This video should have millions of views. Or at a minimum, the exact number of reef tank owners on Earth ... I am grateful for this information and the way it was delivered. Ryan is an asset to the hobby and Aquacultured corals such as large single polyp LPS. I waited many years before getting into my first saltwater tank. Unfortunately, I still managed to make mistakes, and the biggest of all... Was adding specimens that I should have waited longer before adding and knew better. However, ignoring what I knew resulted in the loss of two nice torch corals and chalices. Wasn't such a great deal to pass up on the backend... Impulse purchases/Unplanned deals have been permanently sequestered now. We are all bound to make mistakes but try and remain mindful. That should help prevent some of the more avoidable accidents. A plethora of information and all the eye candy you can handle. This is an example of a video I will watch multiple times. Oh oh, and you can actually buy specimens from Ryan. What could be better? Keep the high-quality content coming Bahama Llama Coral!
@PazLeBon3 жыл бұрын
Been a hobbyist for years but am creating a more serious coral farm out here in Spain and have found many of your tours useful. My background is with cannabis and hemp and ive come to consider corals as the flowers of the sea and many of my own insights are in tune with 'reefing'. . One of these insights certainly relates to PH. Despite all the chemistry, soil, salts and environments, PH always dictates the assimilation and break-down of needed 'nutrients'. It simply has to be in quite a narrow window for the plants to really thrive .. The best balance is at 6.45 where 'most' nutrients can be assimilated efficiently. However there are elements that actually require that 6.8 and others the 6.4 for perfection. Difficult o achieve that swing in substrate. The fact that in tanks we have that natural fraction of change throughout the day/night leads me to believe there should probably be 'some' natural swing in PH, just a small % up and down from the median. I intend to do more actual testing of this with ranges starting at the 7.9 up to 8.3 and see how it compares to say a less variable 8.1

Since subscribing to your Chanel a few weeks ago I’m working my way through all your videos and this one is probably the most informative video I’ve seen and since getting into the hobby a couple of years ago I’ve watched hundreds of videos. Ryan’s explanation on PH and nutrients is the best so far and amazingly I understood his explanation. I’ve always had a high nutrient system (I like to feed my fish), phosphate usually 0.4-0.6 and nitrate 40-60ppm. I’ve always stressed about these high numbers even though I’ve never had an algae or Dino problem, and my corals (largely LPS) are all happy. I recently added a GFO reactor as I still want to get those numbers down as I would like to start dabbling in SPS, but I’m not going to stress about the high numbers as much now - so thank you for this great video!

You are without doubt a fantastic reefer and massively enthusiastic. As an old timer I have to say that my love is for true reefs and the form of nature so my taste in tanks reflects this. I am interested in large colonies displayed in a natural way so this frag tank style system is not for me but wow, the colour, health and effort going into the system is superb. It actually saddens me that the hobby is leaning towards collections and has seemed to have lost its love of biology but this system is a great example of the more modern style of reef keeping.
