@SailorMusicCatАй бұрын
And it's something that I think makes him a really, actually well written character. He's trying to mask his insecurity about being adopted. The doubts he feels about how loved and accepted he is. And just all things that are very real to life for an adopted child to be experiencing. Kino's not my favorite in Future Connected but he's only last on the list because there's only 4 playable characters.

Having never seen Future Connected until now, I can say that I love the Siblingpons, even if they don't reach the highs of Riki or Tora on a personal level. Seeing Kino want to become a heropon out of a desire to be accepted, watching Nene cheer him on and anchor his ambitions... Riki did damn well as a dad, even if he wasn't the best provider. I want to see these two soar and achieve their goals, cheer them on, hell, help them accomplish it. And I think that's a good sign of well written child characters. When you look at them and can just smile at their energy and positivity.

Gonna be honest I still would have heavily preferred Reyn and Sharla on this trip. I just don’t like childish antics nor the nopon dialect (Riku in three is the only time I feel that it’s done well). I mean they’re fantastic in quiet moments however, in almost every other cutscene they contribute almost nothing even dragging some down. I would have preferred to see development on Reyn and Sharla’s relationship rather than two new nopon. It would even make more sense story-wise for Sharla to come along in case anyone got injured or there was anyone in Alcamoth that was sick.

Just wanted to point that out in case Emile doesn’t know about it and doesn’t share it. I think it is a thing in general in Xenoblade and probably other cases of multiple worlds from the same writer too to have a certain type of character attached to a name. Translations have made this harder to track, but Xeno games in general have had a trope of a military leader named Vandham, this used to be a character with anger issues that would hit his underlings, I haven't experienced Xenogears at all so I don't know with that one, there is Vanderkam (or however it is spelled) in Xenosaga 1, and Vangare in Xenoblade 1. Xenoblade X then had the laid back and very muscular Commander Vandham, and now Xenoblade 2 and 3 both have a Vandham as a strong leader that guides the main party forward. I really enjoy finding cases of this because it creates a cool connection between stories.

He still has a HD texture, same as Bana, so it would have been textured specifically for this game. The likely reason Kino is so much more saturated than Bana is because he's a party member, and the saturated green helps him pop out more during a fight. Especially since the Bionis Shoulder is covered in greenery which is comparitively desaturated, it probably helps him pop out in fields and tall grass

As the end of the world looms, now seems like a perfect time to take down the drug trade and share our feelings with our friends. Just normal xenoblade things. I legit did a double take when I first saw Bana in Gran Dell. He was the last character I expected to return, but I am glad he did. He's certainly memorable, and getting a second quest dealing with his nonsense was just the thing this game needed. If there was any sidequest chain that deserved to get a follow-up in Future Connected, it was his. It's the most memorable generic quest line, mostly because it is so long, so involved, and ends with the most ridiculous fight with the most ridiculous reward. And here we have round two. However, I never actually finished this quest. I was a bit under leveled for the fight, and never went back to finish it. Oh well. Guess I'll finally get to see how it ends. Bana is the exact type of love to hate that they were trying, and failed to do, with Gael'gar. I think just him being a Nopon is what makes it work. In that way, he's almost the opposite of Gael'gar. We were supposed to take him seriously, but the story failed to set him up properly. Bana, at first glance, does not seem like he could be taken seriously, but anyone who's played his quest chain in the base game knows he is definitely taken seriously. They even have the same battle theme, and Bana deserves it so much more. I would say "Poor Bana," but let's be honest, he deserves whatever punishment he has coming for him. Honestly, being forced to help people might just be the biggest punishment of them all for someone like Bana. That final quiet moment justifies this entire story. It's so good. This whole time, Tyrea has acted as Melia's foil. The peerless princess, and the shadowy assassin. So, it's a fitting conclusion to her arc that she finally accepts herself and choses to stand by Melia - her sister, whether she wants to admit it or not - as her shadow. She embraces being the foil, instead of trying to reject it. She recognizes that for both of them to continue towards their respective goals, they need to stand side-by-side. It's a beautiful moment, and for Nene to be the one to initiate it, by forcing them to finally talk as sisters, just brings it full circle. And then she flies away at the end, an ability no other High Entia before or since has shown. That, I'll admit, is a bit strange. And Melia calling Tyrea "sister?" Perfect. Melia's starlight kick idle animation is new to Definitive Edition, and it is adorable. Obviously, the developers knew that Starlight Kick is her most popular art, so why not lean into it? Maybe someday she'll be able to perform it while sticking the landing. Maybe someday.
@tatltails3923Ай бұрын

Personally, I must politely disagree about Kino, Emile. While he doesn't have as many standout moments as his sister, I absolutely loved a lot of the heartfelt moments we got to see with him growing into his own and interacting with the other characters. He honestly reminds me a lot of a shy version of Tora, and Tora (when not getting screwed over by Japan's weird perviness) is one of my favorite characters in Xenoblade. tbh there's not a single playable Nopon (PLAYABLE Nopon) in the main trilogy (the MAIN trilogy) that i don't like in some regard, and I think it's because while they seem like they're gonna be the stereotypical "cute annoying animal mascot" species, each of the 6 playable Nopon in the series have something that makes them admirable to me. Hell, even Riku and Manana, who I found kinda boring on initial playthrough, had some bits I really enjoyed about them. I don't know what it is, but it's probably a lot less wholesome. ...and of course, the whole plan was orchestrated by Xenoblade's equivalent of Jabba the Hutt. Watching this series I really like both Kino and Nene, and for a bit of defense of Kino being hyper fixated on being the Heropon. Keep in mind his adoptive father is legit: The Nopon that fought a god, and won. Likely embellished by Riki to a degree of five. Not to mention all the stuff in this game that expands the Heropon without him being here, like the fact he found a new berry just for Kino (and other weak winged Nopon) to use, man straight up just made a scientific discovery and handed it to Kino and said "Go, be heropon." -okay not exactly like that-- So Kino being laser focused to the point of "this is my personality now" makes sense, especially for a kid his age. I won't argue he's the best written, Tora's a good example of another way to do a Kino type character. Nene is also a bit more interesting and I agree with her "HUG IT OUT, YOU IDIOTS!" However, the two siblings are two sides of the same coin. Complimenting each other's stories. Kind of like Shulk and Reyn.

