What a fantastic boat. So envious! ;-) Truly a once-in-a-lifetime find. Still a bit heartsick about the previous owner, his renovation project, and ending. Brenton, you're absolutely right -- you just never know, so better to act now and not wait for the perfect time or perfect boat. Thanks for doing this video. Really enjoyed it. P.S. - Except ... Your dog going into someone else's house and walking on their kitchen table? Really shouldn't wait for the boat owner to correct that even if it seems like he doesn't object. Never should have happened in the first place. Everyone loves their pets (or kids), but they don't belong climbing all over other people's furniture. But maybe those are just old dinosaur manners that no longer apply in 2024.

There was a boat that looked like this one on the small like I grew up on in northwest Indiana. Flint lake, Valparaiso Indiana. They had a water slide that came down to the water from the roof. It was always a spotlight on the lake because it was the only houseboat on the lake. It stood out like a sore thumb. This makes me curious what ever happened to it, I wonder if its still there.
@myfavoritemartian16 ай бұрын
In my opinion a Barge hull is superior to a pontoon hull. It allows the floor to be lower, the bed to be lower (less rocking for sleeping) and draws less water with equal weight. The entire hull is displacement, where as pontoons are your only displacement even if you use three pontoons. But the pontoons might take waves better. I am in Arizona and we don't see barge hulls out here.
@whatyoumakeofit66356 ай бұрын
I agree, I've had the same thoughts. I would think the pontoons would have less drag in the water, requiring more power to push it along. I could be wrong. The barge hull may be easier to steer though, with it having more mass in the water to keep it from being pushed off course. One down side of the barge would be when the unfortunate event happens of getting stuck on ground ( as we've seen happen to the beagle boat ). It would probably be easier to get the pontoons free. I'd guess.
@myfavoritemartian16 ай бұрын
@@whatyoumakeofit6635 Given the same house weight, pontoons draw more depth than a barge hull. So they would also get stuck deeper in sand. Which would be easier to get unstuck? IDK? Never tried it. Maybe if you hooked a beagle to it?

@backwatersandbackroads6 ай бұрын
@lesliefleming4359 the problem with more HP is more fuel and carrying more fuel. There's a point of diminishing returns, especially with none planing hulls. Best to have enough to easily do hull speed economically and try not to be in a hurry.
