Hello Captain!! How are you? Wonderful video and research for this list. Now take a breath. Haha There were a lot of books on this list that I have never heard of. I think that I should try and read at least one or two American tales since that’s where I hail from. I seem to not stray far from British literature. Uncle Tom’s Cabin is at the top of that list as well as O’ Pioneers. I am dying to read A Month in the Country though. You make that one sound so intriguing. The Betrothed is now on my list and definitely The Moonstone. My favorite book on this list that I’ve read is Daniel Deronda. I absolutely loved it! Thanks for the list and many blessings to you and yours. Shakespeare is calling so I’ve got to run 😉

Read 9 from that list. Notre Dame, Moby Dick, Uncle Tom's Cabin, All Quiet, Main Street, Winesburg, Big Sleep, Animal Farm, and Name of the Rose. Mansfield Park and Agnes Grey are on next year's list already. Adding Woman of Colour, Rackrent, and Kingfishers Catch Fire. Adding Daniel Deronda with more trepidation than optimism. Already trying to get through Anna Karenina by October, and the major Austen/Bronte novels by the end of the year 2022. Have also started Pere Goriot and Fathers and Sons. And I just told someone I'd read Ulysses, which means I'll be finishing Dubliners then moving on to Portrait. I need to stop commenting and get reading. See you in 2023, I guess!

🤣🤣🤣 yes I will understand if I don't see you around here for a while🤣 Mansfield Park is super. Totally different to the others. I too am going to grab Kingfishers Catch Fire. I'd love to hear your thoughts on Brontes vs Austen

Wow. If someone gets through all 52 of those books in a single year ... I'm going to tell them to slow down and go take a walk or something. :-) I'd argue that 12 of those would make a pretty full meal. Happy New Year, Tristan!

Sorry, I feel I've been a bit AWOL in the booktube community of late. This is such a great list! I adore Vanity Fair, and would happily read it again this year. And I love this span across the decades. 52 books this year is my target. I've just added Love and Madness to my TBR list, and you have long since convinced me to take up Shakespeare again; I really don't want to, Tristan, but I feel, much like running, once I get going I might enjoy it, and I have no doubt I will feel better for doing it! XD

Some of those most certainly piqued my curiosity. Since I'm Brazilian and Portuguese is my native language, though, I went at least thrice through a funny second take when I heard the names of certain novels and thought "Oh, that sounds interesting..." just to realize I've already read (or at least own) those novels, but with a VERY distinct name in Portuguese. lol Loved the variety of indications.

I've not read The Big Sleep, glad you remarked on it. The plot surprises me- which came first? Last Christmas I read Maigret's Noel, by Simenon. Similar plot. Hmm. Possibly Simenons from '50s or '60s. I will check.

I love reading, but I could probably only read 52 books a year if I literally devoted all of my waking hours to it, but with my schedule, there simply isn’t enough time in the day. I try to devote at least one solid hour to serious reading a day. I average around 100 pages a week, which means I read 1 to 2 books a month, depending on the length. As a writer, I also try to study the style of the author I’m reading, extending the time I spend on a book.

A Book a week is a tall order. Like you I prefer to take my time and think on what I read, but I know some want that 52 book challenge. This list gives some ideas. To actually read this list would be an extraordinary effort. I don't think I could manage this list myself!😅👍

I read Martin Levy's book about the murder of Martha Ray, it had a lovely jacket, it may take me all year to finish Clarissa, so I might have to put off this fictionalized version of the murder. I liked Mansfield Park and Ivanhoe. Flowers in the Mirror sounds interesting but 100 chapters frightens me. A Pair of Blue Eyes sounds a good one, I placed it on the Kindle. Yes, read The Big Sleep and Carson McCullers' The Heart is a Lonely Hunter. I like Godden and kept In This House Of Brede, afine book.

Great list Tristan. I have only read two from the list. Agnes Grey and Animal Farm. Some classic I haven't heard before and they all sound interesting. I have Manzoni's novel in original language but haven't read it yet, hopefully this coming year will be the year that I finally read it. I am hoping to read Anna Karenina, even though I am intimidated by it somehow I struggle with the Russian literature. I only managed to finish War and Peace and since then I tried to pick up other Russian but couldn't finish them. Thanks for sharing this video and thanks for your hard work. Wish you and your loves one A happy and Blessed New year.😊

Hello Nicole, so sorry for my tardiness in replying. There are a number that I've read in this list but the majority I haven't. I'm not actually tying myself to this list. The 52 books by 52 authors is a video that I've been asked to do to help others find some reading material which might intrigue them. Which ones grab your fancy?

There are quite a few books here that take my interest (as usual). The Moonstone has been on my "want to read" list for a while but I haven't as yet purchased a copy for it to actually hit my TBR (I prefer to read a physical book rather than audio for my own interpretation). In fact I've a few times forgot to look for it when book shopping lol. Such is the side tracking of books.. Reading this book will happen. It will. An Algerine Captive and The Woman of Colour seem like two that I might like to dip into back to back at some point for a feel of old culture, times of slavery and related attitudes. I'm going to keep England Their England in the back of my mind. Not one I'd normally search for but if it does have a similar humour to Wodehouse, and I see a copy come my way, I'm in. Who doesn't like British humour? Is it funny? If I can get hold of a copy of Buddenbrooks I will read it. Seems epic. I'm intrigued to see what the character development is like. I've obtained a copy of Vivian Grey. It on the TBR pile. There are a number of books on the list I've read. I might revisit a few. A book club group I follow will be reading Moby Dick later in the year. I'm not sure if I want to join yet or use the time for other books I haven't read. I'll be rereading Epitaph of a Small Winner again, which you inspired me to acquire in the edition you show here, but in a different translation. My son has a Penguin copy with a different title and I'm curious to see which I like better. He'll getting my copy of Atlas Shrugged which I read early last year and I'm looking forward to seeing what discussions might come up after he reads it, but I won't be reading it again. Poo-Tee-Weet! Love that book. So it goes... If you are going to read Snow Country this year and you enjoy it I'll pick up a copy of it and read it too. Sounds interesting. I have an antique copy of Dicken's Our Mutual Friend in bad shape prepared for repair. It might take me a while to read it but I will be reading it while I do page repairs.
