Thank you sm Jeanette these are good to keep in mind for sure! This year has been crazy because its all video auditions - my big tip to everyone is put your variation at the beginning of the video because it will (hopefully) grab them in :)

Omg I can't even begin to imagine what that must be like! I've had ballet students--especially those trying to transition into professional life--on my mind so much since the beginning of the pandemic. It must be so challenging right now, but I wish you all the best and I think your tip sounds like a great idea! Thanks for watching. :-)

Hello! Very helpful video! Thank you. Do you have any advice for video auditions? x
@jeanettekakareka3 жыл бұрын
I'm glad it was helpful! I don't have experience in video auditioning as in during corona times, if that's what you mean. But I didn't manage to talk about the video that's required to be considered for company auditions, and I do have experience with that, so I was thinking this might be useful as a part 2! I think a lot of things will carry over for corona auditions. :-)

4th year adult ballet student here. One of my teachers is holding a open audition for a adult student only ensemble piece. Non of us are professional dancers. I have stage time as a musical theater actor and dancer in my local studio. We are between the ages of 19 to 50. What do I do.?

Hi Geoffrey! I hope I'm not too late! I didn't realize I'd logged out of my channel account. As adults who are also not professional dancers I would think of these key themes: - flexibility, of the mind! You may be asked to do some things you've never done before like improvisation or steps you don't like, but take it on with a positive attitude. - presentation, I would think carefully on how I want to present myself as an adult. You want to be comfortable while dancing, but also looking your best. As a guy, put effort into styling your hair and picking out a flattering shirt color. People who put in the effort straight from the start get noticed! - the rule of eating well and staying hydrated still apply!!! (To be honest, especially the older we get. 😅) Make sure you're eating well-rounded meals and you got enough sleep the night before. A physical and potentially "stressful" situation requires your body is running efficiently. I hope that helps!

Is it acceptable to wear pink tights over the leotard for company auditions/video auditions for professional companies?
@kailanidances_8 ай бұрын
its really just personal opinion but it looks more put together if there under especially for a audition
@jeanettekakareka5 ай бұрын
If you're already a professional dancer with experience and auditioning for a professional job, I would definitely ONLY wear the tights over the leotard. It otherwise marks dancers as "student-y" from any ballet company that I know of to wear tights under a leotard. 😊 Sorry for the late reply!

Thank you, very helpful to see an example!. My question is, would you separate summer programs from year round programs or put them all together from most to least recent?
@jeanettekakareka3 жыл бұрын
Oh that's a good question!! I didn't bother because I only did one other summer intensive that wasn't Rock or SFBS, which was PNB, but if you think it's relevant because you went to a good school in the summer or it shows variety of style, I would include it in a separate section. I might do SUMMER INTENSIVE TRAINING underneath a regular TRAINING section. Hope that helps 😊
