Preamps should have EVERYTHING! Two headphone jacks powered by an auxiliary amp, outboard power supply, champagne cables, room correction with available ATMOS, a ladder DAC and a solid tungsten base with cast iron feet for isolation from vibration. Come on, Monoprice!

You sir, are a legend. the fresh air you bring into this niche corner of audio know-it-alls and their useless, non applicable opinions is appreciated. This video will actually make me look more into this unit, spend valuable time and buy one if I get a good deal. I actually need one. An EQ would have been golden but not the end of the world. The optical input for DS Audio cartridges is great. A versatile piece for sure, whether it’s a traditional analog setup or an integration of cutting-edge optical technology, this looks like a keeper. Thank you! Toodle-pip!, be good and don't get caught.

One thing to add about this after reading their other product lineup, KECES seemed to put a lot of thought and engineering into making this product (the S4) but they seemed to have also made in the same product line (as they call it the "Superior Series") a dedicated phono pre-amp AND a dedicated headphone pre-amp that's essentially the headphone and phono pre-amp of the S4 without additional outputs but does NOT have a dedicated discrete pre-amp (simple wire to gain attenuated balanced audio selector) to go along with those dedicated phono or headphone amplifier making me question why they even bothered with either a dedicated phono or headphone amplifier in the first place when the S4 does everything those do as good as they could possibly engineer it to be.

Surely Photile uses the "tile" from Futile and refers to the futility of audiophilia and the search for the perfect system. Similarly, motile, rather than being a term for aquishy organisms who bloody won't stand still, actually describes the futility of buying a $150 pressing from MoFi and expecting it to sound any better than a $30 pressing.

this does seem like a very good product for the price as you'd have to step up pretty far to get this quality, probably the closest thing in price would be the NAD M66 or maybe the Anthem STR preamp even those might not match the KECES S4 in pure quality. The only pre-amp I could find around the same price that also had an XLR4 headphone input is the Teac UD-701N which lacks phono.

Please be forgiving when I confess to not caring about the equipment as much as the music.....sounding better or worse on different equipment is inconsequential to the benefits of music for me

Is this better than stuff 3x its price? Did your wife (who was in another room) poke her head in the room because she noticed that it sounds better than the last time you played music when she was in another room?

No wife. No partner of any kind. I can’t waste my audio time with other people, but my Dad sure heard the difference and he can’t hear when the door slams shut, so that says something.
