I've seen them live twice in Southern Cal. They are fire. Extremely talented musicians. With Lovebites, Nemophila and Band-Naid they all have that touch of the old school metal/rock vibe, especially Lovebites, which attracts an older audience overall. All 3 groups are incredible and have rejuvenated metal and rock after decades of mediocre music.
@jawosammadennhier70628 ай бұрын
Nemophila is *extremely versatile* in terms of music genres. But not only do they change from a Rock song to a Punk Metal song quickly, but they change between genres *in a song* . Like here: Disco beats, Punk Metal, Power Metal. _In the same song._ Thy don't care, they just play what they like - and they _kill it_ . _Always._ An incredible band, outstanding, exeptional. As an aged Metalhead, I needed a whole album to trust them. ("Seize the fate", 2022.) Then I bought their first 2 ones, too ("Oiran"/2021 and "Revive"/2022) , and recently their current one ("Evolve"). And what can I say: *only masterpieces* . Too good to be true. Surreal. *Four consecutive studio albums full of masterpieces.* What a rare experience! Meanwhile, I trust them blind. "Nemophila" means excellence. And: They belong to *The New Standard Of Happy Metal* . "Thank you, ladies, I owe you a lot." 🐺💮DE

Hi Coach, Mrs Coach was indeed right, Nemophila is unique, in that it is one of the very few metal bands in Japan that specialize in the metalcore/groove/grunge metal genre, not to mention it is an all female group. The lead vocalist, Mayu, is known for being able to switch effortlessly between her singing voice and growlling, and killing it! Apart from its own work, the band has also covered a lot of famous songs from other Western rock bands in their studio live KZbin videos. Hope u enjoy!

In my opinion, the best way to experience Nemophila is to read their lyrics first (online), and then to *free your mind* , let any thinking of "genres" go, and *expect nothing* . Just let them come and play. Then the *intensity* of whetever-they-might-play will *hit* and embrace you. Nemophila are _always_ intense. Independ from the volume of their sound system. Their song "Life" is not loud, but emotionally _intense_ , and in terms of lyrics. And their song "Revive" is one of their intense songs to get you back to life, in case you experience a down: "Break the ceiling, let's kick you up a notch!" 😁 Watching Nemophila's music videos is _never_ a waste of time. Music without regrets. 😊

The video is live footage, but the audio is the studio version. They released this the same day as their 3rd album. I believe time constraints are why they don't have the actual concert audio. This song is # happymetal. The harsh vocals throughout their music are mostly English, the cleans are a mixture of English and Japanese. 7 string guitars and 5 string bass, and awesome drums. They are considered heavy metal, but like a lot of bands, will use elements of other genres. In 2019, lead singer Mayu was looking for a backing band for a live session. She called her former classmate ,bassist Hariguchi-san. They found Tamu Murata, an in demand session drummer. And guitarists Saki( ex-Mary's Blood) and Hazuki (ex- Disquala). They named the band after a flower because they are all female. A Nemophila is a 5 petal blue and white flower, primarily native to the American west. Music videos and live videos are both great. For more , try "Oiran", "Dissension", "Seize the Fate", "Revive", "Adabana", and "Reitei".

@@booradley4891 It is not obvious that screaming is your cup of tea. Personally I am not fond of most male growling. Also I am not fond of when the only singing in the song is screaming or growling. I like Nemophila and Hanabie screaming/growling. They do it in a melodic way and mix it with clean. Also Jinjer, even though I prefer the studio version of her screaming.

@booradley48918 ай бұрын
@@rolandkarlsson7072 Oh I do like screaming, particularly when it's in "context" as is the case generally in so many Nemophila songs. I'm not as big on it when it's every lyric in every song of a band's discography/playlist. I like variety. I also prefer female harsh vocals over male.
@garykeeling22758 ай бұрын
Nemophila tends a little more toward the nu-metal and metalcore side than a lot of the Japanese female bands (those are more the territory of Japan's male bands), but they also play some thrash, some pop metal, and even some hard rock, not to mention numerous covers of mostly 80s and 90s and some newer bands, including AC/DC, KISS, Motley Crue, Skid Row, Iron Maiden, Linkin Park, Nickelback, Pink, Bon Jovi, Journey, Maximum the Hormone, and BABYMETAL. This is one of the rare Nemophila songs that has a breakdown instead of guitar solos. But when they do play guitar leads, they have a two-guitar tandem in Saki (white tee shirt) and Hazuku (darker clothing) that is almost as epic a pair as Midori and Miyako from Lovebites! And since you liked Nemophila, I think you might like another of the more unique and crazy (in the funnest way possible) Japanese female band called Hanabie (pronounced "ha-na-be-eh").

