Have you ever been frustrated in your attempts to get that textbook perfect Russian tie up with the straight arm control? Yeah, me too. So I consulted some actual Russians about how to make this technique work better, and since then, this variation has become an integral part of my grappling game.

Taking groin strikes, while being on the attacking side, hence aggressive and adrenalined blood, are less effective. It pains, immediately and afterwards, but it's not incapacitating, I vouch for that. It will stop you though, if you've got a groin defense cap, and a part of your business escapes, making the strike focus on a very small area, while the thigh acts as the anvil against the hammering object.

@PortMourant2008 I thought the same, I like the fact that is a quite unique grappling style, is more centred in things like tripping, timing, pushing, pulling and make your opponent lose his balance, it actually use that whole concept of ''using your opponent strength against them''. Also I realize that this style is not really popular at all, so the talent pool is pretty small, I hope this start gaining more popularity, just imagine what kind of things we could see if this were more popular.

The grip you were first saying you were using and didn't work was because you learned to control the arm by it being straight and it works best the arm bent. Having the hands as you first were is the standard way of hold the arm but making it bent using those grips. Keeping your chest behind their shoulder will help maintain position alot and turning to center alone won't work, they will have to rely on other counters. Now, crossing or weaving personally I always liked better when available, and I find it really awesome you learned all of this by just working it out shows alot of mental skill on your part, great job. On the single leg, try using your outside leg to hook and pick up the leg to you first as you attack the leg from two on one, this tends to be a higher percentage entry

This only works because Kevin is not ready to fight on the streets! You can see that clearly because at 0:34 he does not backflip up. Clearly he lacks the leg muscles and cat-like agility required in a real world, street fight for your life. And if Kevin is not real, this whole thing ain't real. PS: Bit low on the volume today D=. And pardon the Triple X reference... the first one was a fun dumb action movie =x

I love this version of the two on one. in my opinion its the most control and very hard to break but so easy to get. i was showed this by a purple belt and he used it to do a snap down/shuck down. Painful for the other person too. I also like the key lock version of the two on one.

I really like the way you reinforce the "grabbing" hand with your fist. Never occurred to me that would be an option, will be testing it out ASAP! I've been playing with this tie for a while now, but instead of making a palm-down fist, I grab my wrist. The big problem I run into is it can put a lot of tension on my wrist if I'm grabbing my wrist palm facing up, and can only be avoided by keeping the tie very close to the body (their fist approximately touching right under their peck muscle). The advantage to having the tie this tight, is that you can throw them with minimal effort - simply face them, sit on your butt, and elevate with the legs. This guy makes it look really pretty, but it doesn't require that much athleticism to pull off. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6WuqKiFqLt5idE

Hey got a question. What you recommend for a marital artist that has scoliosis? I ask as I have a miner form of it and I've noticed that it affects my moves. With one leg being longer than the other my kicks always seeming like their missing, wrong placement, and on the stronger side jamming sometimes.

If you’re precariously balanced on one leg while a wrestler has a high crotch on you with his head framed into your neck from a sideways position, and you’re trying to punch at him instead of trying to improve your position, you’re going on a one way trip to the floor the hard way in about half a second. You have zero leverage to throw any strikes that will inflict damage from there.

@@RamseyDewey I've seen schools in china that promote teachings of Shaolin kung fu, Sanda, and other forms of Chinese martial arts. An example of this would be the Qufu Shaolin Kung Fu School or, the Middle Kingdom Traditional Kung Fu School. They provide accommodations such as a place to sleep, food 3 times a day 7 days a week...etc, this all being at a set price either per month or year of stay. My question is, do you believe these schools to be a more of a touristy "martial arts" type of training, or would these schools be considered legitimate in your opinion?

What prevents the opponent to punch your head with the free hand when you caught his leg at the end of the combo?
@RamseyDewey
@RamseyDewey 5 жыл бұрын
Pressure. Once you catch the leg, your opponent should be on his way down to get punched with the planet. Besides, one leg panic rabbit punches to your forehead aren’t going to kill you if he gets one off before you take him down. Suck it up and pay him back a hundred fold with strikes that actually damage when you pin on the floor.

Ok ramsey so let's say you happen to lock there arm in but what if they starr moving toward you pushing you toward a wall or let say they they put there leg in front of your leading leg and trip you and than start taking you to the ground would you still be able to keep them in the hold or will you be forced to release the hold as they could either make it in your guard or full mount you or side mount you. What I'm saying is what would be a great way to counter if they start pushing you or try tripping you while you have them in the hold.
@RamseyDewey
@RamseyDewey 5 жыл бұрын
Make a frame with your head, just like I showed you, and that won’t be an issue. Also, think of the Russian tie up as a transition from point A to point B, not a hold.

If they push into you then you can snap them down with their arm, it also sets up a lateral drop, snatch single, and arm spin. If you arm drag when they come into you they will look to take your back so you can anticipate that and turn it into an arm throw or seoi otoshi. The trip you mentioned would end up throwing themselves if they timed that with an arm spin, and even with a failed arm spin it leads straight to a back take for you or a hi c/single leg opportunity. Really them going into you is what you want and you want to create pressure into them so they will come into you
