This is such a beautiful video that chronicles his real life with Lombard and after her death, both as combat pilot fighter and back to the screen. He died too young, but he had such a full life. He continues to captivate audiences today and will forever be the king of Hollywood. He and his charm and grace are so missed today. Btw, you're really telling a story about Gable's life here that is so heartbreaking, how his roles later in his life somehow mirror the way he moves on in his real life. Splendid work here.

Kay Williams was expecting thier son and he had that joy before his passing. So sad he was born after his father's passing.

Great video, this made me cry out loud everytime I watch it. CL's and CG's love story is the most tragic of all time, and make me so sad when i thinking about how they love each other.. and how much gable must missed her.. (Sorry my bad english..) btw, lovely video

Love your dipiction of their life together and Clark's life following her death! It was so sad that clark lost the love of his life!

Just studied the accident for nearly 20 years. Since that time I have also researched the life of Carole Lombard. I don't have a book out about the accident, but I do have a website that has profiled the accident at Lostflights.

Time, World War II, an increasingly reliance on alcohol and amphetamines, plenty of smoking, but especially Lombard's death all show on the outside of Gable in the films he made after the war. To really get the sense of the powerful hunk he was, the one that kept them in movie lines again and again, it's the 30s films when he was truly a happy man, and co-starring with Crawford, Harlow, Loy and Shearer. (Only one of Gable's pre-WWII films, the ill-considered "Parnell," ever lost money.) That's the fellow who set the mold for every male movie sex symbol to come.

Completely agree. I also think Parnell wouldn't have been such a flop of Joan Crawford hadn't backed out and had Myrna Loy filling her place. Gable had asked for Crawford to take the role and I have no doubt it would've have had more success, cos the chemistry between those two was always legendary.

Clark Gable had more talent as an actor than he gave himself credit for. He was hugely attractive to women and vice versa. But he was also a deeply flawed individual who cheated on all of his wives routinely. And even alcohol couldn't console him or let him forget what he did.

What was in the letter? Do you just mean because it was her final letter? I read she was worried about Lana Turner. According to book by I think Anita Loos, he was in bed with Lana when bad news came, partly why his guilt was so all consuming. Sorry if this breaks up the romantic mood here.

13 years later: No, he wasn't in bed with Lana Turner. He was preparing Carole's homecoming dinner at their Encino ranch house when the call came in that there was a problem with the plane.

Tho CG & CL's romance is famous. CG was an ironic dichotomy of romantic lover & serial cheater. Rose 2 top by providing stud serv. & marrying older women, cheated on almost every woman he was w/ (Just w/ Wife2: left her 4 CL AFTER he had illegitimate child w/ Loretta Young, tho W2 paid 4 his Hollywood debut). No doubt CG loved CL in his own way & grieved deeply over her death, but if CL hadn't died would he have ended up w/ Lana Turner? CL rushed home on a plane, not train b/c of that fear. Sad.
