A 1,2-Punch Heads for Earth and a Hidden Eclipse Surprise | Solar Storm Forecast 14 April 2024

My forecast this week has some special eclipse coverage you won't want to miss. This special segment goes into what our Sun kept hidden in plain sight during totality. If you were lucky enough to see the big prominence dangling from the limb of the Sun (on the ground it looked like it was on the southernmost edge), then you also got to see the tethering of a solar storm, suspended high in the solar atmosphere, before it was able to launch as a CME. Although not unique, seeing such a magnetic configuration as this during a solar eclipse is rare. No doubt, there will be many scientific analyses that combine space-based and ground-based observations of the eclipse in comprehensive studies of this event. In all likelihood, we will learn even more about the physical mechanisms of eruptive prominences and be able to study their fine-scale dynamics in far more detail. That is the really cool thing about eclipses during solar maximum. The Sun's corona is full of opportunities!
As for the weather this week, expect a good chance for aurora on April 14-15. We also have big flare players entering the scene again, so radio blackouts are back on the menu. This means amateur radio operators and GPS users will need to deal with increasing noise on the dayside radio bands and stay vigilant for R1 to R2-level radio blackouts. Yes Miss Skov I saw it all during our solar work party. Was AWESOME made 2 pm look like a TEXAN late evening. Was life changing for us all watching it all. They played Beatles (hear come the sun) and ( black hole sun) and other songs relating to the eclipse. I saw the red light on the bottom right as well with my eyes during totality was cool.

Actually today its extremely low noise in the 11 meter and other bands, so radio quiet I had to check my antenna connections, and yep unplug it, no static, plug it back in, no static. But tuning across that zero static, stations jump out to full signal strength, DX windows from Hawaii across the Atlantic into Norway, Scotland, and Europe. I've heard or seen a few thing about some 7 year earth cycle that throws a pulse into space, haven't really heard of it before, but if so radio conditions might be showing that earth may be throwing off some ground plane energy into space that builds up every seven years. Btw what do you think of the eclipse image I captured and linked to, it captures the Sun' gravity well, the prismatic refraction of actual light waves bent by the gravity well, also cast upon the gravitational well on the back side of the Sun, a gravitationally lensed phantom image of the Sun behind the moon showing the Sun's wobble and displacement from its center of the gravity well. You can even determine a sense of the curvature of the gravitational well on the bright ring, or near the backside of the Sun where the actual light waves appear more as "spectral lines", as these light waves are being bent by the gravitational well, like a prism and you see the bending ridge of the light waves, those coming towards us and those refracting away from us upon the other rings. It is practically a total 90 degree refraction of light bending through the prismatic effects of the Sun's well (the gravitational lensed phantom) and the Moon's eclipse, same thing you would expect from a prism.

The spiral wave is like a bell, in Spain it is called PICA, I personally was already prepared for this since April 5, with the Gib of Lasco 3, I saw it clearly, and I have also studied the inclination of the Sun, thanks for your clarification

Thanks for telling us about that eclipse surprise. I always love to learn new things about our star and how it operates. I also had to laugh about the space ship taking on fuel from the sun. People are so desperate to explain natural features of the sun as being caused by aliens. In fact, whole books could be written about people mistaking atmospheric events on earth or on the sun's disk as caused by space aliens. This is why it always is a good policy to assume what we're observing is naturally caused.

I forgot to mention that I tuned in WWV on 5 MHZ during the eclipse. I heard it rise out of the noise as the moon's shadow passed over America. Then it faded into the noise once the shadow moved on. I couldn't pick up CHU Canada when the shadow crossed into Ontario. We didn't get much darkening in VE6 land so I experienced the eclips with my ears.

Space X sent 4 rockets into orbit within 24 hours of the solar eclipse, yet nothing during the eclipse. Would have been a great background for space x rockets going up and returning for landings. Maybe a math problem with computer models. 😊
