No matter what kind of Nintendo fan you are, it absolutely can't be ignored on how much of a powerhouse Monolith Soft is within Nintendo. They're always studying the latest 3D tech on their website, and pushing what their latest game does beyond the last. Watching the Xenoblade series evolve as it progresses is a fascinating process, and really hits home that Monolith is limited by only the hardware they create on. And don't get it twisted, this isn't a slight on Monolith OR Nintendo at all. Despite how limiting the Wii was, the first Xenoblade game was artistically STUNNING to look at when you travelled through all the environments. The jump to Wii U with Xenoblade X was INSANE, and with the entire Trilogy (No X unfortunately) now made for the Switch hardware, you can STILL see limits being pushed on Switch restraints. If anyone wants to know what the Switch 2 will be capable of, I'm only saying that Monolith Soft is the one to look at when it comes to Nintendo titles, especially their own IP.

Xenoblade 1 was their peak in terms of narrative. Xenoblade 2 and 3 were pretty generic in that department. Not only that but Xenoblade 3 had a worse combat system than 2.
@frostyblade884219 күн бұрын
@@16xthedetail76 Say you didn't understand 3's story without using those exact words. 2s combat was good, but it was needlessly complicated and never explained those complicatiosn properly aside from the tool tip when they popped up first. I love the game, it's amazing, but it has really rough moments combat wise, especillai Aesthas' core and the first boss fight in Mor Ardain. 3 has the best combat by a mile imo, since it takes the best parts of 1 and 2'd combat and blends them together
@byronlyons354818 күн бұрын
@@frostyblade8842 The whole Aestha's Core is mostly the tutorial, or lack thereof, and not on the combat itself. And I wouldn't say needlessly either, but again it's on the poor tutorial. Also I don't know, other than the ability to switch playable characters, I still say 2's combat is better than 3's. All because the worst part of 1's is weighing 3's combat down. Those timed cooldowns are aweful. Also stutter step is no longer there. That and fusion combos in 2 is still mostly better than everything that 3 has. The last one brought up a question, which is, what does 3 do if it ever had a Bringer of Chaos Difficulty? Because in 2, it not only made enemies stronger, beefier, with your attacks not doing as much as before. But also your party (in this case chain attack) gauge built up much slower, and the enemy sometimes had attacks that drained or lock you out of party gauge. It didn't hindered 2 as much, due to the fusion combos. But 3 doesn't have anything like that, and therefore Smash combos are nerfed a whole lot. Made much worse when most enemies are also even beefier than 2's are, even with a higher damage cap. But those higher damage caps are only reachable through chain attacks. So what now? The answer is, you just die. And that's the long point of why I think 3's combat is not as a good as 2. Game has a pretty poor damage efficiency, outside of Chain Attacks. Almost the same problems 1 has.

@Zorgot.20 күн бұрын
idk his reasons but it can be very grindy or just overwhelming for some people because of how massive the games are. like back when Xenoblade 2 released, I played it for awhile but then dropped it, and would try again later and get farther but then drop it again. Once 3 was announced was when I decided to sit through and binge 1 and 2 and then I finally fell in love with it, so glad I finally got through it because now they are one of my favorite games of all time now but yeah idk, it's such a big commitment getting through those games
@byronlyons354820 күн бұрын
I heard that he was ultimately turned off due to the fans. But really, that's not a good indicator or reason, considering how every fanbase can, and will be like what he experienced. Also he enjoys thousand year door of Paper Mario, so he doesn't have much room to complain about quality. If I'm gonna be absolutely honest here. Also yeah, the whole things he praises and likes, and wants out of games. Xenoblade has all of that. So him not liking them just only really makes him a hypocrite really, if it was just the games themselves.

1. Monolithsoft have worked on multiple games at the same time, albeit spread very thin. When the majority of their employees were working on Breath of the Wild making sure that game was capable of releasing in time for the Switch (they were chosen to do so after their work on Xenoblade X, an open world game running incredibly well on the Wii U), they had only 12 people total at some point working on Xenoblade chronicles 2, which could attribute to some of the rushed or “first draft”-y elements of that game, alongside the need to fit the prequel campaign into DLC when it was originally played to be part of an extended flashback section within the main game. 2. Monolithsoft is already working on a new JRPG project, and evidence suggests it may not be Xenoblade related at all.

It wasn't that they couldn't fit the DLC prequel into the main campaign, but felt it broke the pacing a bit too much. Which honestly is very true, for what they made the prequel being as. Either way, it ended up better for it, both on that prequel being it's own game, and the main game being fine without it.

