm not talking about just chubby children, but obese children, and this little girl is obese - unfortunately are more likely to be teased or bullied at school, or just to generally feel left out and excluded in school because they can't participate in sports and outdoor games and activities due to their weight. This naturally causes them emotional distress which affects their behaviour, which makes school even harder for them; it's a vicious cycle. It's the fault of the parents for not taking charge of their child's eating in order to prevent the child from becoming obese in the first place. We're not helping any children by ignoring or normalizing this; obesity in childhood is devastating for a child and sets a child up for lifelong health problems.@@ljmcdonald2703

@@ljmcdonald2703 What a dumb comment. Up to almost 50% of obese children get bullied, just because of that. Girls more than boys. This girl as well. So to address her obesity would help her very much! It's the main problem here! The mother is a weak person, who's given in to her own and her daughters ill food choices! She is literally setting her daughter up for being bullied! That girl comes last in active games, is among the last to be chosen for team sports. She can't keep up with others. In a world so focused on thin being beautiful, her obesity destroys that chance for her. When mother acknowledges that she has to give her child healthy food and snacks and take care rewards are quality time with mommy at the park, instead of an extra bowl of crisps for the television, then this can be changed in as little as a year. Since this girl can stand up for herself, she only needs to regain her self-confidence in being able to do normal things for kids her age. The extreme food intake makes that impossible right now. Change that and she'll get better at almost all things. And she won't have to go through the many health problems, that come with obesity. It can take up to 20 years of her life span! Horrid mother!

Giving children the green light to defend themselves from bullying is really important, especially for their confidence. I remember my dad telling me and my sister, when we were in primary school, to punch a bully in their nose, that they will get scared from a little nose bleed and run away. That alone helped immensely. We learned to show teeth when picked on, and I went even further, defending people from bullying my whole school life. I know people frown at suggestions of violence, but it made my tiny butt so secure and unafraid, nobody even tried to mess with me, and I never really had to apply dad's advice. Dads can have such an effect on children and form the braveness in their personality. It's really important to have such a figure in one's life. Dads reading this, make your kids brave and tough, give them that green light.

This sounds exactly like a food phobia brought on by a negative experience with other foods, or a violent reaction which caused him to associate meat, vegetables etc. With feeling or being sick. I finally ate scrambled eggs at 37 after a bad experience when I had a vomit virus as a child. I still can't handle boiled, poached or fried egg white (due to being force fed as a toddler), or any sausage or patties with gristle. It’s a common thing to develop an aversion for a food you consumed when you were sick as a child, esp one you were forced to eat, which should never be done to a child or to anyone. My mother made me drink a small glass of frozen concentrated orange juice every morning when I was a child, as she worried about me getting enough vitamin c because I was a picky eater and wouldn’t eat most fruits and vegetables. I hated the smell and taste of the stuff and would beg her not to make me drink it, but she wouldn’t let me leave the table until it was gone. Then one morning I actually threw up after drinking it. She started giving me chewable vitamin c tablets after that and never made me drink that stuff again. I still find the smell of it nauseating. In comparison, pure orange juice smells and tastes fine to me.

Some parents enter these disfunctional dynamics out of fear. Guys, that boy is capable of eating and is not going to starve in a house full of food! Mom being so afraid of him dying, shows you how the boy has unconsciously used that to get his own way. Negative attention also is attention. Now the boy is malnourished and not really well developed, so mom worries even more but just gives him the same food choice. Fact is, he does not know what he likes, but that has been his learned habit and mom even feels bad for giving him something different. This mom needs help and a reality check. So often, the parents enable disfunctional behavior.

You can tell by the way Max looks at everyone and makes sure they’re looking at him before he takes a bite of anything that it’s all about attention and he wants a reaction out of them. Mom gave in far too many times that it became a mental thing in his head and he needs to see a doctor and a psychiatrist about these issues to get them fully sorted out. Jo definitely helped a lot but there is some serious mental health stuff going on there that needs to be sorted out sooner than later before it turns into anorexia

Make it a race he can actually win. I'm at a loss for the peas though. Why put so many on his plate, when he clearly doesn't like them yet? Give him the one vegetable, he already does like. It's now about eating more and growing an appetite by getting a larger stomach. The hungrier you are, the easier food goes in, as we all know.

Maybe today's parents realise that arbitrary rules such as closing your mouth when you eat really are insignificant compared to the rest of their development.

@@kitchenmumma7596 how can you compare basic table manners with a child's development?! They are two completely seperate things. A child's development is of the utmost importance, 100%. A simple reminder to your child to close their mouth when they are eating is just very simple and basic manners

@@nickyshaw7677 my point exactly... I am saying it's more important to focus on their development rather than the fact that they open their mouth at the table. He's 9. He isn't on a date with a girl, nor at a fancy party.

I disagree, basic table manners has got nothing to do with fancy meals etc. My 5 year old niece eats with her mouth closed. Falls into the same category as saying please and thank you. As you say, he's 9, h s not 2, he should know basic manners

Teaching him basic manners is not going to harm his development, bit pointless to compare the two
