I can't believe he admitted "It wasn't supposed to fly but it did." Um, wow. I wonder if he thought the engines weren't strong enough to produce enough lift for an average adult. The wings sure look long enough to get it flying. Sorry if I'm rambling a bit. I'm still shocked by his statement that it wasn't supposed to fly!!

You have to really appreciate his tenacity to see this project through to the end. And the disappointment he must feel not being able to actually fly it himself now that it is done. Great job Mr. Bally.

not able to LEGALLY fly it and not being able to ACTUALLY fly it are different things. He won't have insurance coverage on it if he does fly it. Not sure he cares at this age - it's the love of his life, I think insurance coverage means to him now about as little as it did to the B-17 pilots on war missions in WW-2. Actually, I wonder if military aircraft have any insurance during war time? You get all kinds of insurance these days, but not from being shot down?

@@suzukirider9030 My Dad passed away 8 years ago and he was in training for over 1 year when the war finally ended. He always wanted to fly the B-17. He told me that upon volunteering the AAF gave a psychological test to determine if you should be a fighter pilot or a bomber pilot. Never realized his bomber dream but logged many hours in the air training to go to europe. That was a different era and such a proud generation of Americans. I think I was born in the wrong decade. I wish I was there with the guys.

Regulations bro. This guy got a bit lucky or was very persistent. Its like in China, its more free in some way. One guy built a sub and it was np. He takes around his lake and river all the time. In the US getting it registered would probably be more expensive than building it.

If folks want to know why the USA is in the mess it's in......this airplane is your answer. This is a representation of talent, skills, tenacity, hard work that the older generations had because most people were raised that way, it's the way the country got great, how we used to win wars, and all those things built men and women who did things, if they didn't know how to do it , they learned. That's what we're missing - A couple generations of doers all across the country who wanted a better life, to make a difference, and support freedom. It's up to you to give a name of what we have now. For me, I call it " Sh***%t..

Typical of our government, get you down and keep you down. Here is a man who put his heart and soul into building this beautiful replica and just because he wasn't multi-engined rated he wasn't allowed to fly it, even though he is a commercial pilot. Wrong Way Corrigan was told by our know-it-all government he was not to cross the Atlantic Ocean but he did it anyway and he became a hero. So much for Freedom!