XC isn’t as big as FF, but it isn’t a niche series anymore. Maybe one day we can convince Arlo to just give the games a try. Or, at least, give XC1 DE a try

I really would love to see Monolith making a revival in the same vein as Kid Icarus Uprising of the Mysterious Murasame Castle as a hack and slash. Make an entirely new story, add interesting new characters and give the few ones existing entirely new personalities and depth. Monolith is the perfect studio for that

I don’t know if they’re going to keep adapting perfect works though, there’s a pretty popular interpretation that the endless now in Xenoblade 3 is actually a metaphor for monolith soft adapting perfect works over and over, so it’s possible they’re moving on from doing that.

Monolith have a very passionate niche market. It helps that they manage to pretty consistently give their audience exactly what they want and are always getting new fans. Companies like Ubisoft target entirely on a more casual market but they're in a decline and they have shown zero interest in going after the people that love their weirder stuff. It's kind of impressive how much Ubi underestimates their audiences that aren't Assassin's Creed, Farcry, and Just Dance. I can confirm it is very nice patiently waiting for Monolith's next game and being rewarded for that patience with some of the best games ever

Monolithsoft are great devs, I especially love that their expertise helps in making first party Nintendo stuff like Zelda. It's good to hear they're doing so well :) as an aside. I really appreciate that you use the term customers instead of consumers. Consumers feels like such a gross business owner way of looking at people, almost like the term "whales" for big spenders in live service games. Customer feels much more mutual and respectful.❤

I don't think anyone plays the games for the actual combat, it's a complete mess, all the enjoyment comes from team building and watching your numbers get bigger.
@jacobmonks372221 күн бұрын
The combat is fine, it just has a learning curve. It's really not that convoluted as some people say. The first game is especially good at just giving you everything you need very early and letting you experiment with it at your own pace. @Maxbillion.

Most people in the Xenoblade/Xeno franchise area of the internet are kind of betting more on Xenosaga remasters before Xenoblade 4, and there was also some rumbling about a different IP entirely. However, the way that 3’s DLC left off definitely sets up for a new “arc” in the series, and stuff that the director said in interviews when questioned on lore bits left open ended in 3 made it pretty patently obvious that he didn’t want to say anything for the sake of not spoiling the next game.

Monolith is insanely talented and one of Nintendo’s best gets. They’re consistent, quick, high quality, and apparently not a shitty place to work! It proves that great games come from the right circumstances. XC3 was incredible, it finally felt like they nailed what they’ve been going for since the start. Seeing what they do with PS4-era hardware is going to be really special. Edit: Like seriously can you think of any other developer that pumps out games as good and quickly as Monolithsoft? The only thing that comes to mind is Insomniac.

I cannot wait for what new project monolith soft has in store
@speven12321 күн бұрын
I'm so happy that Nintendo acquired MonolithSoft and that they've been given the room to grow themselves like this without compromising any of their vision. The fact that they've been tapped to help on so many AAA Nintendo projects that aren't Xenoblade (like multiple Zelda projects) speaks to their overall talent. I love me some Xenoblade, but I'd also like to see them branch out and create some new IP if they have some good ideas. We've come a long way since Operation Rainfall, and I'm excited to see what lies ahead for the company.
@brainydiode20 күн бұрын
MonolithSoft is absolutely my favorite developer in the business right now. Not only is Xenoblade my favorite game series and BOTW among my favorite games of all time, but at a time when it feels like we hear nothing but horror stories about working conditions in the industry, MonolithSoft holds recruitment drives for specifically recent college grads at least once every couple years, and they have a no crunch policy that, as far as I can tell, is fairly strictly enforced. At least, I can't imagine that Xenoblade 3 would've released 2 months earlier than originally announced if they had been crunching on it. Who could've possibly guessed that the path to success lies in treating your employees well and making quality products? (Now if only we could convince NOA to make enough of the physical merch like special editions and amiibo so that they're not constantly out of stock here in the US, that would be great.)
@Kyroro979 күн бұрын
What is really amazing about the position monolith soft is in is that it's so integral to Nintendo's RnD, technical polish and in general assistance to its games that it can continue to push projects without being afraid of not selling that well or being at risk of being axed of something (instead they've been hiring like crazy these last few years) so it's really great to see how the series is growing and how beloved every game is, when the most niche and underrated game in the series gets ported and it's actually a big thing. Monolith soft is a gem and we'll continue to have xenoblade games for the foreseeable future and that's amazing.
@SuperGamerGuy6464420 күн бұрын
Monolithsoft has a few directions they could go in, porting Xenoblade X, bringing back Xenosaga, or their new IP they are developing that could most likely be titled Xeno something cause they tend to keep the word Xeno around even if it's something different
@TheRedlotusblossom21 күн бұрын
Overall what this means for them is they can experiment with a lot of other littler pieces of software and possibly help get some extra money coming in from a lot smaller projects.

As someone who's been following Monolith since their lead people were still at Square, I think I can safely say they aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Especially now that Xenoblade has caught up to where Xenosaga left off decades ago, and is actually selling enough to warrant keeping the train going. This company and its flagship franchise will be a Nintendo staple for a long time, if they keep things up the way they're going.
