Nice video, I have several "refurbished" HMT watches, yours looks similar. Quite difficult to source original HMT's in the UK so I settled for the refurbs, they run well even after a couple of years & I appreciate that some amateur watchmaker has put them together to earn a few bucks. Thanks

Tweak/calibrate and you can get ±5 s/d.. i have citizen manual winding (the base of this hmt movement) and runs ±5 s/d after calibration

I have 3 hmt watches. hmt Bharat 17 jewels1981, hmt Kanchan Automatic 21 jewels 1982 and hmt quartz ladies 1988. All are running well till now. Blessed to having all 3 original hmt watches. Janta is also in our family but owned by uncle. May be one day I'll get it from him.

good video!! unfortunately this is an AM watch. No big deal as long as you know it . Only export variants in Janata came with TBC. Sad thing is these frankens are easily available but if possible we should try to get original ones 👍

I own one and it's a keeper and still running. Like many of us in Europe I bought it second hand. Invisible on the photographs it came with a crooked stem, so the crown doesn't sit exactly straight to the case. Would any one here be able to tell me more about the movement and where to source spare parts (crown, stem, et cetera)? Thank you very much for this informative video Best regards from Belgium

I'm honestly not sure where to source parts from in Europe. I think you could try taking it a local watch repair centre. If they can service Japanese movements, they might be able to service this

Brother i am an hmt collector and have multiple hmt’s in my collection this is not a real hmt watch this is a franken watch made with fake aftermarket parts and that’s probably why its losing 2-3 minutes everyday my handwounds have better accuracy and hmt no longer makes the devnagri model and on the secondary market this watch is worth atleast 10-12k inr or 150$ The condition of the current website is pathetic watches restock once or twice every month in very small quantity they get sold within seconds but i would suggest you to look for an original one whenever you visit india every indian should own atleast one real hmt until then enjoy this one ❤

@@TheWatchOut i have hmt janata silver , hmt janata silver limited edition of 50 , hmt kohinoor , ashwini , pinaki , chinar , pilot , jawan , braille , kanchan and sportstar in my collection been collecting since a long time Let me answer your question even post 2016 hmt makes watches with the remaining 0231 movements and sells them through website and showrooms in banglore after 2016 only their factories shut down they still sell watches and they will completely stop selling mechanical watches when their movements expire since they don’t have factories they don’t make new movements and since movements are so few they sell very less amount of mechanicals and coveted ones trade 3-5x retail on secondary market but the watch you bought isnt made by hmt original parts its made by resellers who use cheap case and dials and just put hmt movements in it sometimes even the movements are assembled which seems true in your case since the watch is already losing 2-3 minutes Since there is such a short supply and so much premium there has been a boom of such aftermarket watches many people buy these even after knowing they are am since they can’t get the original ones you can reach out to me on instagram if you need information about hmt or in general maybe i can share my collection of hmt’s with you

@@Om-ih5jv I don't know if they're duplicates, but I don't think they are. They are made from leftover parts after Hmt stopped producing new parts after they shut down in 2016

Nice video!! My mom had a gold rectangular HMT back in the day. They don’t make those models anymore, the longines Dolce vita evokes similar feelings. I’m thinking of buying it for her, but I’ve never purchased any expensive watch so I’m not sure if it would be worth it to spend around 130000 INR on a quartz longines or if there are better options and I should be researching more. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks a lot!! PS: I wont be able to afford a cartier or a JLC.

If you're looking for mechanical watches, you could find some good orient or citizen watches for under 30,000 rupees. If you can stretch to 50-60k, you could look into the Baltic MR01 or some Tissot watches. If you are open to used watches, you could find some good deals on these and some other, more expensive watches too

I had purchased one hmt janata watch from Divine watch co...issue with the watch is every 24 hrs the time is fast by 5 mins...returned the watch to the seller for repair...they returned it after 2 weeks saying everything is o.k but issue still remains...Is anyone facing similar issue?

Are you sure the watch isn't just magnetised? A watch repair shop should be able to fix it. Or a quick regulation might improve the accuracy a bit

@@TheWatchOut Issue is daily it is running 5 mins fast & if you don't set the time to correct time every day then after 5 days the watch is running fast by 25 minutes. Can a local watch person rectify it when the seller technican failed?

I am facing a similar problem in a hmt janata mod watch. Only thing is it is gaining 1 min a day after i wind everyday. It stops gaining 1 min after 5 mins in 5 days . Is it normal for a mechanical watch?
