He is from the same state as me, or rather I should say, I'm from the same state of India as him, West Bengal. The noteworthy thing is that West Bengal is not as advanced in chess as South Indian states, notably Tamil Nadu (where Vishy, Gukesh and Pragg are from). Personally I believe we have a comparatively lacking infrastructure for chess. So Anish's rise is surprising for sure.
