Nigerian biochemist and entrepreneur Mojisola Ojebode’s career in agriculture started during her final year at university, with one big question: “What are you going to do with biochemistry?” This question started a chain of events that ultimately let to the budding scientist and her team of collaborators developing an important breakthrough: a biopesticide that has proved to be an effective antidote to the weevil scourge that has bugged farmers in Africa, and around the world, for ages. With Mojisola’s solution, farmers have a powerful new alternative to chemical pesticides. More importantly, organic farmers have one more reason to come on board.
