Yes , you are right. Working with pets is difficult because you can't show them your bad mood. For work with pets, it is very important to have great patience, a good mood and understand them! You can try to understand what exactly your pet does not like. For example, my client-dog doesn't like to blow dry your head. Once I turned on the cold air and he calmed down. Now, I only dry his head with cold air 🤗

Although I am a dog groomer and have 2 shih Tzu's myself, it's beautiful to watch your video's and finally see a groomer is giving the shih tzu the cut that belongs to the shih tzu. Sometimes the owners ask me to completely shave the shih tzu with a clipper. To rarely go to the salon ☹️. But I persuade them to cut their dogs not so short and it will be very beautiful. And when passerby on the street praise their dog’s haircut, owners again ask me to cut it this way 😊👍

I believe this is what is referred to as a "Puppy Cut" style for the breed, whereas the show style involves a longer length with a top knot that looks quite gorgeous as well (very hard to do). As many of you will test that are owners of one like me, They are great companion dogs. Mine was fiesty as well when it came time for a bath and a grooming session. One of the things I did was from the time he was a pup he received a lot of what I call grooming tool training. I would pet and massage him but I would also introduce the tools and get him used to those. for example, the clipper machine would be running but I would just rub the clippers to his body without cutting hair so he understood what it felt like and that it would not hurt him.I did the same with nail cutting from an early age. I loved the puppy cut because I didn't show him for starters and he seemed much more comfortable with it. and second because the hair they have knots up quite easy and they can look like little hobos quite quickly. I have seen a comment mentioned a Tasmanian devel mine was that dog if he went to the groomer. Although I did find one that was amazing with dogs and he did much better. I would avoid the chain places that due to cuts such as PetSmart and find a more personalized private grooming place but that is me. Hope these tips help you all for those seeking some tips.

I can't imagine my Shih Tzu having the super long show cut. She would be miserable. These dogs don't do well if they get too hot. Even when my Arabella starts getting a little bit shaggy I can tell it makes her unhappy. After a nice short haircut she has a lot more pep in her step and is so happy and cool and loves to run around. The upkeep on the long hair looks like a nightmare. My dog has pretty wavy hair that mats so easily once it gets even a couple of inches long. I can't imagine the knots and tangles that long hair would get. It's beautiful, but gosh what a nightmare it must be to deal with it. For both the humans and the dogs.

I take a little more time for a haircut if the dog is very active. I have a shih tzu who is afraid to stand on the table on haircut. This pup is well behaved and doesn't move at all. Mind move all over and want to get down , jumping around , trying to bite me if I touch their face at times. So it takes me so long to wash them and groom them. I did learn some helpful tips though. Thanks for that. I'll keep trying to make them look this cute. But to me they are cute no matter what. Would be awesome if they sat this still though.

Pet owners or their parents see this vídeo and send the dog to the Pet Shop thinking that it behavior will be the same of the vídeo model. However, 90% of pets NEVER stays as this. Great part of them of them are liltle "Tasmanian Devil" when they see the grooming machine, scissors or any other equipment. :) lol

I agree with you! I see dogs with different characters in my petsalon. If dog never stop you can't make good haircut. But everyone needs a different approach. I have aggressive dogs. They bite the owners and their children at home. But they are different in zoosalon. One dog hates a comb. When I put it on my knees and began to stroke it, I was able to comb it. Sometimes you just need to silently make a haircut. Then the dog becomes puzzled: Why am I not arguing with her? Why am I not fighting her? I don’t have to argue with her. I want to show her that I have to do a haircut and wash her. And I won’t harm her. Sometimes it takes six months. But when the dog trusted me, I am happy

I agree, mine was moving every time and hid his paws under his body, impossible to touch them.. Kept moving from side to side. I have always done what I could myself. Unfortunately, she just died on the vet's operating table. We are cruelly sad, she was 10 years old, it is much too early.