The song is written for Floor and she opens up her whole bag of tricks here. In case you haven't noticed: The growls come from Floor. She uses them elsewhere too, but only punctually when the storytelling makes sense. She founded her second band ReVamp with a lot of anger in her stomach and there was more of it. After joining Nightwish, she wanted to be in both bands at the same time, but Nightwish killed ReVamp: ReVamp - Disdain Live at Graspop (2010) The currently most successful female growler is Alissa White-Gluz: ARCH ENEMY - Handshake With Hell (OFFICIAL SUMMER 2023 RECAP) The currently best extreme vocalist for me is Adrienne Cowen: Seven Spires "Architect of Creation" - Official Music Video

"What just happened?" Mayu happened. She has a great clean voice and also delivers the most epic metal screams. Most of their songs are a mix of both, some are all clean, melodic vocals and one is a full-on screamfest. Band-Maid and Lovebites are both quite reliable. You kind of have some idea what you're going to get, but with Nemophila, the most frequent comment from reactors (and sometimes fans) is "I wasn't expecting that." For clean, melodic Mayu voice, try 'Odyssey'. For Nemophila guitar shredding try 'Raitei'.

Amateras is the Japanese goddess of the Sun. These 5 ladies are just sunny Rock goddesses. 🤘🤘Mayu, the vocalist, has a wide register and can sail from gentle and soft to the harshest 'vocal fry' (what Tatiana of Jinjer unleashed on Pisces!). The rest of the band always provide multiple harmonies which work well. There's a beautiful Rock ballad in the classic 80's style called ODYSSEY that they just released which I think you'd both enjoy....and there's the in-yer-face (in a good way) grungy Metal sound of songs like REVIVE or RISE, which will be interesting to see how they split your opinions! ama-te-ras is sooooo goood! Nice vibing! It is a bit different, there are some Indian tabla drums and tones in it. Nemophila have both hard and softer stuff. This is medium raw. They have harder and softer stuff. Now, I have a suggestions. Take a look at their covers. They are mostly classic rock. And it is both western and Japanese rock band covers. I do not know your preferences, but maybe look at some Iron Maiden or Kiss covers. There will be next to none screaming in those covers, except for some Japanese covers. They have also done a beautiful song called Life. It is the softest they have done, absolutely no screaming. This song is a welcome song for the drummers second daughter. There is a studio live version where the band members are almost crying when playing. But, actually. Nemophila is a good group if you want top get accustomed to screaming. They are so nice girls and Mayo has a so good voice. The band is also unbelievable skilled musicians. The drummer Tamu is super well known in Japan and also the guitarist Saki is known. The guitarist Hazuki is also incredible skilled. And the bassist Haragichi-san is also very good. And, of course the singer Mayo has a so good voice and personality. This band isn't as popular as the likes of Band-Maid and Babymetal but in my opinion they deserve all the attention they can get, and you guys are helping with that. I hope you liked them enough and had a good enough response from viewers to try some more of their music. They generally would be considered metal but they have a wide range of songs so if Mrs Coach especially isn't a fan of the screaming vocals, maybe I can recommend a few songs: "Monsters" live for a high energy no screaming song, "Night Flight" live or MV for an 80s disco inspired song, "Fighter" another personal favourite to see them having fun in a live studio setting, again with no screaming vocals, or for a rock power ballad you have "Odyssey", their most recent ballad, "Life" which is very emotional in the video, or "Now I Here" also. And be sure to check out their playlist of covers, they have many including old classic rockers like Iron Maiden, Kiss, AC/DC, Motley Crue, as well as more modern rock and metal like Halestorm, In This Moment (both bands you should check out if you don't already know them), Linkin Park, and some less expected ones for their sound such as Foo Fighters and P!nk. They also have a Babymetal "Megitsune" cover as well because one of the guitarists, Saki, is a big fan and has all the merch! If you do fancy trying songs with more of the harsh vocals like in this song, I can recommend "Oiran" the most recent live video version for a very popular and typical Nemophila sound, "Anabana" MV, "Rise" live also. "Zen" is their only song with only harsh vocals. I'm not much of a metal fan, I usually steer towards hard rock more, but Babymetal opened my eyes to the possibilities and led me to Nemophila. The thing that caught my attention the most about this band is the positive energy and lyrics despite the often aggressive sound, and the uniqueness of Mayu's vocals, both harsh and clean. I fell in love with the rest soon afterwards. In terms of appearance (not that it matters at all, but it's interesting to note) Nemophila differs from the other Japanese all female rock/metal groups in that they don't have a "dress code" like Babymetal and Band-Maid do, and even Lovebites in that they usually wear the same colour, often white. Nemophila all dress casually and pretty much however they like which I think is cool, as much as I enjoy the aesthetics of the other groups. Sorry, long comment, but I hope I can enthuse you to return to Nemophila!

@@CoachCastTV Ive been a Kiss Fan since 1977. I lost interest in their career since around 2003. Gene Simmons just talking about money all the time plus it wasn't the Kiss I loved in the 70s and 80s. I saw them live seven times from 83 to 96. In 88 they didn't have much of the show, but they were on fire the two times I saw them then.

