I am fully convinced that Faith No More's version is BETTER than The Commodores' original! -The fact that they, originally, released it on an E.P. called: Songs To Make Love To (featuring -an image of-: 2 rhinos, having intercourse, with the sunset behind them😛😛; as the cover). along with a cover of the Dead Kennedys' [sic] "Let's Lynch the Landlord" (and an original which: the record label's refusal to use umlauts in their printing of text, actually, altered the meaning of the song-title!!🤦🙄) ...is, all, somehow: "just perfect." 😜

What I love about Faith No More is that every album was completely different. A lot of that comes from singer Mike Patton who's one of the most versatile figures in music. Dude has like a dozen bands that are all unique. He's done everything from rock, rap, trip hop, pop, jazz, death metal and even an album of 1960's Italian love songs performed with a full orchestra. If you ever want a rabbit hole to go down, just start checking out his career.

Faith No More has always been a quirky rock band since their inception in the 80's... When (the late) Chuck Mosley was the singer, they made a very unique demo album 'We care a lot' back in 1985... Faith No More was signed to indie label Slash Records in 1986 and recorded their 2nd studio 'Introduce yourself'... which included a re-recorded version of the single - 'We care a lot'... and an odd rap rock track - "Anne's song". The band was: Jim Martin (guitar), Billy Gould (bass), Roddy Bottum (keyboards) and Mike 'Puffy' Bordin (drums)... w/ Chuck Mosley (vocals)... but there were problems from the start and alcoholism eventually got Mosley fired from Faith No More by 1988. Seeking a replacement, FNM finally decided to hire Mike Patton (vocals), whose band Mr. Bungle was another California rock band w/ quirky tunes and struggling at the time... In 1989, the band released 'The Real thing' w/ Patton on vocals (it was the only FNM record where he used a nasally voice)... it was a sonic triumph, but fans didn't get it initially... a mix of funk, punk rock, hard rock, old school rap and even prog rock. It wasn't until the 'Epic' single became a hit on MTV and propelled Faith No More to platinum sales in 1990. Faith No More were also very unpredictable - they recorded a cover of Black Sabbath's 'War pigs'... but also covered 'Easy' by The Commodores... "I started a joke" by The Bee Gees... Rather than go the funk rock route of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Primus... Faith No More released 'Angel Dust' in 1992 and it was a unique hard rock album once again w/ hits like 'Midlife crisis' ... 'A small victory' ... "Everything's ruined"... 'Be aggressive'. However, the musical direction was not guitarist Jim Martin's liking... he quit FNM in 1993. 1995 saw the release of the album 'King for a day...' and it was a raw and heavy record w/ guitars recorded by Trey Spruance of Mr. Bungle... Many felt that it was a Mike Patton solo album and it sold less, despite standout tracks - 'Evidence' ... 'Digging the grave' ... 'The gentle art of making enemies'. Faith No More released what is essentially their best album in 1997 w/ guitarist Jon Hudson titled 'Album of the year'... Exceptional tracks like - 'Last cup of sorrow' ... 'Stripsearch'... 'Ashes to ashes' ... 'Collision' ... 🔥🔥🤘🤘 Unfortunately, the public was weary of Faith No More and the album sold poorly... the band broke up in 1998. Faith No More did reform and record a new album 'Sol invictus' in 2015... Their comeback tour was welcomed all over the world.

A band ahead of their time. This album was a game changer for the late 80’s early 90’s. In that meandering time post hair-metal and pre-grunge. Faith No More has a lot of amazing music but this album was instrumental in altering popular music.

This is the band that first mixed rap with rock 😮 This song was so much faster when it was the new back in the early 90's😔 This is my favorite song by this band! except for the video where they cover "Easy", by The Commodores, that one was awesome too! oh yeah and they have another one called "we Care a lot" with their original lead singer 🤩

I love this band! This great song is an excellent choice for your reaction. Nothing more to add. Enjoy it, you guysl. Peace! ✌🏼Note: the fish imagery was a nod to their previous video, "Epic", which briefly featured a live goldfish (which belonged to singer, Bjork) flopping about. You have no idea how much grief these guys got for that.

Faith No More are called alternative metal. They mix alt rock with metal and other experimental sounds. Faith No More and Red Hot Chili Peppers where big influences on the Nu metal sound in the late 90s and early 00s with bands like Korn, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, System of A Down, Linkin Park and even the first Disturbed album.

Ugh…my teenage love for Mike Patton knew no bounds ❤😂…I remember going to see Mr. Bungle at the Metro in Chicago. Got right up in front of the stage, super excited to see MP. Little did my poor naïve self know he’d be wearing a mask the entire show and I’d soon be stuck in a mosh pit the likes of which I’d never seen. 🤣…ah, good times. Lmaoo