6:10 I have to admit, I think that Kino suffers from the short run time of FC. If they had a little longer of an adventure, he most likely would have been written with more nuance. 7:51 RE:Quest description. Why not every character? All at once? 11:26 So... I actually made an earlier comment questioning if Bama was Bana. I literally didn't know Bana was in FC! I guest I didn't talk to Maxis to start this quest during my playthrough! 22:18 I think I have my next pfp when I want to prank my friends! 36:08 Man, now I want to see Tyrea interact with the other cast members as well. 39:41 Lot to unpack. * This was a fantastic Quiet Moment. I'm so glad that they went back and finished not only Melia's story, but Tyrea's as well. * Nene is a great addition to Xeno. I have no complaints with what they did with her and she deserves to be brought up more. (Aside from one of her quotes being, "Run of Nopoponomill", which triggers my dyslexia something fierce.)

23:58 Spoiler alert for Xenoblade Chronicles 3: This is probably a stretch, but could this be foreshadowing? He might be one of the people who got stuck in the cycle of reincarnation on the side of Keves, and this could be a symbolic way of foreshadowing that. Visions of the future is a reoccurring theme in this series, after all.
@tatltails3923Ай бұрын
Only people who were in their adolescence at the time of the merge got put in the reincarnation cycle, and that time was confirmed to be at least a couple decades after the plot of the game. So sadly, no one who's alive right now would be in the cycle.
@OneOnlyDanАй бұрын
@@tatltails3923 That's true, I forgot that detail. Still, the similarity of the dream still has me thinking it's meant to be foreshadowing even if he didn't end up inside the system himself.

Ne Ne is great for most of the reasons chugga said. But Also because she's one of the ONLY characters in this adventure (Besides Teelan) to make Tyrea break composure. It just goes to show that the 'nonsense' Ne ne is talking about struck a chord, far beyond what shulk or even mellia could ever say.

There was a weird thought in the back of my mind when we were doing all of the ingriedent quests. I thought about Bana but thought "No.. No he's at Frontier Village working off his debt there's no way..." I can't believe I missed him in the background of some of the scenes, it was so obvious! So many Nopon look alike, like Pororo reminded me of the maid Nopon from Miss Sweetness' sidequest. It was so funny, and yet serious, to see him get his butt kicked again by our team. With Tyrea and Melia, I do like how this does help to wrap up their story. To see more information on Yumea through her daughter's words and thoughts. It legit almost brought tears to my eyes especially at the ending with Melia calling her "sister mine". I agree with you on the music of "Hope" that it sounds very "Tales of Symphonia" like, as I'm a huge fan of that game series. That's a game I'd love to see you play someday, since you've mentioned it in past videos, but it is a long and obnoxious one to get 100% since it requires at least two playthroughs. And I couldn't agree more with you, Emile, about Nene. She is one of the sweetest yet sassiest characters I have ever met in a video game. She's so helpful and kind but will gladly dish out some pain if it's needed.

I. . .do have to question this interpretation of Yumea's will. . .given how much she utterly hated Melia.

I like Kino, while one-sided it's seeing a little kid with a dream. It's all they talk and dream about.

38:54 While you're right about the small icon in the events theatre, the quiet moment list icon is actually just a cropped version of her official XCDE artwork. The battle icon is completely different and, to my knowledge, actually completely unused. That does by no means confirm that she was planned to be playable, but I could definitely see that that's what happened anyway.

Tyrea video Tyrea video Tyrea video 10:08 the great mighty poo but for real this twist had me shaking 14:33 but for real this side quest was definitely a highlight for me i love how it connects a bunch of the side quests we did on the shoulder and how it continues the biggest chain of quests from the base game also need to point out this means Gael'gar isnt even the biggest villain in FC side quests also we can see Bana's punishment after the quest he will run around gran dell over and over again 35:15 the song "hope" plays which was an unused song in the original game (oops you mention it in the video) 36:40 i wish tyrea would carry me while we fly over the bionis shoulder one extra point on the tyrea being playable thing that i just find mildly interesting is that she appears on the steelbook that comes with the japanese collector's edition which has art showing all the playable characters

the funny thing is until Bana was name dropped I joked that theb "Esteemed Person" Pororo was talking about might be a Xenoblade 2 Nopon

While I never liked Kino (I find the whole "side-kick" thing annoying), Nene became one of my favorite nopon (if not my favorite). Had my favorite dance, good noponish words, she's a sweet older sister, and is a great tank. I hope she comes back someday (as well as Kino. Seeing Riki's kids in their next generation would be great). Still, I think Tyrea not joining as a guest party member was a missed opportunity... Even if it would've been at the very end, would've been nice... But oh well.
