I think John Woo left HK also because of the chinese takeover. He was worried that he wouldn't have freedom to create his films anymore. He comes over here, and he has even less freedom to create than he thought he would under the chinese system. I would love to see him team up with Chow Yun Fat again for one more crime/cop drama. You know, A bullet in the head was made from his plot for A Better Tomorrow 2. It was a flashback to Mark's origins, along with the bar scene he mentioned to Shing

@cubdukat, It's almost hyprocritical, that they invited him to make films and then basically tried to screw him over. That's why low-budget films are so much better. This is a low-budget film, as is the case with many Hong Kong films, so you're right. Some of Woo's US stuff was good, but this HK generation was where he shined.

@LukeMM95 Though Mark fell in standing to the bottom of the organization, he's not precisely a drunk hobo. He's ankle height, but not quite down the gutter. Also, it IS HK mafia. It's pretty easy to get ahold of guns and ammo. Also, useless trivia concerning guns. Mark uses a Beretta M92 pistol, the classic John Woo semi-automatic that's in almost every movie of his. But the OTHER pistol Mark uses is a Browning Hi-Power, American semi-automatic that also uses 9mm ammo like the Beretta.
