I'm almost 50 years old, never owned a car but have followed tech news for decades. It blows my mind that the VW Group didn't start turning Audi into an electric car brand at least 5 years ago. Audi customers were the perfect target group for EVs. And had more money than VW customers. Instead, the geniuses thought it was a good idea to sell VW cars for Audi prices SMH.

VW has difficulty starting large job cuts like Tesla because there is a job guarantee until 2029. Audi is releasing two more models with 800 V technology: the Q6 e-tron and the Audi A6 e-tron. Tesla currently only offers the Cybertruck with modern 800 V technology but no cars.

Transitioning an existing ICE car manufacturer to a BEV manufacturer is almost impossible. BEVs are computers systems with wheels, these systems require a few super star programmers, they cannot be simply hired. You need to hire them at a young age give them the tools and support they need from technically competent management. As a mechanical engineer who got into programming you quickly realize that a few of the young people are elite Michael Jordan level programmers. These are the stars that make a company if supported, not hiring 5,000 good programmers.

Well also the camel drivers from Katar with 17% in VAG and probably a lot of RuZZian oligarchs as well as the traitors around Schroeder and Merkel will have some troubles. They certainly will spread more lies about how bad Tesla is doing or engage some more „eco“-terrorists to sabotage the greenest car manufacturer in Europe. It’s absolutely crazy that Germans do with their eternal prejudice that is „truly destructive“ in all of their history based on stubborn arrogance toward truth about reality. E.g. BOSCH always misused their power to norm innovations that were not their own, as with my family the inventors of oscillating sawing blades sold by millions from over 3000 companies that never paid a dime, but these criminals sued the real inventor for ‚copying‘ one of ‚their‘ concepts. Such stories have been common the past 40 years of blocking innovation to stay in power with the help of hedge lawyers. So I do not heave tears in my eyes but I am angry about the working people loosing their jobs for paid whores with golden parachutes and Nazi-families everywhere still in power in companies that never changed their internal thinking so far. This now comes to an end as there is a disruptive new time with new players doing things differently. If it’s also better only time will tell but only green electricity makes us free, as long we keep control ourselves. Only electric cars and transports have the potential also to save energy and that is better than just cutting cost on the back again of customers getting worser products and workers getting more stress and pressure but having no chance to ‚safe‘ the company. The fish always starts stinking from the head🤪🤡💩🦄🤮🤬😵‍💫👿☠️

The surface coal mine in that region somewhere that's using or that's pumping away more than 100 times the water that Tesla uses, seems to be no problem for the protesters, that's how it looks to me at least. Did I miss something? When asked, what's the problem, they write, it's the water. When pointing out that the coal mine is using or pumping away more than 100 times more water than Tesla, they don't respond any more. And on other occasions they shout about their water for their future and Tesla is using their water again. Until someone points out, there's the surface coal mine not so far away and the water... Then they move on to the next spot to post about Tesla's water usage... Strange. But that's at least how it looks to me in my opinion, maybe I don't see the full picture, who knows...

In 2015, I was called into a marketing research meeting for BMW and I explained that having amber dot matrix screens that looked like they were from the 1980s wouldn't cut it. They couldn't understand why anyone would think that or want anything different, despite everyone there agreeing with me. And despite me telling them that my 2004 Acura TSX already had a full color touch screen over a decade earlier. The other thing I pointed out was that unlike my Acura and Mercedes, there was nowhere to set my phone while I was using the map feature. Again, "nobody wants that", despite everyone else agreeing that while it might not be a deal-breaker, it was pretty high on their list. But the marketing team of BMW knew more than everyone that they paid $100 each to trying to tell them otherwise.

I agree with your culture analysis. But you need to keep in mind that China set policies in motion to eliminate ICE vehicles by the end of 2025. You can't even sell ice in the China market. These have no residual value and won't be allowed on city streets in the near future. Probably 2030 or 2033 no ice in China. The CCP can and does mandate everything. Clearly, everyone outside of China is at a disadvantage in the EV market. The US auto market is bound by outdated dealership model that is not effective for the EV market. Only Tesla will survive. Ford needs to dump it's ice into a separate company from it's EV company and the EV company abandon the dealership model. If not, Ford will go bankrupt along with GM and Stellantis. No ice car business models will be around that much longer.

shareholders want dividends & stock-buybacks.. dividends & capital that are not available to REINVEST into the company, to pay for R&D. Companies that doe not generate profit are not viable. All the CEO's, the board, etc.. they all are BY LAW responsible for making profits, not for rolling capital back into the company. *This is PRIMARILY the FAULT of the shareholders due to how our currencies function.*

So sad. My first 3 cars were VWs. I loved them all. However over the years, they became less and less reliable, so much so that I traded in my 3rd VW with just 47,000 miles. Now their EVs are good looking but again their software is terrible and the ID BUZZ is too expensive and has lousy range. They need to hire back Dietz and FIRE the whole management team or they will not survive.

They could setup a startup for engineering and manufacturing EV cars only, like Tesla. While parent VW company could continue with ICE cars only. This could solve some of their problems, though they would have hard time to rivalring Tesla anyway. Tesla is a revolution in every aspects of EV car design, engineering, manufacturing and even the sale. But there is also another issue - rapid rise of Chinese producers. The Chinese setup excellent organization of their manufacturing. They built mighty network of their own parts providers, world class vertical integration, and have world class manufacturing efficiency. The legacy producers will have to make a lot room for the Chinese rivals - no matter if Tesla is counted in or not.
@waynerussell6401

Not world class efficiency in auto manufacture. There is a huge difference in manufacturing quality. Tesla are way ahead of least faults per 100k and BYD at the bottom (12365Auto). Tesla's profit per employee is also much higher at $4,916 (Autoline).