This nice funnny song about unbridled joy refers to a Shinto (Japanese unique religion) legend depicting the story of luring Amaterasu - the goddess of the sun - out of the Heavenly Rock Cave where she hid herself after quarrel with her brother Susanoo and thus prevented the whole world from seeing the sun. You can find this story in Wikipedia. And, by the way, if you be to Japan someday you can visit that cave where Amaterasu hid in Amano-iwato Shrine situated in the Takachiho area in Miyazaki Prefecture of Kyushu. 🙂

Their song Life is sort of like the bands theme or team song and gets very emotional for them. If you ever check it out have subtitles on because its lyrics are great.

They're metal, but they can't fit into any particular type of metal because they genre bend a lot and are excellent at it. They describe themselves as fluffy hell, because they are super sweet ladies with positive messages but badass music and vocals. Love Nemophila.

A lot of their songs are a bit screamy but they have ballads too believe it or not. The singer has a baby and the drummer has 2 babies. Zen is the most screamy infact it's all screamy. You might like Change the world as it's a toe tapper and fun. My favourite song is Rise. They are renowned for covers so there is a good chance that they have covered a group that you like. The parimore cover of the song Lovebites ( that's where Lovebites got their name from) is a favourite of mine as is Shimi a cover of a Japanese band called Maximum the Hormone. Rythem guitarist is also in another band Koiai ( actually not sure of the spelling) and they are not as heavy but very good and she and Lisa X have been collaborating for a while now despite LisaX having only just turned 18yo. Hope this helps. Have you done Rolling quartz? They are quite good they also do a Parimor cover Misery Business and I much prefer it to the original. I'm from Australia 🇦🇺.

Hey great reaction you two. Welcome to the world of Nemophila. One of the best bands in the world IMO and one of the best out of Japan. This is off their new and 3rd album that came out back in January. The band has been around since 2019. Mayu the lead singer has a great voice for rock and metal. Sweet but with a rasp then she unleashes those growls and banshee screams. Many of their songs she mixes them both in. they have many songs too that she does not scream in. The rest of the band Is Saki and Hazuki on Guitars and they are amazing shredders. You did not see it in this video but a number of their songs have great solos and dueling solos between them. Haraguchi-San the bass player is great player and so much fun to watch live. Then there is Murata Tamu the drummer and let me tell you she is one of the best drummers I have seen period! They are all very talented. The band age ranges from mid 20s to early 30s. But you are right a lot of the older crowd is drawn to them. Im in my 50s and while this band is so diverse playing all types of metal and rock they have many songs with old metal feel. Also they are just a really cool laid back band and always putting out great music. I got to see them in Dallas last year and it was great concert and very loud lol. You should check out more of their stuff and see their diversity. I recommend a song she does not scream in that is rocking like RAITEI. Which has great solos in it too. There is a live and a music video. Both are great. More songs I recommend would be Oiran Live. Their first original and show closer. Also try Adabana a killer song and one of their best. Some others songs too like Revive, Monsters, Hypnosis. They also do some rock ballads too like Odyssey, Life,Now I Here and Game Over. All their songs are very good and different too. You never know what style you will get from them. It is a safe bet most the time it will be rocking or heavy but even then they will surprise you. sorry for the rambling and hope you enjoy more of this band in the future.

The young lady singing is Mayu, she has at least a 100 different voices!! She also founded Nemphila, originally called Mayu's Session Band. She brought them together to help her meet some commitments. They enjoyed playing together and liked each other, SO they became Nemophila!! All came from other bands. The genre is Japanese Rock/Metal, AKA not necessarily any western genre. Japan has some of the best bands you have never heard in the 80's and 90's. Last year they successfully toured the US, in 2022 they played the Whiskey a Go Go. Nee-Mo-Fee-La is the Japanese pronunciation. The Japanese pronounces all the letters in a word. The English pronunciation is totally different. Not going suggest anything.

You ain’t heard nuthin’ yet, as this song does not include the face melting shredding of the twin-guitar attack comprising HAZUKI and SAKI. All five members played with other bands. Vocalist MAYU brought them together for a one-off concert some time before the pandemic. It worked so well they decided to make it a permanent thing. During the pandemic they posted dozens of cover song videos that highlight the breadth of their musical influences and skills. They skillfully used KZbin to achieve worldwide recognition. You are square in the middle of their demographic. Now they make their own music in a bewildering range of styles. Your next to songs should be: - The latest live performance video of OIRAN, their first original song, created during the pandemic, and their very heavy show closer - kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6Kkc6GceM2jmM0si=zByH1Kcxe8gHAMz_ - ODYSSEY (OMV), the best 80’s Metal power ballad you never heard - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGm1mZ2HpauZlbMsi=b0-RyK5bUfAMzuTd
