What a fantastic haul. I am Scottish but really interested in reading Australian literature - I have quite the collection. Would love to see a video dedicated to Australian authors. 😊

I just read Tender is the Night and I really enjoyed it! The language seems so modern and the characters are very realistic, definitely an easy classic to get into :)

Yes! Fitzgerald I’ve found is very accessible. I’ve only read a couple of his novels and some short stories but I can’t wait to read more! Do you have a favourite Fitzgerald?

@@literally_elly Gatsby is the winner for me, but Tender is the Night is a close second ☺ So glad I stubbled on your channel, we have similar tastes!

I love how you've arranged your books as well. Will you be doing a bookshelf tour?
@literally_elly Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! 😊🥰 I have a few videos to upload in the next couple weeks but I'm hoping to post a bookshelf tour early December! 👀 (I'm currently trying to decide what type of tour I want to do -- whether a more overview-y tour, one where I show every single book (eek), or a tour focusing on my classics shelves. Or all of them! I haven't decided yet hahahah!)

Great classics haul! Thank you for reminding me about Cranford. When I read North and South and Wives and Daughters, I was like, definitely Cranford next! It has been like 5 years since then lol 😂

I really liked them, and both of them have mini series which were also great! But I just like books set around that time period, they are generally pretty slow, and not going to be everyone’s cup of tea 😊

I remember I was in highschool when I first read Les Mis, what a beautiful book honestly, you will not regret reading it. Also I've noticed that the spanish copies of my books are slimmer than the english versions, for example, I have Don Quixote both in Spanish and English and the english version is just absurd, super big. I don't know why, maybe it's the opposite situation of the translated books to german lol. Also I laughed outloud when you read Jean Valjean's name for the first time xd, it just caught me off guard, happy reading!

I should’ve prepared by looking up the proper pronunciations! (But knowing me I probably still would’ve said them wrong 😂😅) I definitely can’t wait to read it. A lot of people have said it’s a great book ☺️

I like your videos! My 2nd time watching this one. YOur bookshelf looks good Btw, i thought the book mentioned in Serendipity was something else, Love in the Time of Cholera?
@literally_elly Жыл бұрын
Oh wow thank you so much! The fact you watched it twice makes me smile so much! 😊😊 You're definitely right! The Márquez book is the book mentioned in Serendipity. I was thinking of Must Love Dogs because Cusack's character is obsessed with the Dr Zhivago film but accidentally said Serendipity. Oops!

I think the only things I can recommend for Les Mis are watch the musical! And also, don't be afraid to skim- Hugo is notorious for PAGES of useless description of everything
