Home is where the heart is and my heart belongs to the Highlands. This journey sees me dropped 85 miles (137km) from home and I head back through some of the highlands most beautiful scenery to try and get back home. I was unsure on certain parts of the route and wasn't sure it could be done, what a great adventure I had....

Binged about 10 hours of your videos over the past week, mate the videography, the narration and the locations are awesome, i really cant get up into the high hills just now and its genuinely like missing a loved one, but your videos are somehow a substitute. What i take from your videos and from my 100s of days on the hills is being up there is the only way you are blessed with the fleeting moments of true natural beauty, i cant wait until i can escape to the wonder of the mountains, until then i will be watching all your content with admiration and gratitude.... great channel all the best for 2024.

Great Murray! Out of your comfort zone in a field at Luncarty but happy up a snow covered Munro with your ice axe out😅 I grew up at Tulliemet so know and love the hills around Loch Ordie. I met a lad years ago at a disco in Pitlochry. I thought I'd show him my hills so took him on a hike up from Tulliemet and down Glen Derby......well you know what a bog fest that is: he had on slip-on shoes into the bargain!! However, it didn't put him off cause we celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary this Sunday💒 Loch Oisinneach - it was always pronounced 'Oshnie'. The wee, broken down house you passed was also called Oshnie, though in more recent times 'Jock's Bothy'. My dad knew 2 sisters who grew up in that house so occupied well into 20th century.

I just returned from a three day pilgrimage in the Mount Field Wilderness World Heritage Area (jings, thon's a moothfu'), essentially to see the only winter deciduous tree in Australia do its turn to gold and red. It's a popular and relatively accessible area, on the edge of very remote country and the novelty of the foliage brings the crowds out, especially to Tarn Shelf. I spoke to lots of folk who remarked Tasmania's mountains must be similar to Scotland - and they are, through a squinted eye, but for our literal hatchet job on the Caledonian Forest. Traversing the plateau on the way out is very redolent of a rich and varied Cairngorms, but never grazed by hoofed beasts the plant life is astonishing. We could have that again in a rewilded Scotland. I like these longer adventures, fulfilling Frodo's legacy perhaps 😉

What an achievement Murray, your a Rock 🪨 ! I’m glad there were no eyes staring back up at you from the Bog from hell ! As in the lord of the rings ! Did you find out what that big bird was at all ? I really felt it for you when you done your ankle in, all that way through some treacherous unstable walking ways and to think that it happened nearly at the end was horrible for you, I can’t believe you carried on, but you don’t give up Murray, no way, not after that treck ! As always a privilege to come along via the ethernet. I love Dunkeld and have fond memories with my mother there. Very picturesque. I’m having a Murray fest atm catching up on all I’ve missed, that’s my third today, I’m now going to watch “Cold” look after those ankles my friend, your keeping me feeling alive whilst I await my operation on my spine so I can walk again. Your videos mean a great deal to many of us I’m sure. With respect Alaya Norfolk.

Was on Beinn A Ghlo on Good Friday and up Glen Taitenaich on the Monday. I was chatting to my companions about your occasional detours to avoid the crowds and mentioned your bike in back to front loop of Beinn a Ghlo where you disappeared down the 'wrong' side of Carn Liath back to your bike. Little did I know you were doing the same again a stone's throw away. Was staying on Dalmunzie estate so cd pick and choose the Blue Sky days where you cd not. Never been up that track to the west of Carn an Righ. Might go up there next time round. Thanks again for the effort taken sharing your adventures Murray! J
