[ENG, KR AUTO SUB] After trying out Yousician and Yousician Premium+, I decided I'd try out some other apps.
So these are my thoughts on the Simply Guitar learning app! Not sponsored btw.

Music apps can be great if they keep you interested in playing, but if you’re serious about improving as much as possible I would really recommend that people just teach themselves on KZbin or, if possible, get a teacher. I’ve been playing for close to 11-12 years now and I’ve had friends trying to learn through these sorts of apps, but they only take you so far. When I told them to just teach themselves all the basic chords, positions/posture and just play basic songs/melodies of songs they like off of KZbin I could easily see them progressing 10 times faster. I was taught by a teacher for the first year or so before opting to just teach myself as I began to get motivated to play instead of it being like work, allowing me to learn much faster. It can be daunting to start an instrument because it’s really hard to know where to start, so here’s my best advice if you’re starting out: Learn the basic chords (c, a, d, g, e + am & em), learn some basic songs in your skill range (chord ones as well as basic melody ones) and then just slowly ramp up the difficulty by playing songs a little bit out of your current skill level, brute forcing your way through them until you can play them. Eventually this will get you into songs requiring bar chords, playing chords and melodies at the same time (finger-style), picking patterns, hammer ons, pull offs, sliding, theory (if you’re interested), different genres with more techniques (classical, jazz, rumba) and so on. Just play songs that you like and stay motivated, making sure you’re pushing yourself with every song you learn.

Cheers Pepperoni! Great comment 🤙 I totally agree, the best thing most apps do is possibly keep you interested. These days I use Justin Guitar which is far superior to others I’ve used, as I can’t get a teacher where I live ☺️🤙 merry Christmas to ya, awesome work

I’ve started learning guitar by using the app and Idk where I should start or what to do. I really want to be able to play the guitar and so I’m super motivated it’s just the fact that I’m not sure where to look. Is there any other apps or anything that anyone recommends because I don’t think paying that much for the one I am is worth it.

It's really brave of you to share this in front of potentially millions of people as you are going through the learning process. Who knows those who laugh at your performance now might buy tickets at your huge concert years from now! Everyone had to start somewhere but most of us musicians learned it from behind closed doors because we were not brave enough to show our mistakes.

Man just keep going, I'm learning too and I've been playing about 6 months. Justinguitar has a beginners course on KZbin that's absolutely wonderful. I've just been going over the first 15 or so episodes until I can get sufficiently good with the three chords and changing between them. The most difficult thing for me is keeping my hand placement and posture correct, my thumb always wants to go around the guitar neck instead of on the back. Anyways, good luck. It's great to see someone else who isn't very good yet but is trying. It's honestly inspiring.

A good KZbin channel for song tutorials is guitar zero to hero. His tab layout is beautiful and he has a second channel where he goes in depth on how to play the song. Some of the tutorials are probably on the tougher side though, especially for a beginner like yourself. I’d still check him out though.

When I first started back in March, I had used this app to first start as well, however! I’m telling you you should get a guitar teacher or just teach yourself WITHOUT an app. It’s been 7 months since I’ve started and the progress of teaching yourself is much more enjoyable and it is also quicker. MY TIP: Try to memorise where to put your fingers for chord into the finest details. That’s how you’ll actually learn how to play a song without any intervals

Totally agree with other comments about the benefits of lessons vs. music playing apps. Find a structured course on youtube with tutorial videos and suggested practice routine. Follow the videos in the intended order, and keep practicing consistently (almost) every day and the results will speak for themselves. Try not to have negative thoughts, everyone sucks at first, but with regular practice you improve a little bit each day. Also don't compare yourself to others! Enjoy the journey, your journey. That said, song apps are a good way to practice songs. I tried for about 6 weeks or so of my learning journey just scrounging around online for chords or tabs, or in some cases attempting to transcribe or watching song tutorials, and it was a slow, inconsistent, and frustrating experience. Once I started using a song app to complement my practice routine it really helped me with fluidity and timing, plus saved a bunch of time researching.

Been playing music since i was 6 years old(24 now) - just wanna say that its exciting to see the actual improvement, coming from scratch and eventually learning to play, since not many have the patience to actually film, edit and actually LEARNING the darn thing! Of course, as you mentioned yourself, your technique needs improvement, but i find it fascinating that you learned to play via a phone app. The concept of learning real skills through apps, is something i have been sceptic of, but today i learned not to be. Hope you continue, and you have given me and idea for a video as well! Speedrunning simply guitar it. I can set the record, and you can beat it, once you have improved even more! Just for fun of course. You earned yourself a new sub. Have a nice day

HI mate progressing very well! The only thing I would suggest from my personal experience or how I play is that when you are picking individual notes, try to pick down with the strings as opposed to outwards, and try to move your hand as opposed to your whole arm when picking individual notes. strumming is different you move your whole hand but yeah, gives you better control and minimises unnecessary movement. and also i'm not sure if it feels comfortable for you but with my picking hand I play with my middle ring and pinky finger outwards so you are basically making this hand 👌🏼. anyway dude awesome as keep it up!🤘🏼

@@dan.prosser I still prefer hands on lessons, it was great to try out just to read tab and all. Thing is I am a person with nerve damage in my hands, so this is more theraputic for me to preserve what I have left along with piano. I can tell you I took traditional lessons from 2003 until early 2018 for piano, and my church... we have a lot of people who play guitar, so no shortage of teachers. And my god-grandparents they both play guitar.

Bonus problem 3) it’s quite expensive and still not developed . (There are just basic couple Of lessons ) Hh, I see I already commented on this , thoug so ...
