A Beginners guide to the Arch Glacor | Runescape

Welcome to a guide to the brand new boss, being the Arch-Glacor. This guide is mainly focused on Hardmode (0-500% enrage) but can be used to learn the mechanics in normal mode as well, as I mention the differences. It's worth noting that the upgraded shadow pontifex ring must be worn for the 10% increased effectiveness. It's no longer a passive effect (apparently that was a bug)
This guide is slightly different compared to my usual bossing guides, as I didn't want to waste time on the gear setup section, as boss setups for this boss will vary a crazy amount. Just use the best gear and dps familiar you have access to. If you need more food, use a bob familiar.

[Spoilers BTW] Well, if we're talking canon, we've got the Bik Front and the Ful Front left. Bik Front would probably have us against the Tzar thingy's since we see at the end of Battle of the Monolith, we see that the Tzar have basically deemed us unworthy of living and that they need to start all over again (also what the Great Revision is, the reason that this is happening) Ful Front is up in the air, I'm not sure what Ful is associated with so that'll definitely be a surprise. And then there won't be a Mah Front cause she be dead.

Bik is the goddess of earth and has nothing to do with the Tokhaar (and thus the Tzaar, as they are Tokhaar with individuality if memory serves me). Either way, if we do get a Tokhaar/Tzaar boss, I’m all for it. Give me some pretty T95 black and purple weaponry!

Hey Protoxx a couple little things I find helpful during the fight are you can heal back to almost full health during the mist mechanic by using soul split and rapid fire on the arms. I generally use rapid fire and it clears the arms most times and if not I follow it up with a dbow spec. Also rapid fire or bombardment on the minions tends to clear them pretty quick too with chins. And you can spot whether the middle of the platform mechanic will be the arms or the cannon by noticing if there’s a slight delay on the mechanic after the ice creeps out all the way. If there’s a small delay it’s always the cannon where as arms fall down pretty much instantly

In flurry attack its worth noting that range attacks are preceded by little ice crystals near your feet. Besides the green, it's another way to know it's coming.

This boss in normal mode is actually really easy. I jumped in with no guide and got decent 8min kill without even watching a guide. Making sure to resonance the frost cannon in normal mode is the most important part of the fight and it'll actually help you stay longer and save food.

One minor corrections pertaining to positioning/tell of cannon For the middle positioning 6:01, when you mention the limited space, it's the same as him trigger arms however, if he were to use arms, he'd start the animation before the ice fully forms and face towards the bridge perfectly straight whereas with the cannon, not only would the ice fully form, he'd do an additional auto attack after the ice fully forms followed by a brief pause. Used this as a tell to anticipate + devote or get a barricade up before getting blasted.

@@wiseoldowl1628 Cannon Attack on hardmode hits 3 times meaning you can't resonance it like you're supposed to in normal. You either use devotion and pray magic to reduce the several 9000+ dmg hits to 1 dmg per hit or barricade to reduce it to 0 for 10s. Either one you pick though, you anticipate or freedom since the cannon also stuns on hardmode.

Some tips for determining cannon vs frozen core Cannon: the glacor will keep attacking consistently after the creeping ice reaches the center. Frozen core: the glacor’s attacks kinda pause, and if you watch closely its model will start rotating to face the center of the arena Also for b2b cannons, if you don’t have devotion up, use debilitate and sip a power burst, the cannon will only deal 6k damage but the power burst accounts for doing debilitate too early

I have been using various set ups to combat this guy. My fastest time was done using melee where I took my best armor and weapons. Augmented with decent perks, custom fit masterwork armor, augmented masterwork spear with over loads and super prayer. A few dreadnips to. I am a combat noob and when I see people saying a three minute run per kill I have to frown on that. My fastest time is just under five minutes. I have used range and mage, both over seven minutes. My plan now is to scale the armor back to ports armor, then lower. But the rewards on five mode, normal runs is fantastic. Last week I received two books of Wen. Sold both as I alredy had one from a few months go. But this is a good guide for beginners. It will get you started and let you decide your path to riches.

If you want to know if a Middle is going to be a Frost Cannon or Exposed Core, watch the Boss. Exposed Core will stop attacking and slowly turn towards the middle. Frost Cannon will continue to attack with Basic attacks until the Cannon animation.

the pillars can be avoided everytime by circling the right side edge of platform, then waiting for the three pillars to circle you beforre surging to the far side. then wait a moment then run to boss side, by that time they disapear. hard to explain here. im mele with a 47 killstreak atm =)

I'm having trouble with the frost cannon on hard mode. I find myself not always having enough adrenaline to use devotion. Is the issue that I'm in revolution and need to go manual? Ive never used manual but with revolution on I don't always have the 50% adrenaline needed for the abilities and I end up dying. Any advice?

