Omg thank you! I’ve been trying to learn to see for a year now on and off and I was wondering how all of the sewing youtubers get their lines so straight and mine are always so wobbly! Now I know, it was so easy all this time, but no one ever mentioned it, until you did and I’m so thankful for this tutorial you did!

This was great. I am trying so hard to learn to sew at 66 and could not figure out why nothing I cut was straight. I thought maybe my scissors were too big.

A Frixion pen is excellent for marking - I bought felt tipped pens by mistake - they work just as well and in the same way. The pens look different: white shaft with appropriate colour top. Thanks for all your brilliant tips!

I wondered if the felt versions worked or not I suspect they are much easier than the roller balls.

Hi, thank you for the tip. I had a sewing class yesterday where I pinned my pattern to my fabric and had to cut around it. Let’s just say it was not easy. I kept getting jagged lines and kept pricking myself on the pins. It was not a nice experience!

Frixion pens - felt tips and roller ball - I try to limit the marks to the seam allowance or what will end up inside just to be safe.

Hi please can u show how to cut fabric for a top for example, when there is no selvedge, how can u find the straight grain of woven or Jerseys that dont have any selvedge, like on a scrap piece, thanks x
@BeautifulThingscraftandsewing
@BeautifulThingscraftandsewing 5 жыл бұрын
with a woven fabric you can pull at the threads to see the warp and weft to work out where the straight of grain is. As for stretch fabrics it will depend whether it is a 2 way or a 4 way stretch in relation to the pattern if there is one. Simply stretch and see!

good advice but...there is always one person who has a but right...I am right handed and yet I am left eyed ..... in-fact I am legally blind in my right eye so I have gotten very good at cutting my fabric and patterns out as well as holding things in place, all the while looking at the left side of the scissors..... now it is my normal...Like I said always one in the crowd right. But good info...thank you.
