I've flown models for over sixty years, and that first flight of a new model always puts a lump in my throat. Did I measure everything correctly, is the center of gravity where it's supposed to be, are all the controls just right is there anything I forgot to do? it all runs at light speed until the wings feel air under them and the wheels lift off the ground, then its get up, trim and figure out how to get it down all in one piece, for a first fight, after that it starts to get easier and I can explore what it will fly like in depth. After a few flights it gets more routine, but that first one, it makes you think, sweat and knees wobble a bit.