Use Revo and not Revo++ that will help alot already, try pressing your buttons manualy with revo as backup so you can smoothly transition into full manual

just make sure u use death swiftness once ur for sure that its possible, try to only use normal abilties on revolution and keybind your thresholds and make sure they wont get auto-used. youll build up your adren quickly and once the arms start just use your thresholds (for range thats snapshot/rapid fire/tendrils). then once cannon comes ur for sure having more then 50% adren, also try to unlock adren potions or guthix rest, so if u fuck up and have about 20% adren left, u can quickly get more adren, also only use death swiftness if the cooldown of an adrenaline pot is not currently active. i started pvm a month ago after i had maxxed, i used revo always and this boss had me inprove a lot cuz its just not doable without manual (at least thresholds)

For the people who are having trouble with the mechanics:- If it's the pillars, it'll always start from the left and a quarter way to the middle, if you don't see any ice coming from the right, it's the pillars. For the frozen core, the arch glacor will almost immediately drop it's arms around you as soon as the ice is on both sides. Whereas in case of the frost cannon, there will be a pause before the arch glacor activates the cannon. The cannon will also happen on the left and right side of the platform as shown in the video but that's easy to identify since that's the only mechanic used if you're covered with ice on both sides when you're on the left or right side.

If they are not affected by enrage then wouldn't it be wise to just kill him at 0% over and over until you get a core in hard mode? Really trying to strategize how I go about this. If loot is affected by enrage, what should my streaks look like?

Its not clear yet until jagex releases drop rates. Ur better off doing some streaks anyway 0-249, 0-500 (or higher if ur good) to get more nilas, remnants and more common loot in case you go dry

G staff spec , asphyxiate , and wild magic usually work. Mage is not enough dps in general. In NM I can't kill him before his defenses are bolstered.

Have you ever encounterd when his defence gets bolstered? Usually happens below 100k hp and you deal no dmg, atleast in normal mode. It's just annoying and i don't know how to counter it.

@@gustafullervik it's to ensure you get every mechanic at least once so your dps is good in normal mode. For the arms in hard mode just save a damage increasing ultimate like DS or sunshine. You'll get to use the rest of it after you beat the arms

For the Flurry, I would suggest angling your camera a bit lower so you can always see the tips of the arm-spear-things. The ranged and magic attacks both use the same animations -- the low arm animation and the high arm animation, both left and right variations. Basically, the only way to be sure which style of attack is coming is to see the green or blue mist; the boss's animations alone can be deceiving.

Ranged attacks also are preceded with little ice things appearing around your feet. That's how I spot the difference between mage and range easily.

I'm curious to see where the T85s even out considering they are needed for the T95 version, so I'm wondering if people will just wind up buying the lower teir just to upgrade it and not waste the Nilas/Shards, which would probably keep the price of the 85s still relatively good. Who knows tbo

In my opinion just use your best style. I'm doing melee and making very good progress. The dps I lose on pillars I almost make up for by barge bleeding assault after I dodge the first pillar.

Dont hate my melee sitting at 2k already doing only melee, only mechanic that forces you out of md is pillars. And the pillars is long enough to force a greater barge into the ice queen and bleed some ice

Currently struggling with hard mode but can kill normal with 5 mechanics and no food

What's getting you killed? Is it the dps part (arms/frozen core?)

@@ProtoxxGaming personally, that's my only issue. I don't have trouble anywhere else. This is even on 5% enrage. Have yet to get a HM kill. Full Sirenic, Nox bow (Can't afford asc atm), max cape, souls, scrim of cruelty, fleet boots, asc grips

Wish content dudes would make like..t75 guides. Most people I know are around t75 and iron trying to do hard mode.

This is the guide for that. If you have worse gear than him then it will just take longer. The boss is a pushover at low enrages hard mode and could easily be done with dragon equipment

at lvl. 75 you shouldnt go bossing and waste ýour time. you should go to abyss or elite dungeon to get to 90+.

I just can't get enough DPS even with better gear than in this video and maxed combat stats, curses, and supreme overloads. I die everytime between his arms and the arm still has 10k health left.

I don't know if it's only me but more than 16 years of Runescape I didn't kill a BOSS alone. I find it extremelly unaccurate, laggy and hard to kill bosses in this game. Maybe I'm not good at PvM, who knows : / Good work, Futima(Protoxx).

Every person has their starting point. This would be an extremely good boss to start learning. I did a legacy kill with just my nox staff and got like a 28 second kill by clicking on him once in normal mode with 0 mechanics
