You still hyped about this deck or have new commanders come out since that are more powerful? I have been out of the cEDH scene for about half a year and need to know if this is worth building. This deck appears to have better card draw potential than my current white decks. I am a fan of mono-white as well!
@LocalGameGroup4 жыл бұрын
I love Teshar. I play two mono-white lists, both Balan & Teshar. For a Combo Deck, nothing beats Teshar’s adaptability, speed and redundancy so far as executing on the Combo is concerned. However, I gravitate more towards Balan these days as my group doesn’t run much Stax and I enjoy providing the variance. Of the two, I can still highly recommend Teshar. If you want to stifle Opponent’s and thrash them with Artifacts, there’s nothing better.

I find funny that in Outlaws of Thunder Junction there is a pixie printed, that is strictly better in almost any situation as it can return any permanent that is not a land or pixie, not just artifact, and it can opt not to return anything, in wich case it is only 1/1 with flying, but still Hawk costs 1-2 dollars and pixie is almost free.

I have been running Teshar for some time now and I've found that Abolish is a power card. Seems like most people combo out using an enchantment or an artifact and while I am only running 26 land sometimes it is worth it for that Abolish to stop someone else from comboing out. I've stopped people many times as no one expects the white player to do anything being tapped down. Strongly encouraged to find a place in the 99 for Abolish, I even think its much stronger than disenchant.
@LocalGameGroup5 жыл бұрын
With a *Plains* in Hand, certainly. We only run ten... Rarely is there a moment when *Abolish* was Castable for it's alternative Cost (from all my testing). I tried it early on. The real trick here: leave mana open. We're not pushing for Turn 2 wins, though we can in some freak scenarios. I play a much slower game, halting my Opponent's and building my Graveyard/Board State for an inevitable win. I rarely ever tap out with Teshar, so Disenchant is just fine for all scenarios.
@swordmanjosh5 жыл бұрын
@@LocalGameGroup The only time I've tapped out with Teshar is if I tried to combo off and was stopped. I run more basics than you do and not as cEDH heavy as I don't have the mana vault, Basalt Monalith, or Mox Opal. I can combo off as soon as turn 3 but typically its turn 4-6 with halting my opponents as well. Sounds like I do run about 8 more basics than you which makes all the difference in regards to Abolish. Thanks for the reply and the thoughts.

Our teshar lists are nearly identical. I only disagree with your opinion of the aetherflux reservoir. I know you dont want teshar to be a storm deck, but at the end of the day, he is a storm deck lol. The whole purpose of the deck is to create graveyard loops off of cast triggers. Aetherflux is an auto include for me. Basalt monolith and orb are cute but I would cut them and include auriok Salvagers as well since you're already running LED and the LED casts bring back creatures from the grave. Great content, keep it up.
@LocalGameGroup5 жыл бұрын
Auriok is an over cost, one-off combo with LED... Why would you run this? He’s non-tutorable, non-recurrable and is 4 mana to hard cast. With Teshar out, Salvage Scout & Restoration Specialist act in the same fashion and are stronger options for Teshar. This list wins in a variety of ways: *Aetherflux* is entirely win more, no matter how you dice it. We’re not just spinning the wheels, we’re grinding them. As I said, Basalt is a flex spot, but not for either of those. I’d rather have a bank that can be utilized by a sac outlet for value and infinitely mill my Deck, in either scenario. If you’re looping a Creature in and out of your Grave, you already (likely) have the win. Cards I would consider: Scrabbling Claws, Mana Tithe, Jeweled Amulet (if we need additional ramp) & Sensei’s Top for that Basalt spot. Thank you for watching! Link that list so I can see it. -Patrick

@@LocalGameGroup tappedout.net/mtg-decks/teshar-storm-3/?cb=1559250920 Here is my current list. It is bad feels when Salvagers goes to the bin, I'm not going to lie. But I generally dont have an issue with it. Aetherflux is a win more, I do agree. But in my opinion, it belongs here. Simply too good not to use. Mesmeric orb is something I'd like to try though, its essentially free draw (since the graveyard is an extension of our hand anyway). Here is the list that inspired me to build mine in the first place. It is, in my opinion, the best teshar list out there. tappedout.net/mtg-decks/primer-teshar-kci-competitive/. I'm glad to see others pushing for teshar in cEDH. My primary cEDH deck is Shimmer Zur and I've yet to find a teshar list that feels on that level. I look forward to seeing what you can do with him. Hopefully you can push him over the edge.
@LocalGameGroup5 жыл бұрын
It’s funny, me and Alex were planning on discussing his *Shimmer Zur* list next! All I can say, after a quick glance... We have another *Basalt Monolith* user. 😏 Hahaha, I’m going to give your list a look over momentarily. Teshar has *insane* potential and I’ll be building upon this list with each subsequent set release. I will state, Zur is a tier one list. Teshar, piloted well, is up there; but a tough list to compete with due to all the moving parts. Sadly, no one thing will push him over the edge. Teshar is one of those Commanders that relies thoroughly on the strength of every card in the Deck. Can only get better with more redundancies 🤷♂️ Anyways, be well and Happy Brewing! -Patrick

so why piston sledge? just curious as why you want sorcery speed artifact sacing vs something like thermal navigator
@LocalGameGroup4 жыл бұрын
*Piston Sledge* is immediately Tutor-able with more Cards (though we solely use *Stoneforge Mystic* currently, this may change...) and buffs Teshar making him last through *Pyroclasms* and similar effects. *Thermal* is fine, but if we’re going to look for a Creature to Sac our Artifacts it will always be *Arcbound Ravager.* Also, the Deck wins at Sorcery Speed, so we can settle for this trade off in the long run. I used *Thermal Navigator* for a long time and the Card was found wanting. *Piston Sledge* gives us threats and helps us trade up in Combat (which Commander, even competitive, devolves into). Hope this helps!

Have you ever considered Perilous Myr or Ticking Gnomes as options for win conditions?
@LocalGameGroup5 жыл бұрын
I had. There’s enough win conditions built into the list to warrant their need. Ticking > Perilous, but either require infinite generic mana to be enabled. There really isn’t a flex spot for either. -Patrick

14:20 So you need another artifact on the board. It's a downside, sure, but the upside of also doubling as protection should be worth it. Though it's true that it's easy to get stuff back.

We’re happy to have most of our Cards in the Graveyard here... You need a valid Target is the most important part. Sacrificing an Artifact will not allow you to *Regenerate* an Artifact. This will only come in handy as: 0cmc Trigger for Teshar & a safety net. Again, as you mention, not difficult to get our Artifacts back in this list. -Patrick

It’s a utility stick. With Teshar out, it can serve multiple tasks: from retrieving/burying any Permanent - generally an LTB Apostle for a much needed Artifact - to acting as a self-sacrificing Answer during any given Combo with a Cost-Reducer/Infinite Mana. It’s an excellent, cost-effective Historic Trigger for Teshar and a great addition to the list. It can be substituted for various cards, but I lean towards having it in the 99. -Patrick
