I am voting for Joe Biden because I want democracy in America to continue for another 4 years. Trump did not allow for the peaceful transfer of power in 2020 and he never conceded the election that he lost by over seven million votes. Trump instead ordered thousands of his supporters to destroy our nation's capital on January 6th. His supporters tried to kill Mike Pence for not overturning the election. For the first time in over 160 years, we did not have a peaceful transfer of power and Trump is promising that we will never have another peaceful transfer of power ever again. If Trump returns to the White House, he will use the military, the Justice Department, and the FBI to arrest and kill anyone who opposes him. That is what he is promising Americans starting next year. When Trump dies his children or a handpicked successor will then take power and America will never have free or fair elections again. Don't ask me about abortion. Don't ask me about the border. Don't ask me about the 2nd Amendment. Don't ask me about the economy. I am a single issue voter and I just want democracy in America to continue. Joe Biden could be brain dead and on a ventilator and I am still going to vote for him because I want America to remain a democracy for at least another four years.

Believe it or not, it already is a representative system, since the US was never a democracy to begin with. It's just that the big 2 parties are, well, big and have their own logistics. Also, it's the 50 individual states that make the laws on who gets in the ballot in their state, not Washington DC or the parties themselves. And just as the wigs, the federalists, and Democratic Republican parties that came before. At least nothing is stopping a new party from forming, like the libertarian party who just announced their candidate for president recently for example. they just need the numbers and support.

First past the post voting system. Until our voting system change, if you get one vote and the one with the most votes wins, it means the parties don't change because all a third party will do is guarantee the least-liked party wins. Say you have a left leaning, far left leaning, and far right party. 30 percent vote left, 30 vote far left, and 40 right, the party that has the least people supporting their positions wins. So to go from left to far left you'd have to infiltrate that group, which is where the problem is - the DNC refuses to go further left than most other country's center-right parties.

The Winner takes it all.

Because facing Trump, Biden is the better candidate even if he were in coma. It’s not even voting for the lesser of two evils. You guys are making it seem there are similarities between these candidates, when there aren’t any. One is an old statesman that may well die mid term, but who is thinking clearly, respects institutions, leads and achieves both in domestic policy and internationally. The other is a despotic playboy who sunk his country’s economy and reputation, had one of the worlds worst responses to the COVID crisis (fact), inspires rape and misoginy by example, fills government positions with his own family and sycophants, occasionally letting through some who try to trick and lead him not to destroy himself and his country… books his own hotels for leaders and their entire entourage during state visits, stays at his own golf courses during his state visits abroad. Need I go on? Both candidates may be flawed, but one should not even be considered. He should be rejected because his entire existence is a denial of everything the USA has ever stood for. Trump is a would-be absolute monarch.

However, if you count the Primaries there can be relatively large numbers of possibilities (reaching into the dozens if you include both the Democratic/Republican Primaries and the 3rd parties [the latter not viable usually due to FPTP or optimal voting strategy or game theory or something 🤷]). This year the Democratic primary was basically non-existent due to the incumbent president being a Democrat. However, there was a Republican primary with several candidates. The majority of US citizens could not pass the immigration citizenship test. Between television and the internet we are bombarded with fantasy and lies that too many actually believe. Our political parties each create a boogey man such as the deep state so they have something imaginary to hate and use against the other side. The deep state in the US is a bunch of billionaires like Trump who have too much money and need a way to deflect the public from asking them how they got all that money. Electrical engineer here. Your statement is kind of correct and kind of incorrect. DC and AC current are equally dangerous and could easily kill you, especially when submerged in water. Water - or more precisely, the ions dissolved in water are extremely conductive and are similar to having wires touching all over your body and also touching the power source. Electric currents take all possible paths that complete a circuit but heavily favor the least resistive paths. But! The reason I think your statement is kind of correct is because DC power sources are usually made of many low voltage battery cells connected in series. Low voltages can't push as much electrical current and are much, much safer than high voltages. Depending on the battery technology and how well the batteries are sealed, it's very possible that all of the battery cells could short circuit individually so lethal voltages might not be produced since the water would take them out of series, and make them low voltage - lithium ion battery cells are just over 4 volts and probably wouldn't hurt you underwater. But if those series connections were maintained behind a seal, then it could still be very, very dangerous! It would be an interesting experiment for Mythbusters!
@scottk32923 ай бұрын
Swimming pool lights are wired with the conductors carefully insulated. The wiring is run through a water-filled tube to an elbow joint which brings those wires up above the water level. The long pigtail connector for the light is then connected to the mains power in an electric box a few feet above the water line. So they still do their best to keep it all nicely insulated.
