This is what I said: You see the model was developed in 1973 and the first widely used mathematical method to calculate the theoretical value of an option contract, using current stock prices, expected dividends, the option's strike price, expected interest rates, time to expiration, and expected volatility. Black-Scholes says that instruments, such as stock shares or futures contracts, will have a lognormal distribution of prices following a random walk with constant drift and volatility. Using this assumption and factoring in other important variables, the equation derives the price of a European-style call option. The Black-Scholes equation requires five variables. These inputs are volatility, the price of the underlying asset, the strike price of the option, the time until expiration of the option, and the risk-free interest rate. :)

@shankarnath Жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yeah, I heard of it too & found the 9:1 odds very interesting. The average person (part of the 90%) seems to have lost 1.1 lakhs .. which is another way of saying the average person who learnt & profited from F&O made 9.9 lakhs.

That's an interesting perspective. You would never know was it learning or just sheer luck. Anyways good job and keep going.

@11:24 : In the given example, Nestle doesn't "save itself" of 25 lakhs whenever the price falls. In fact, when the price falls, they lose an additional 5 lakh (paid as margin). Nestle stands to gain only when the price rises. And n the case of the seller, it benefits them whenever the price falls, as at least they et to keep the margin collected from buyers like Nestle. However, when the price rises, the seller loses an additional profit of 45 lakhs. In Summary : BUYER GAINS WHEN PRICE RISES SELER GAINS WHEN PRICE IS SAME OR FALLS

Good introduction. Felt slightly rushed on the options part, especially the contrast with the futures was not explicity brought up. Since I already had some basic understanding of this topic, it was not a problem for me. Looking forward to deeper dives as I do want to dabble in Option trading sometime in the future.
