The Rascals recorded some of the most beautiful songs ever. This song, of course, along with "Groovin" and "How Can I Be Sure", (recorded in waltz time) are all essential songs to listen to.

Mike Valenza is right, in my meaningless opinion. Their greatest hits album, was 12 actual hits! "How can I be sure" is lovely and features a French Accordian. They also do a nice cover of "Mustang Sally", and delve into rock with "You Better Run", covered by Pat Benater.

The Rascals were one of those bands that when they hit, it went over the fence. How Can I Be Sure is one of my all time faves. In a lot of ways it's odd, not least because of it's use of accordion that sounds like something you'd hear from a busker on the streets of Paris. They were terrific.

This song almost sounds "stripped down" to an extent. It came out in 1968 and who knows what sort of recording process was used. It's basically a "feel good" song. The band broke up a few years later for various reasons. They had a few hits besides this one including " Good Lovin' " which got a ton of air play.

I like Alex's perspective -- I think you heard its essence the way many of us did. In 1968, most of us were exposed to only the radio version of this great song -- and that listening was on a cheap mono hi-fi, transistor radio, or car speaker. So we wouldn't have noticed a difference in production quality had there been any. An *easy A+.* 📻

"East Coast Blue-eyed Soul" is what they were exactly, very R&B influenced. "Good Loving" is their R&B cover, during the British Invasion, a stone R&R classic that EVERY local band played. "People Gotta Be Free" is an anthemic upbeat 60's "message song". Their drummer Dino died a few months ago & was one of the first great r&r drummers, Bonham named him as an influence - see live Ed Sullivan on YT for his big beat.

My only complaint is the song needs to be longer. Great chill out vibes.

Great band with Felix Cavilari on lead vocals and keys. The started making hits as The Young Rascals... then they got a few years older and became The Rascals (although Felix kept wearing the cap). .

What an awesome song. They definitely need to be recognized more. They have some good grooves. Thanks for giving them some props.

Around 1978, (I was 29ish) this was on the car radio as I pulled into the driveway. Just sat there and enjoyed this song. Made me smile

good lovin is a nice hyper song by, i believe they were called the young rascals at the time of that recording. if you want to get a group hyped up for a run, to clean the car or get a room painted - without killing each other, this is the song. just a great song to give a good feeling with a killer organ.

The Rascals have a bunch of great songs. Next one you should hit is Good Lovin’. SUCH a groovy danceable banger. And of course Groovin’ is great too (though it feels SUPER similar to beautiful morning. They make a great double feature of chill spring/summer songs to listen to in the morning).

I was 9 when this song came out. I've loved it ever since. Once I retired, I decided to put it as my first song on my exercise playlist. Wonderful way to start the day!!

Felix Cavaliere, Eddie Brigati et al. Great stuff. Incredible harmonies. Well produced and written. How Can I be Sure is highly recommended.

Their drummer, the recently departed Dino Danelli was a fantastic musician. He gave the band a jazzy swing.

Every time I hear this song it takes me back to the summer of 1968. Great group, wonderful arrangement. Dino Danelli was an early influence on me as a drummer. He had a great pocket and was very much a showman too.

Saw Felix at a great venue about a year ago, and it was great. The Rascals were before my time, but his stories and the music were amazing!

Loved the Rascals! Still do. Still makes me feel good hearing this number. I wouldn’t want it recorded any other way. Even a lifter 50 years. Love love love

I read that a third-grade teacher played this song every morning come rain come shine. Talk about putting a smile on your face. It was a student from her class that posted the statement.

Another great hit from The Rascals is Good Lovin' (apostrophe) and also a good springtime song... (oh btw, Billy Preston also played with the Beatles on the rooftop)

In '68 hit AM radio music was transmitted and heard mostly through one speaker - kitchen radio, car, portable transistor radios (there's a mindf*** for the youngsters - they looked like a fat IPhone and had a dial where the screen should be).
