Jose, today my brand new Pro-1100 was delivered. It is my first pro-level printer. I've printed twenty or so of my Z9 files and I am thrilled. Thank you, Jose, because you are a big reason I went with Canon. Thrilled!

Barry, congrats on your purchase. Can I ask you if you have experienced any banding issues with your new 1100? I guess not based on your comment but just to confirm. I am ready to buy one but I saw a video review on KZbin and read a post on dpreview where banding issues were reported and documented, so that gave me pause and made me wonder whether they are isolated incidents or more widespread issues with early batches of the 1100. Thank you!

@@Light_Quill So far I've made about twenty prints, 5x7 up to 17x22 and so far no banding. At first, I used a wired ethernet connection but switched to wireless wifi, and no issues at all. VERY happy with this printer. I too saw a video discussing banding, but that has not been the case with my printer. Works great.

My color management chain of custody is dialed. A-B testing between PRO-1000 and PRO-300 showed a noticeable difference. The largest noticeable difference was in the rendering of absolute black tones. The PRO-300 rendered a deeper, richer black. I say that to say, I believe the PRO-1100 will produce similar or perhaps even better results in the black tones as well.

The Canon PRO-1100 is now in stock on B&H and Adorama, $1,299. Looking forward towards when you get one for general use and comparison. My biggest interest would be the cleaning cycles required.

You may expect it the same or more…the bean counters at Canon wants you to buy more INK.

Thanks for your comments Jose. I have to say, if test prints between printers are coming out similar, then I don’t get how the 1100 can get better blues. The only possible way reformulating the blue and cyan inks to end up making a difference must be in the interpretation of the mix of ink in the print engine affecting the outputted hue? Or something. I’ll believe it when I see it.

It's just like the PRO-100 vs the PRO-200. The 100 had issues reproducing a true RED. The it could do was to produce a slightly orange red. It couldn't! if you had a transition of orange to red to magenta, it would skip RED and you would see a jump from that almost red to slightly magenta. They "FIXED " that with the 200. Normal CKYK printers CAN NOT produce a deep dark purple tone. It sort of becomes a dark brownish tone. Enter proprietary BLUE or Lavender inks such as used by the NEW P-700 and P-900 as well as all the new CANON PRO printers. You now get very good deep blue and purple renditions. You now see it on your monitor and also on your prints! The color improvements as very selective and not6 a GLOBAL so called improvements. It's VERY selective. If your image's colors are completely in gamut you likely will NOT see any difference between the two printer's outputs.

Jose, if you had a choice between Canon 1100 and Epson 5370, what would be your pick and why?
@cheo19493 ай бұрын
1100 but only because I know nothing about the 5370

What if the standard image is not up to the new improved inks in pro-1100 ? Do we need a more challenging standard image to exploit the improved printer/inks , hence capturing the difference from Pro 1000?
@cheo19493 ай бұрын
The standard is BEYOND anything the Ink Jet Photo Printing Industry has and will ever produce.

Hi Jose. What do you recommend for self-calibrating monitor. Thank you.

I wonder if, since the differences might be very slight between the 1000 and it's inks and the 1100 and the new inks, any third party ink will never give results to exactly match the new Canon inks. Of course, with chips etc... it might not be possible to use third party inks and refill the new cartridges. We wait to see but the inks would have to be superb and at least half the price of canon inks to make it worthwhile. Since I would be upgrading from and old A3+ (Pro 10s) to A2, I would probably have to factor in always using OEM Canon inks.
